If you listen closely, the five notes at the start are the sound of my lungs, heart, and testicles exploding one after the other. THIS is the side of classical music that some people seem to forget when they dismiss it.
Wow....just amazing! I have the chills and i listened to it two hours ago! We're working on this piece for our Italy tour in January and this performance really set the bar
It's... breathtaking. Heard the piece before, but this is most definite the strongest, mightiest and most epicly done.
Sir, you have my deepest respect and eternal thanks.
This could well be the one piece of classical music that the Trans Siberian Orchestra DIDN'T have the most memorable and strongest performance on, and since the TSO is like, my favourite band (well, Orchestra) ever that says a lot coming from me.
I am stunned by the emotion pronounced through this video, and wish I could purchase the recording in iTunes, or get it onto my iPod. Also, your hand movements within the beginning made me wonder whether you were possessed, I could never keep time that fast! Stupendous
When I have anger management problems I listen to this song. It literally sucks my fury and adds it into its epicness. When I'm done, I'm completely calm and refreshed.
@johnsongM16 Don't be afraid to let your classmates hear this. You never know who will like it! I've seen hardcore metalheads and rap fans loving this kind of music! :) As a DJ, I know!
you're welcome. Actually thank you! I've considered myself a metal head for most of my life but classical seems to have the same type of emotion that I look for in music.
All I can say is THANK YOU Battle Royale for introducing me to this simply wonderful music!! This rendition is so powerful... you can r4eally feel the emotion coming from them, especially the conductor!! :)
I'm 13, and I absolutely loved listening to this peice. I grew up in a classic rock family, and I guess I developed a taste for old music. Just the first minute will prove anyone wrong that classical music is boring.
Beautiful. Hearing them play with such passion takes my breath away. It's a shame there seems to be so many pretentious, psuedo-intellectual commentaries on this type of thing.
I love this guy conducting - though the bass drum is so loud !! It's pretty awesome though and I wish I would have been the guy playing it. I definitely feel the whole day of wrath thing...
Claudio Vandelli, I bow to you, Sir. I can just imagine sitting in the front row, and when the first powerful "DIIIES IRAE!" comes along, my hair just flies backwards.
I just wish I could take a million kids whose music today is vulgar chanting and put them in the front row for this and several other pieces of classical music. It would either change their lives of cause them to dislike older people even more. :O)
Journal - Day 27: "I went back to it 5 times today. The feeling to click and listen to it one more time is uncontrollable. This isn't normal is it? Self? I mean I grew up listening solely to hip hop and maybe some oldies... my younger self swore to never listen to anything country or classical. Yet, alas! First it was Garth Brooks "Friends in low places" now this..... this,this... Verdi.....semicolon......Requim......comma.......dies...irae.. The cake was a lie, the..cake..was..a..lie"
The first half is amazing, but I have to say the best part is that very end , I have never heard an chorus sound like that. So haunting and quick , almost like a snake.
I want to grab someone off the street and say "HAVE YOU HEARD THIS??!!!!" with tears running off my face... If someone died before hearing this... it will just break my heart. How can I feel so insignificant and large at the same time like every little thing in the universe.
If you like a really fast tempo, check out the old 1961 r4ecording (Originally on Parliament) by Igor Markevitch & USSR State So (Audio CD - 2006) I think it's even faster. On the other extreme is Barbirolli. I love them both
