you know its so disappointing that some of you guys are judging this ohana when you don't really know the REAL situation. These people right here are good people who needed help.Do you really think extreme home makeover would just choose someone who was already good 2 go? No they choose those who need it, those who are an IMPACT to their community and these people are a huge IMPACT in Hawaii.Don't judge its just immature and unnecessary. Respect what they do. They are an asset to many in Hawaii.
the family had Manyheali'i on. That says that they can afford expensive clothing, right? ah whatever I'm happy for them but I am so, SO hoping that my family too can experience this on Molokai, HI!
I also feel it is not right for people to be given luxury mansions with every luxury and mod con available, this is probably one of the reasons after the makeover many neighbours of the recipients are resentful . I also wonder how many burgularys have happened since every criminal now knows where to go to get the best goods.
Although i love the show there are a lot of things not shown. Many families have not been able to afford their homes as their utility bills went up and the tax also went up after the houses were revalued by the state, a lot of people in the towns where the makeovers happened also launched vendettas against the families and forced at least one family from their home so it is not all happy smiley community coming together. Some families have also sold the homes after the makeovers .
@twinsarecool89 she went through even more trouble when a little digging around and an audit discovered her and her husband were both earning $100.000 each a year.
I recently saw this episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition on TV. I just wanted to thank you guys for being so awesome and generous. What you did brought tears to my eyes. Mahalo.
i love this home, and i lobe extreme makeover, because it's a really nice programme. i'm spanish, and here is a small version of extreme makeover, but this version( american version) is the best. bye ; ) xD
questions arose when people read the nasty comments below...when awesome people who do great things for their community are rewarded, why are they picked apart by people who don't even know them or the extent of their character?..the answer was so obvious that they could only reply with, oh well...i hope they enjoy their box seats in hell...god does not judge so how dare you!!!
@hellokittyfolife hi i personally know the kids and the baby the younger kid is now 11 years old and goes to my school and is in my class a very close friend and the older son is now graduated and is dating my best friends sister i have been to their house and it is unbelievable how nice it is. and the baby is adorable!!!!
Last season a memo was leaked from inside the show listing diseases and disorders that would make for an "interesting" show lol they passed up my neighbor a disabled Iraqi vet in a wheelchair (house was horrid for someone in a wheelchair) to do a house for a kid who survived cancer and who's house was just small not broken down
Questions arose when Theresa "Momi" Akana was picked for the Extreme Makeover program for Hawaii. The Honolulu Advertiser investigated their tax records and found out that both she and her husband made over $100,000 each in salary. Denise Cramsey, the executive producer of the show, responded with "I think Momi certainly fits the bill." She defended the pick, stating that they look beyond financial situation, and look into other factors, including family plight and contributions to the community
I don't know why you got thumbs down for these comments. Indeed there is now a whole population of folks who live off shows like these. I have spotted just a couple of instances where things that could be repaired for little to no cost are highlighted as part of the hardship the family endures.
it was later discovered that the parents had a $200,000 annual income. It turns out that this was just one of their houses. They really pulled the wool over our eyes

Apparently he's a bank VP, and with his wife they make a combined $200,000 a year... sooooo needy.

I don't care what people say, you can't build a house in 7 days period! Especially in Hawai'i's weather.
