Apparently, these people were giving food without a permit. I was under the impression that people needed a permit only if they were actually selling food. Permits aren't going to stop people from catching food poisoning. People catch food poisoning from licensed restaurants. CNN news said in 2008 that there is over 8,000 doctors in rehab. Probably 25,000 are waiting for their turn to go into rehab.

Apparently, these people were giving food without a permit. I was under the impression that people needed a permit only if they were actually selling food. Permits aren't going to stop people from catching food poisoning. People catch food poisoning from licensed restaurants. The government can regulate trivial matters such as this but can't regulate big businesses from discriminating against minorities and the unemployed. They're always picking on the little people.

i find this a little stupid they got the permits (i've seen a video were they have it in the descrip) and then refused to take the premits. its most likly not to hard to get a permit to feed the homeless there. and jsut like one guys said before that can got to a food bank that has been licensed and is safe to eat.

If the people had a bbq, they could consider all of the homeless people their guests, and not worry about about ordinance laws.
It is sad that they have to arrest people for feeding homeless people, but I do kind of understand that foodborne illnesses can really cause more harm to homeless people who have no means for medical care, etc.
I wonder how many shelters the city has. Maybe they need to open up some more.

But because the Mayor didn't like it being done in town he had a new permit put in place. The richie Rich's didn't like seeing them in the park. It only limits groups who feed more than 25 people at a time to two permits per year at each park within a two-mile radius of City Hall. You need to look in to the facts be for posting comments!!

Ok so from what I see I must ask what is your cause exactly? Not be be an ass but there are ways to feed the hungry where u wont get arrested. I know the whole permit thing is fuckin stupid but there are measures that the fda requires for anyfood vender to meet such as food temperatures and temperature logs that reassure the saftyof the food and the children eating it. It only takes one mistake to get a child severly sick!!!! I have seen children die from food poisoning.

It probably would block pedestrians to the point where they would (rightfully so) be told to move. How much of a problem is it to aquire a permit? Feeding hungry people should be the only objective; not civil disobedience. I don't like petty ass rules; but if it's a simple process, I would bite the bullet and get a permit.
