  • @MichiganZombieHunter

    hi mate try boyds stocks

  • Fun and Impressive. I'd like to see how the .22 magnum preforms.

  • cool vid

  • Not a fan of savage, but that is a beautiful gun right there

  • I think the savage is verry good more the marlin Ithink so

  • beautiful place, nice video, great shooting. Liked it a lot. Keep shooting THANKS

  • I like 17hmr but when u compare ammo prices might as well go a 223 it about 28 cents a bullet where a 22lr 03 cents a bullet

  • There is a doctor in Livingstone I presume?

  • Ahh... Rednecks with guns, it's the american way. I think the apple has the highest IQ.

  • @RoostR34 oh yeah? well, that apple aint so smart no more.... cuz its DEAD!!!

  • Nice video, but for the price and class of rifle, I will stick with my 22 WMR.

  • See you are a Vietnam vet. Me too. Welcome home brother.

  • beautiful rifle

  • @sweetstickyicky beautiful landscape as well

  • in my opinion the 17 hmr is a good target rifle if you want a great rifle get a 22-250 now thats a varmit gun

  • yap yap yap...way too painful to watch

  • is he slightly crazy

  • Awesome video man I'm looking into a righty version of this gun

  • interesting video, very informative and appreciated. i have just ordered my new marlin 17 hmr rifle today and want to thank you for convincing me to go this way. thanks and regards from Ireland.

  • I wish they made a left handed stock that fits the right hand platform. I am a lefty but I have always shot a right handed rifle! I have tried left handed rifles and do not care for them.

  • what type of scope is that

  • why are you so spitting

  • @Jackarunda i have a left handed rifle most gun shops can provide for u

  • great info. better that most impact videos..

  • what type of bipod is that

  • drunk basterd

  • yeah take that Pepsi--Coca Cola for Life Baby :-P

  • skip to 3:15 for the actual impacts.

  • How'd you get ahold of a left-handed rifle?!

    I WANT ONE!

  • @Jackarunda they make a left handed one now, but you might have to order it, i bought a right handed one, as i am right handed and there was a left handed one there as well

  • @Jackarunda savage

  • @Jackarunda you have to special order them or get really lucky and find one, cause i personally haven't seen anywhere..

  • @Jackarunda savage makes this a production modle i just bought mine today and thru a leupold rimfirescope on it

  • @Jackarunda Right hand models is the BTVS, Left hand models is the BTVLSS

  • @Jackarunda lots of firearms manufacturers make left handed rifles cz, marlin, anschutz, ruger, remington just to name a few

  • @Jackarunda Savage 93R17 BTVSLH. Factory LH model.

  • Clips are for hair and M1 Garands. That my friend is a magazine.

  • Lovely information. I am looking for one and doing many searches. Glad i found this one

  • Did I say he sounds drunk? This guy is fucking wasted.

  • @flightoftheunknown He's a Vietnam Veteran, give him a break. Guy can do whatever the fuck he feels like if you ask me.

  • He sounds drunk.

  • Dude you look like a cat eating thumb tacks when you talk. I think i'll stick to 22lr for varment and 223 for slightly larger game. I am a big fan of .308 win and .338 Lapua

  • Velocity -> is the key I think, Shot a coke can @ 25 yards with a 22 cal L/R 40gr. H/S H/P, hit dead center it bent the can in half, the water squirted up 4/5 foot from the tab opening, it landed 4 ft behind the stump it was sitting on. Repeated this with a 17 cal. Mach 2. The can took off like a punted foot ball, landed 12 ft behind the stump, the can opened up like a catchers mitt, its12 ounces of water now huge in the air like a curtain diffracting the sun light into rainbows.

  • I'm absolutely amazed that the deck of playing cards did not even fall over never mind not being kicked off into the distance after being run though with a 17 caliber bullet. I would think its because the bullet is traveling @ such a hi rate of speed, btw that bullet left a 45/50 caliber hole in its wake! Would really like to see this bullet from that rifle @ 100 yds fired into ballistic gelatin! Great Video Jim. Tnx's!

  • @1shot2kilu Dude he said that he GLUED them down!

  • Just bought what i belive to be the same savage just in right handed. Was wondering what scope you are using there.

  • Too much fucking mouth movement, I don't even want to watch this anymore.

  • @hahacarlos I thaught that I was the only a-hole that notice his mouth! He looks like a cat eating thumb tacks!

  • @FrogMike81 Hahahahaha well said

  • Great perspective on the impact. I was a little worried about your camera. Flying apple and soda can shrapnel :-). Excellent video.

  • haha i hope there was some sort of cover on the camera

  • nice to see another lefty out there :)

  • 1) Hold your breath.

    2) Copy all of these steps.

    3) Go to two other video.

    4) Paste it in the comments.

If you can do all of this without breathing you're a god

  • cool vid, great shootin, and thank you for your service to our great country.

  • how much louder is a .17hmr than a .22lr?

  • A left hand rifle?, looks like your right handed though

  • one time when I was hunting with my 17 I put an empty soda can on a log about 100 yards away and I shot at it three times and it didnt move but when I looked at the can there was three bullet holes dead center in the can

  • Hello MrJumBow, thanks for making the video. I'm interested in getting a .17 hmr and am also a lefty. Was looking at a Henry Acu-bolt. But now I buy a 93r17 btvlss. The Savage folks should send you a few bucks for selling their rifles. LOL

  • @dan13718 these guns dont have any sights at all unless you put a scope on it

  • I love my .17! I love how i can shoot dimes and pennies and beer bottle caps at 200yrds. I luv my sub minute of angle. I love my Sweet .17 scope. I love the no recoil. I love how quiet and far away it sounds. I love how cheap the ammo is and I love how fast and flat and accurate it flies. Who cares how big the game is when you can make head shots all day long from far away with a small caliber.

  • nice reveiw, i've got the same exact rifle, only right handed, and i've also never adjusted the accutrigger

  • why was the apple glued down? i can clearly see the gluebead pre shot arouund the bottom of it..

  • You have got a good looking rifle there sir. Looking to get one similar not as spiffy though.

    ,Safe shooting

  • nice!!!!!

    what rifle is that ?

  • i cant take this guy seriously..

  • Nice video and rifle. I've noticed most .17hmr have very thick barrels compared to other rifles. Are they all like that and does it bother you at all?

  • @pdizz128 The thick barrel is a good thing. It is a heavy bull barrel that decreases heat retention and expansion, it allows for the higher pressure and velocities of the .17. Any match grade or sniper grade rifle would have the same.

  • Mr. Jumbo, Montana and Savage Rifles all rock...God Bless America !!

  • My tests with polymer tip .17hmr rounds at 50m

goes through two phonebooks just about

tears coke cans filled with water right open

vaporizes half of a whole apple (IDK WTF is wrong with this guys apple, must be a super apple)

goes through 6mm of steel plate

    BUY ONE TODAY! :D

  • I just got this exact rifle with the bipod but with a bsa sweet 17 scope but i have not gotten it 100 % zeroed in but so far i love it

  • Nice rifle you got there. I'm thinking of getting one, but I would like a semi auto.

  • I wish you had posted it without slow motion so we could hear the sonic crack. Good camera setup for it.

  • Awesome!!! I just bought the same rifle in the Rt hand version, can't wait to doe some damage to the coyote population in TX.

  • Shoot Pepsi, drink Coke.

  • creepy laugh lol

  • which one riflescope you have used in this video

  • WHAT SCOPE DO U HAVE ON YOUR RIFLE ???

    Dirk

  • Die you pepsi max!

  • did u have to drill any extra holes in the gun for the bipod??

  • you should have shot at 200 meters.

  • Comment removed

  • can someone tell me how much a decent box of shells are for this rifle? im considering buying one of these and i want something thats cheaper to shoot than a .22 magnum, but more powerful than a .22 long rifle.

  • You should try shooting some paint balls sometime. Mount some golf tees on a 2x4 & put paint balls on them. They are a lot of fun to shoot.

  • @mmmmmnnnnn55555 you know that sounds really good, gonna have to try it , the .17HMR is a tack driver, love mine ,got the Savage with the accutrigger, mounted a BSA sweet .17 on it , harris bipod , I LOVE IT , too bad the ammo is not as cheap as .22

  • I love the .17 HMR rifles; I'm thinking about purchasing a Marlin myself.

  • I just put in an order for a Savage 17HMR TR, and I can't wait to shoot it. Quick question did do a barrel break in w/ this rifle, or did you just take it out and have some fun?

  • what grain and type of shells were you using?

  • would a hornady 20 grain take down a bobcat or a coyote on one shot

  • a really good video. you are very thorough on this..

  • apple sauce lol

  • Just bought the synthetic stock version with blued barrel. have you noticed any difference in the 17g vs the 20g in longer range shooting (100y+)? Im thinkin the 20g might be a LITTLE bit less resistant to the wind problems the 17 has. correct me if I'm wrong.

  • That rewind part was pretty cool

  • Hi like the vid! That is my preferred choice of ammo as well for my savage... however it got rare around here for a bit so I've had to basically buy whatever was available locally. I have hornady 20 gr, federal v-shok 17 gr, and now winchester super X 20 gr. I love the 17 hmr. I saved a dozen rounds of the CCI from the original few hundred I got when I bought my gun... Shooting one inch at hundred yard with the 17hmr and a savage rifle is almost effortless! Great combo,Shoot safe & shoot often!

  • sure am glad he describe the (deck of cards, apple and soda can) or else i would have had no clue as to what he was shooting at

  • I can understand shooting the can of pepsi but green apples are good! lol!

  • Thanks for the video review,, I bought this very rifle yesterday only right handed, Bought the Harris bipod and Nikon scope for it too... I hope to post a video response soon...

  • ooooohhh, a left handed bolt with a thumbhole stock Im jealous:)

  • it took me all the way up till 2:19 to realise it's a lefty rifle o.0

  • its a magazine not a clip

  • Excellant job nice video.

  • damn this guy is happy

  • where did you get that left hand hmr?

  • ...couldn't fit in previous comment, but the scope I mounted on my Savage 17 HMR is a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40mm. So the Leupold Rifleman "high" rings will accommodate a 40mm lens with lens caps...if you get something smaller or larger than 40mm then you'd have to match your rings to that specific scope. Other options...Nikon makes a 4x32mm (fixed power) rimfire scope for $110 and Leupold has 3 rimfire models all the way up to their $400 VX-II 3-9x33mm EFR rimfire model.

  • FYI...anyone buying one of these Savage rimfire guns (or other rimfire rifles) needs to be aware that the barrel is straight (no bump at the the bolt) As a result you'll need to use higher scope rings to allow for the front bell of your scope (and any lens cap) to clear the barrel. I used weaver-style Leupold Rifleman matte black "high" rings (model# 55870). The medium rings allow for the scope to clear the bull barrel, but there's no room left for a lens cap...so get the high rings.

  • @MrJumBow Thanks for your service and these videos. These were very helpful in narrowing down the options for a good groundhog/target gun. Do you remember the specific Harris bipod you have? I watch Predator Quest and like the one he uses to hunt coyotes...I think his is a 25C bipod. Basically, I need something that I can use for kneeling or sitting out in a field to bust some groundhogs & targets. I'm a southpaw too, but bought the less expensive blue steel bull barrel model 93R17 GLV.

  • i watch the apple explode then watched it again but imagined my sisters face on it :D

  • Thank you for your service Sir. Im saluting you.

  • I also plan on buying .17 Hornady rounds, are these a good option? Other buyers gave them a good review. I appreciatte your help.

  • I'm thinking of getting a .17 hmr from cabela's catalog by savage arms. It'll be my first rifle, I live in a somewhat dangerous city, And I'd like to take some comfort in knowing I can protect my mother and sister if I have too, It's not going to rot in my cabinet, I plan on shooting for fun. The price is right. Do you have any suggestions at all? I feel a bit overwhelmed with the sheer variety.

  • how much for the gun well what did you pay for it?

  • I liked the shot on the soda can.

  • A well done video MrJumBow. Much, much better than most of the amateur gun test or gun review videos on YouTube. Enjoyed it. BTW,....been to Livingston, MT. Loved it! Best to you.

  • @MRjumbow 200 yard gun, you could kill someone at 350 yards if you wanted to

  • :P The reverse video was great. You make shooting fun. Beautiful .17hmr rifle ya got there, love the ss bull barrel. I'm still pondering a .17hmr (Savage or Marlin), 12 or 20 gauge Rem 870, and Marlin 336 .30-30 --all nice rifles :)

  • Did the butt pad come installed on the rifle, or did you purchase and install it afterwards? (Mine'll be in between a week and a week and a half!!! :o)

  • @WhitetailBowmaster Sorry for the late reply. I been a slacker. The butt pad was already in place whenever this rifle came in for me. These 17s have zero recoil so a really large butt pad is not needed. Thanks for the question :)

  • @MrJumBow , Well done your clips are some of the best on the tube. Thank you. I recently purchased

the same unit it's the most fun I've had shooting in years, and I didn't have to take out a loan to

purchase the ammo. Great video keep up the excellent work.

  • @WhitetailBowmaster its only a .17 rimfire... you shouldn't need a recoil pad... not even the most recoil sensitive should feel it

  • YOU ROCK

its about time you destroy a mobile phone.

you should let people vote on what to shoot at, lol.

    Bubble Love XXX

  • @reptiledelight You might just have a novel idea here. I will have to dig around my house and see if I can find an old discarded cell phone. Thanks for the suggestion :)

  • what an amazing piece of craftsmanship, your rifle. In the vid, you can almost feel the smoothness of the stock. And it doubles up as a can opener; a bad one, however, I suppose, in the case of soda cans, and if you still want to drink the content ...

    : D

  • @rubadux No I am just afraid that the only chore that this rifle does well is to spit 17 grain bullets down range. Thanks for the comments, humor and review :)

  • Great video.

  • @dellmar94 I appreciate the video review and comments :)

  • that was amazing on how those deck of cards were still standing after you shoot them.

  • @BugMoneyFishing I had all of those objects "glued down" on that box just in case they wanted to fly into my camera or tripod. Thanks for the review and comments :)

  • @MrJumBow yeah that makes sense

  • @BugMoneyFishing Actually, ALL of those objects were glued down to that cardboard box. My digital camera and tripod were placed very close to that entire target area. Just a precautionary measure :)

  • @Attrezz0 Well I managed to plug up my microphone hole by blasting that pepsi can (lol) I had better stop making these kind of videos before I really destroy that camera. Thanks for the review :)

  • great video Jim i love the efects that you used for it:)

thumps up to you my friend , and have a wunderful day :)

  • @BuschTukkerMan I have a basic movie editor aboard my Mac computer called iMovie. I am just too cheap to buy better programing. Thanks for the review and compliments :)

  • Great video, thanks for making it. I started watching your videos after doing a search on recipes for fresh trout. You've hooked me ever since. Always informative and entertaining.

  • @blitzit222 Thanks for the compliments. I try to create videos with some kind of purpose or meaning. Admittedly some are better than others. I appreciate the reviews :)

  • pretty cool...nicely done.

  • @north61 I surely appreciate the review and for the kind comments :)

  • Sure nice up there, don't let the Negroes, and Mexicans come there that will stop!

  • @Whitevoice14 Please, I would appreciate it if you did not post racist statements. This rifle was made for varmint and target shooting mostly. Most folks with any sanity usually stay away from Montana due to our cold weather (lol)

  • @MrJumBow Whatever dude, but you will have plenty of " varmints" soon! I seen the scumbags spread and destroy my town, guess your in a sheltered all White or 98% White area, keep it that way or peace will be no more, later!

  • @Whitevoice14 To be very honest, yes it is true that mostly white folks live here in Montana. None-the-less, the Cops here have a tendency to be very mean. I guess with larger populated states, problems with the various ethnic groups are bound to happen :)

  • @MrJumBow If you only seen what my town was and has become.

  • Ouh, a marksman! Good shot, man ;D

  • @FabiTheCrazyTerroR19 I have worked out with the .17 HMR quite frequently. I have owned 4 different rifles in this particular caliber. Thanks for the review and comments :)

  • YEAH! BABY!! nice video...lookin' good....great shot!

  • @gboy1973 I surely appreciate the kind words and the movie file review :)

  • The poor deck of cards didn't even fall over, never saw it coming. That surprised me. Thanks for the upload, very interesting as always.

  • @LittlPussi All of those target objects (meaning the deck of cards, the apple and the Pepsi) had been "Gorilla Glued" down to that card board box. I wanted to minimize object movement as much as possible so that "stuff" would not go flying into my camera or tripod. Thanks for the comments and review :)

  • @MrJumBow Aah, that explains it. The other two objects have a much higher water-content so practically exploded and the cards are stiff, so hardly move. I get it now, thanks.

  • WOW. Great camera work JumBow. Didn't know that little .17 could do so much damage! Also, for some reason never noticed before that you were a left hand compadre! :)) Keep up the great work, America needs you.

  • @Hectus22 The .17 HMR, basically speaking, is a .22 rimfire magnum that has been necked down to 17 caliber. No doubt, it is pretty wicked. It makes for a real good varmint rifle out to ranges of about 200 yards. Yes, I am south paw with a rifle but do every thing else right handed. Weird, huh..?? (lol)

  • this guy seems like a retired marine or something seems like he knows his guns and ammunition i found him threw his fishing videos didnt know he was a sport shooter too

  • @lakaiguy17 He would be good to have in a battle!

  • @Whitevoice14 I am a Vietnam Veteran. I managed to make it through that fiasco in one piece (lol) Thanks for the review and comments :)

  • @lakaiguy17 No I am just an old Army guy. Did one tour in Vietnam and that was about it for me. I got out of the Armed Services way back in 1973. Thanks for the comments and review :)

  • @lakaiguy17 I think I put my first response in the wrong slot here (LOL) Thanks for the review, etc.,.

  • My Marlin doesnt like CCI ammo only seems to like Hornady. Great video.

  • @BENLINUZ Yes I can understand this. I have a son-in-law that owns a Remington 597 semi auto loader .17 HMR that cannot shoot CCI ammo neither. This is why I prompt folks to try different branded names of .17 HMR ammo and bullet weights. Thanks for the comments :)

  • fantastic detail on your video, enjoyed it

  • @groutaone The outside light was in my favor on the day of the tests. So was the wind. Too much of either and this stunt would not have been possible. Thanks for the review and comments :)

  • Cool Video, looks like the camera took a pepsi bath.

  • @spearmintmonkey You are 100% correct. The camera got covered with soda pop however I did remember to bring along some rubbing alcohol and a rag for cleanup purposes. Thanks for the review :)

  • GR8 shooting jim :) and gr8 vid :) this is xXxUnearthedxXx from blogtv :) BTW :)

  • @TruOgreThree I appreciate the review and for coming to my shows. Yup, this was a tricky video to capture :)

  • Great video! I love small bores.

  • @phgHunter This particular .17 HMR is the smallest caliber rifle that I own. Thanks for the review and comments :)

  • Great Video ! thank you for your serves !

  • @airsoftlamblover I appreciate the review and nice comments :)

  • Hope you don't destroy your camera :P

  • @alex90307 Well I got lucky on this particular video. I did manage to plug up my camera's microphone with soda pop however (lol)

  • What a great looking rifle! Thanks for the review Jim!

  • @tmib92 I appreciate the review and kind comments. Yes indeed, my Savage model 93 .17 HMR is a handsome rifle :)
