I can't understand why Amiga ports of VGA Sierra games SUCKED so bad (with the exception of KQ6, but that was done by the same mob that brought us Beneath a Steel Sky). I know there was a 32 colour limit, but come on, the games were clearly not optimised for the Amiga.
If you scroll the comments section down you will read: "Because I recorded it in PAL mode . The midi music will play back slightly faster, if you switch your Amiga into NTSC mode (someone told me after I did the clip)."
(As I said before, I never repeat myself (*g*))
Right - there is missing the melody line - sort of special Amiga mix? ;)
@quipzz Yeah, was too lazy to scroll down hehehe. I was referring to the PC version - not sure about PAL v NTSC. It would have to play considerably faster to match the PC version. The missing melody line is only in a portion of the track which is weird. From 2:41 - 2:49 and from 3:01 - 3:12 are the two spots where the melody is missing. May have been when it was loading the settings into the MT32 at the start of it. I have a vid of my MT32 playing LSL3 on DosBox. Great games!
brrrrr! Was it really necessary to rape paula by giving hear to hear this asynchronous and effectless tinny noise? Wavetable sound was just a workaround for the anyway blind and deaf people, who were to game at a PC..
Well, listen to the Amiga SQ4 native intro music - and post again ;)
LAPC-I sound for the deaf? Listen to the superb Police Quest III intro by Jan "Miami Vice" Hammer for example in my "Booting my DOS-PC" Clip. Blind? Right - SQ4 Amiga is not easy on the eyes ;->

I didn't even know Amiga supported MT-32 until right now!
I acquired a CM-32L and CM-300 a few weeks ago, this is deffo the best investment I've done for my retro games! I wish I had these things when I was a kid....
@petieken Most/All Sierra game supported MIDI (PC/Atari/Amiga) with the Casio or Roland MT32, Which was one of the earlier desktop sound modules, later the Sound Canvas and the General MIDI standard.

The music plays slower on the Amiga than it does on the PC. Interesting. It is also missing the melody line on the LSL5!!!!

WOW, The aspect ratio on the Amiga ports are so wrong that they make the Win3.11 ports (when available) look like they have correct aspect ratio

Great video. Interesting how you did this! Question, how does it sound when you play non-sierra games? Dead? Weird?

@APyleOfVinyl
You mean Amiga games with no midi support (=non-sierra games)? The MT-32 will remain silent... ;)
BTW: It's possible to have midi sound using WinUAE + MT32 (connected with usb cable to your PC) + Sierra adventures

Cool, up until 3 years ago I didn't know the Amiga versions supported the Roland LA synth
Must get an Amiga interface so I can hook up my MT32, CM-500 or CM-32L!
