@spiderofgod Not 100% sure as I cannot find any reference to it online, but this was her first ever public speech. So considering it's 1964, 6:35PM and more than likely the BBC. The only program I can possibly think of could be was Dr Who which she described as "Teatime brutality for tots".
That's proven true of most of the public officials who banned it. There's this welsh town that only unbanned it this year because the woman who played Judith became mayor and it's still technically banned in some bible belt cities in the US.
I totally agree; even if a bunch of people like MP would make a totally rotten movie (hard to imagine, but for the sake of the argument) it's better that it comes out. Adult people surely are able to decide for themselves to watch or not to watch it.
Funnily enough the Pythons themselves pretty much sum up the attitude of their opponents:

Man has been surrendering to ignorance and calling it god since the dawn of history. We don't know what, if anything, made the universe. The existence of the universe is NOT proof that a god exists. In fact, that is a rather weak argument.

yeah i belive many people over reacted. but they over react to everything. dogma also. guess free speech doesn't exist when it makes fun of someone. thats why i like south park. fuck everyone.
I'm Catholic and I don't see why people got so annoyed about Life of Brian. It's comedy genius. And at the end of the day all it is is comedy, a joke. No ones saying that the man cruxified on the cross wasn't Jesus.
i was raised in a catholic home and was i was baout 15 i realised that people have have all their faith in god have no faith in themselves. how many times have u asked god to help you
but without helpiung urself no one will help you
i belive god is a "person" we turn to when everyone else shuns us out
but maybe instaed of looking at god we should look deep into our souls.
Actually that John Beyer character could have said this:

the people who took offense in this movie are probably the same people who listen to signers like Ozzy Osbourne and think he's a psychopath and satanist; they just don't know how to take a joke or look beyond the obvious

Its so funny too!

I'm Catholic, and I think the movie's funny. A true Christian should know that his or
her faith will be mocked. Just take it in
stride, turn the other cheek, and just
forgive.

yeah i belive many people over reacted. but they over react to everything. dogma also. guess free speech doesn't exist when it makes fun of someone. thats why i like south park. fuck everyone.

No one enjoys a good laugh more than I do. Except my wife. And some of her friends. Oh yes, and Captain Johnstone. Come to think of it, most people enjoy a good laugh more than I do, but that's beside the point.
