Have you actually listened to both Celine and Whitney in their prime? They were astounding. And Mariah was too. It just so happens that they all had different styles, and all three were the epitome of those specific styles. I love the voices of all three.

Although Celine's my fav, it sure doesn't make me blind to the fact that these three have their individual uniqueness. It also doesn't differ my opinion that MC was the best until circa 97 which is when her vocals started to 'change' a little. 'Butterfly' is my fav album by her, not for her vocals but for the material it contained. But its ok to disagree! ;)

ummm i saw her for tour the first time 2 days ago!!!! no lie check my channel it was on the 6th. but DAMM she sounded good. i dont know why she didn't sound like that on her new CD but her voice was AMAZING at the show. i would almost as good as this pretty close. but her voice is coming back. im not just saying that to cuz im an MC fan look up her new tour or anything from 2010. she was great!
I think the CB tour did both. It strengthened her chords, but it made her nodules grow, so that's why in 2004-2006 she sounded so husky and sometimes hoarse. Rest shrinks the nodules, but exercises make the voice faster, stronger, better.
@AaliyahBrandyMonica Exactly, I hate fans who forget that their beloved performers are not robots but humans. When vocalists like Mariah, Celine, Tori Amos, et cetera seem like their vocals are not as powerful its due to all the constant tours and performances. Rest is always key though, but that is hard to squeeze into an industry that almost requires constant output to keep public interest.

@dj4celine Beg to differ. No one could hit the high notes like Mariah; in that, she was in a league all her own. But to say that Celine nor Whitney could rival her is a gross overstatement. Have you actually listened to both Celine and Whitney in their prime? They were astounding. And Mariah was too. It just so happens that they all had different styles, and all three were the epitome of those specific styles. I love the voices of all three.

@Cyyael Actually, YES, I have. It's not just the high notes that made Mariah who she is, its the way she portrayed the songs. Although Celine's my fav, it sure doesn't make me blind to the fact that these three have their individual uniqueness. It also doesn't differ my opinion that MC was the best until circa 97 which is when her vocals started to 'change' a little. 'Butterfly' is my fav album by her, not for her vocals but for the material it contained. But its ok to disagree! ;)

At 3:05, the audience just can't contain themselves. So she just stops and smiles for 15 seconds? I've never seen anything like this. And then she still ends it perfectly. No problem. Compare that to the Grammy version with a bunch of industry morons sitting there looking confused, having no clue what they just saw. Might explain the state of popular music?

ohhh! I love this Mariah! I love her voice, her hair like that...that elegant, beautiful dress! She was so awesome. As a young girl, I looked up to her. Then, she went all "Hip/Hop and Bling Bling" or whatever. She never looks or sounds this way anymore. This was perfection. Truly!

when she was at easy singing enormously well, she wasn't struggling trying to deliver the notes and she did it so spectacularly, I respect others opinions of those that says she still has the voice but since she hasn't been able to sing these old songs the way she used since the daydream tour to nowadays, to me she clearly lost her voice but well, at least we have her albums and all these performances to treasure and remember why she was considered THE VOICE even now that it's so far gone.Lovely

you know i really dont think its that because i reamber how bad Chramebraselt was voice wise....and then she took a brake for like 3 years and she came out with the we belong together CD and i dont think her voice has ever sounded so good. it was a hip hop CD so some old mariah fans that how stop listing to her music will say not its not...but listen for fly like a bird or mine again, or joy ride, he we belong together even. i can go on and on. she sound older no dough but to me she sound better

i think if she rested her voice no singing no tour no album no nothing for about 2 or 3 years she could get back to this maybe even better. Her voice diff isn't gone "i wanna know what love is" anyone...but she needs rest for sure. Do you guys rember glitter??? and then she rested her voice and came back with TEOM she was on fire then. and ya shes not 20 anymore so she needs to rest more often

ummm i saw her for tour the first time 2 days ago!!!! no lie check my channel it was on the 6th. but DAMM she sounded good. i dont know why she didn't sound like that on her new CD but her voice was AMAZING at the show. i would almost as good as this pretty close. but her voice is coming back. im not just saying that to cuz im an MC fan look up her new tour or anything from 2010. she was great!

I think the CB tour did both. It strengthened her chords, but it made her nodules grow, so that's why in 2004-2006 she sounded so husky and sometimes hoarse. Rest shrinks the nodules, but exercises make the voice faster, stronger, better.

@AaliyahBrandyMonica Exactly, I hate fans who forget that their beloved performers are not robots but humans. When vocalists like Mariah, Celine, Tori Amos, et cetera seem like their vocals are not as powerful its due to all the constant tours and performances. Rest is always key though, but that is hard to squeeze into an industry that almost requires constant output to keep public interest.
