EVERY ONE OF MY FANS HATE MY GODDAMN GUTS THEY THINK I LIE TO THEM I WROTE EVERYONE OF THE DOORS SONGS INCLUDING MANY OTHERS FROM VARIOUS BANS AND THEY ALL HATE ME FOR MAKING THEM HAPPY WITH MY SONGS!
Originally written by Jim Morrison as a song about "The realization of Times true worth"
The realization struck him during one of his many acid trips in the desert.
I'm sure you can see how the intensity and spontaneity of the trip Contributed to the amount of emotional attachment Jim was able to leave behind in this fantastic track.still considered a master piece among me and most true door's fans alike.
doors are indeed the doors which lead to a differente kind of thinking a new generation something thats not human.the lyrics touch everybody.instead of a microphone jim has a magic wand.it is magic to me.
what I hear when I listen is Jim's fearless & unashamed commitment of mind, body and spirit to the dark side, an explorer shedding light on visions of hell before his time and ours too, it was a conscious decision he made; haunting, unsettling and absolutely beautiful
others tried to equla this song for its climax, but this was the best one of all time... and the first. When I was younger I used to want this played at my funeral.
..the killer awoke before dawn..he put his boots on..he took a face from the ancient gallery..and he walked on down the hall..he went into the room where his sister lived and...then he paid a visit to his brother and then he..he walked on down the hall and..and he came to a door..and he looked inside..father, yes son i want to kill you..mother..i want to.........

I love this song, its really good, thank you for uploading it.
Now, having said that, I have to say this; I've never really listened to the lyrics in this song properly before and having just read them through in the description there I realise they are quite bad... luckily the song is still awesome as a whole.
@UnstagedMusic They have a deeper meaning that only true doors fans who have done their research understand. A piece art to say the least. (That and he was strung the fuck out when Jim did this live) Watch the movie ^^
@IrishMactire They're not written in verse form - that would take a LOT of space! Also, Mr. Morrison capitalized words. It's unfair to judge a poem by its format!
@IrishMactire So....you like the song but not the lyrics? Not simplistic enough for you? I think you're comment "I've never really listened to the lyrics in this song properly before and having just read them through in the description there I realise they are quite bad... luckily the song is still awesome as a whole" is quite possibly the dumbest f'ing thing I have EVER subjected my brain to! I'm sure you're all over the Beatles "I wanna hold your hand," though!
@jerseyjoe5486 I agree that the lyrics are bad, and I have no idea why you think that his comment is dumb. Is it because you don't think music can be good if it has bad lyrics? If so, what are instrumentals and Janes Addiction for? Or is it because he'd never payed attention to them before, which is actually quite common when just casually listening to music, especially this sort of trance stuff. Or is it simply because his opinion differs from yours and you can't accept that?
@IrishMactire Well it's said in his bio that Morrison was either drunk or high when he wrote that song, so it's no surprise that it's a pretty abstract lyric
These are great lyrics, if you think the same way as Jim Morrison. Which, if you're a writer or a poet or appreciate a good read, then you'll get Jim. You know?
@worldof00t It's more abstract than 'poethic', and I reckon it's more likely that there's almost no meaning. He has been quoted saying 'I really don't know' what the meaning of the song is. It starts off as a song that is simply about the end of a relationship and then just stumbles on for 12 minutes of surreal, meaningless trance music. If you want poetic lyrics look up Elbow, that's the good stuff.
