  • this song will forever be cool

  • kiss

  • Apocalypse Now

  • The song is beautiful in every both musically and the lyrics itself too that doesn't even need music.Everything he says is poetry......

    "Into this house we're thrown,

    Into this world we're thrown.

Like a dog without a bone."

  • "Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain

And all the children are insane" profound! >;-)

  • This is the End, Beautiful friend... it hurts to set you free

  • "THE WEST IS THE BEST" CLASSICK! >;-)

  • 5 people are deaf.

  • It's a shame this is the censored version!

  • I think you'll find the lyrics get a little deeper than just breaking up with a girl

  • I am instantly transported into the movie Apocalypse Now. "Either surf or fight!"

  • @TheTrevelyansway So true dude!

  • Originally written by Jim Morrison as a song about "The realization of Times true worth"

The realization struck him during one of his many acid trips in the desert.

I'm sure you can see how the intensity and spontaneity of the trip Contributed to the amount of emotional attachment Jim was able to leave behind in this fantastic track.still considered a master piece among me and most true door's fans alike.

  • the song that hooked me to The Doors!

  • I always think of veitnam movies when I hear this.

  • got this track when first released ,still dark and menacing best doors track ever

  • KILL

  • doors are indeed the doors which lead to a differente kind of thinking a new generation something thats not human.the lyrics touch everybody.instead of a microphone jim has a magic wand.it is magic to me.

  • it was not about native americans...it was about on of jim's high school girl friend

  • @chavaruiz91 yep, her name is Mary

  • the end was about native americans too says jim lok it up who he saw as a kid in a car wreak

  • this is my generation the doors were on a whole new mindset i saw all the groups in there prime .the music now well lady ga ga?????

  • It's great. The music arrangement is mind blowing. Krieger's guitar, Manzarek's organ is sick!!

  • Wore black 4 a week when he died...wore black a lot that summer of '71.....

  • its not about breaking up with his girlfriend its about death cuz if u knew anything bout him it was a fascination with it

  • @nkla4 Yr wrong, it's what goes on in his mind after the breakup.

  • @nkla4 the first verse was about breaking up

  • man this is love.....music at its best.....the peak i think..the end.....

  • river styx, riding the snake

  • born on the wrong birthday people give me crap for not listening to rap but i dont care 'doors all the way!"

  • I was born in this generation. IN 1977 to bad I wasn't old enough to enjoy it while they were popular.

  • just wonderful

  • Masterpiece.

  • Between "The End" and the live version of "Celebration of the Lizard", I think I'm set for the day.

  • what I hear when I listen is Jim's fearless & unashamed commitment of mind, body and spirit to the dark side, an explorer shedding light on visions of hell before his time and ours too, it was a conscious decision he made; haunting, unsettling and absolutely beautiful

  • hey the snake is the ultimate phallos

  • others tried to equla this song for its climax, but this was the best one of all time... and the first. When I was younger I used to want this played at my funeral.

  • This song makes you want to go out and meditate in the desert.

  • goodbye boo bear... i will always love you, and always cherish the dream we had.

  • i like the song and the lyrics but what is the snake

  • @pinkfloydfan2929 It might mean something but Jim improvised most of these lyrics. It's kinda like a different story in every verse

  • @pinkfloydfan2929 I always thought it was a river. "Ride the snake. He's old and his skin is cold."... Maybe?

  • @pinkfloydfan2929 satan's penis.

  • @guyNbluejeans great

  • Yeah,it seems we all born in wrong generation, except 3 ppl.

  • @TheWhiteberry2 Not me.....

  • goodbye alessandra ill love you forever

  • Its like this song Fit Apocalypse Now PBR Street Gang

  • 2 people fell off the end

  • white power

  • @IrishMactire

In my opinion, the lyrics are magnificent.

  • @UnstagedMusic Fair enough, different strokes fro different folks.

  • @UnstagedMusic Agree... see y'all in the end :D

  • @UnstagedMusic They have a deeper meaning that only true doors fans who have done their research understand. A piece art to say the least. (That and he was strung the fuck out when Jim did this live) Watch the movie ^^

  • @IrishMactire Its poetry man.

  • @IrishMactire They're not written in verse form - that would take a LOT of space! Also, Mr. Morrison capitalized words. It's unfair to judge a poem by its format!

  • @IrishMactire So....you like the song but not the lyrics? Not simplistic enough for you? I think you're comment "I've never really listened to the lyrics in this song properly before and having just read them through in the description there I realise they are quite bad... luckily the song is still awesome as a whole" is quite possibly the dumbest f'ing thing I have EVER subjected my brain to! I'm sure you're all over the Beatles "I wanna hold your hand," though!

  • @jerseyjoe5486 I agree that the lyrics are bad, and I have no idea why you think that his comment is dumb. Is it because you don't think music can be good if it has bad lyrics? If so, what are instrumentals and Janes Addiction for? Or is it because he'd never payed attention to them before, which is actually quite common when just casually listening to music, especially this sort of trance stuff. Or is it simply because his opinion differs from yours and you can't accept that?

  • @IrishMactire Well it's said in his bio that Morrison was either drunk or high when he wrote that song, so it's no surprise that it's a pretty abstract lyric

  • @IrishMactire

These are great lyrics, if you think the same way as Jim Morrison. Which, if you're a writer or a poet or appreciate a good read, then you'll get Jim. You know?

  • @IrishMactire you don't understand them cuz it's poethic and has more meanings than what is standing there

  • @worldof00t It's more abstract than 'poethic', and I reckon it's more likely that there's almost no meaning. He has been quoted saying 'I really don't know' what the meaning of the song is. It starts off as a song that is simply about the end of a relationship and then just stumbles on for 12 minutes of surreal, meaningless trance music. If you want poetic lyrics look up Elbow, that's the good stuff.

  • @FeederForLife I"m working on a cocktail called grounds for divorce.

  • @IrishMactire the lyrics are a poetic rant to create a trance i think there great but oh well

  • @IrishMactire The lyrics are beautiful

  • @IrishMactire you don`t understand them

  • one of jims tributes to Mary.

  • nice. merry christmas
