My brother turned me on to Yes in 1972 with The Yes Album. I been hooked since. My first serious date with a girl in HS was at a Yes concert in 74. Since then Ii have seen them a few times on concert and still have original LP's and later CD's.
Never really given it a listen before - born in 1965 in England so brought up on Black Sabbath, Led Zep etc plus Punk Rock and fights at soccer games on a Saturday wrecking stadiums home and away - I am definitely going to give this band a proper listen - may go crazy and buy CDs!
Simon Connor, Liverpool, UK.
PS The Canadian band `Rush` were like this - up to now I prefer Rush.
My apologies in advance to all that shall and rightfully so be offended by my language but I must express myself as this piece unfolds in my mind-- FUCK!! REAL musicians!!!! Great Artists!!! THE ULTIMATE BAND!! by any combination---- Squire and Anderson,,,and then Howe,, and White,,, and Wakeman,, and.......
Jeez...I went on Amazon to buy the DVD so it wouldn't look so horizontally distorted...and to support the Band with royalties. My favorite band and Yessong...Wakeman playing the Mini Moog...Be still my heart.
im only 20 years old but my father brought me up on the music of yes. I just wanted to say that i am jealous that music this beautiful isnt being made by people of my generation. This is by far one of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard.
What an awesome song! I had forgotten how much I love YES! Anderson still has the voice of an angel, Howe looks like an old professor, but still hicks ass on the guitar, Wakeman and Squire are rockin as well as White. But i was a little confused as to where the harmonica came from??? In a Yes song, really? Other than that, they sound even better than I remember them from the late 70's and early 80's when I saw them. Of course back then i had a few extra chemicals running through my system!
YEOW! OW! OW! GREATEST PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND ON THIS EARTH! YES! YES! YES! Brings back so many great memories of all the times I've seen them in concert. LOVE YES!!!
I don't know you, but I think is a blasphemy from Squire, White and Howe part, to play this song without Jon on vocals. Without him is nothing else but a karaoke version....and yeah, yeah: I'm over it.
Don't get me wrong, Jon Anderson's vocals sound good as ever, but it just sounds like he has a cold all the time now, he's not started smoking has he?
@jamma246 nothing like that mate its a combination of the fact that he is sadly getting on a bit now but also he now suffers from an asthma condition which means he struggles sometimes but as far as im concearned its still the voice of an angel.
Thank God for purists like Wakeman, who still use a Minimoog to play the signature synth parts. No "virtual" synths, or digital recreations will ever match that pure tone (and I will go to the grave with mine, serial #3913). However, I DO like the Mellotron emulation he is using !:P! The same, but slightly cleaner and much more stable !!! Peace:-)
@pithor if you know anything about YES, then you know that none of the band ever really gets 'dumped', YES was started by Jon Anderson and Steve Howe- as you recall, Rick Wakeman left the band for a while and was replaced by Patrick Moraz- and in the 80's Steve Howe left to play with GTR while Trevor Rabin 'filled in' for a couple of albums- but they always seem to come back- the lineup always seems to come back to the beginning. So no worries here. I've been a YES fan since I was a teenager.
Sorry dude, but if you knew anything about yes, you would know Chris Squire and Jon Anderson started yes with Tony Kaye on keys, Bill Bruford on Drums and Peter Banks on guitar, even though Steve Howe is by far my favirorite of all. Steve joined the band 2 years after they recorded their first album. Sorry, guess I have been listening to them a little longer than you and thought I would be doing you a disservice by not letting you know..
@Suuperman5461 thank you for that information! I did not know that, and appreciate the correction. That does not infringe on my idea, however, that Yes never really completely 'dumps' anyone- at one point or another they've all come back even if only for an album or two. True, no? It also does not degrade my enthusiasm for the band, which I still love even after all these years. Also, would I be mistaken in my assumption that Steve Howe wrote a great deal of the music for the early stuff?
Wow... So... Magical =O I could'nt listen to anything else ( Not even this song again ) for all the evening. A wonderful performance of a wonderful song, really. Wow... Damn...
Absolutely wonderful. I never get tired of this song, and every opportunity to watch how Rick performs those key parts is so much fun to watch. That SOUND! Thanks for posting. :)
I wish that Steve and Chris would not try to sing....ruins it

While the music at this show is one of the best later shows with original members, the director of photography clearly had no clue about the music.

It's just that he's not really a good singer.
Look up his live version of 'Soon' from amsterdam. For some reason he sings that one well.
