I can see that you have had a lot to deal with. I congratulate you on this video. You show a lot of love for your kids. I believe all you need to teach your kids is love and kindness. Let them know that God loves them very much, and that he doesn't make mistakes. He makes miracles, and tell them everyday that, "THEY ARE THE MIRACLES IN YOUR LIVES". Love them everyday in God's name, and leave the future in his hands. GOD BLESS YOUR WHOLE FAMILY IN THE NAME OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.
As I mentioned in the vid, my Dad's brother has always exhibited the symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome, though he was never officially diagnosed. My older son Michael has been diagnosed with PDD ( Pervasive Developmental Disorder ), which basically means he is on the Autism spectrum. Thankfully, it seems like he will have a very high-functioning form of Autism, or perhaps Asperger Syndrome. There will certainly be challenges in his life, be we are all hopeful.
Oh, to answer the first part of your question, I do not have autism. My uncle is the only person in my family ( aside from my son Michael ) that has Autism/Asperger symptoms. My younger son Peter is actually more speech-delayed than Michael was at the same age, but Peter doesn't have any other symptoms of Autism.
I have to say this, as a new subscriber through your response to one of Natalie's famous clips, I thought you were like 16, or roughly. It's probably your hair and hand gestures ;) Anyway, as a medical researcher, you might want to look into P-5-P (bioavailable B6), Magnesium Aspartate, Acetyl-L-Carnitine and DMG. They're all natural compounds, you can look them up on iHerb, won't take you more than 20 bucks for a monthly budget. Those are for improving verbal skills. Omega-3 is for ADD,etc
Everyone tells me I look exactly like I did in high school, and I would get ID-ed at bars/casinos well into my 30's, so it's not unsual for somebody to to think that I'm young. I don't mind at all because looking young for my age is much better than the alternative. Thanks for the info on the supplements.
Yes, teach your boys SOCIAL things like humour, sarcasm, innuendoes, facial expressions, voice tone because it's really hard as an adult with aspergers to not understand them. You trust people and inherently think that everyone is good, when you find you're wrong you lose confidence because you just don't understand people and it drives it home that you don't get it which is depressing. I shut people away so I'm not at risk of making those mistakes. It gets lonely.
Yes, my wife and I are really going to work hard to teach are sons social things that will come natural to most other people. Thankfully, the world is a lot more educated about Asperger's today than it was back in my Uncle's day. Back when my Uncle had his nervous breakdown in college, the doctors of the day responded by giving him electroshock therapy. That obviously didn't help.
have u considered the possibility that the fact ur son is half asian half white, he has the brain of asian and the social skills of the white!!
