This tank gets that spot because it was the 1st tank ever made and at the time there was nothink that could stop it. Second, when they do this list the statistics are based of comparison to other tanks at the time. Number four is a good spot for this tank.
@ppp9922 You're wrong. This list is not about tanks fighting each other. This is about the tanks that showed their effectiveness in their time. Which means, this tank truly sucks if compared to the modern tanks but it's still ranked #4 because at it's time it has been more useful than the other tanks at their time.

I think they wrote the names of all the tanks on paper, spin them, and chose one by one for 10 to 1.
@ZGzoids They were not just scary or the first. They completely changed the war as we know it. This is the tank that led to the creation of legends such as the Tiger tank and eventually led to modern master pieces like M1 tank. Tanks have become such an important part of war that its hard to imagine a war without tanks. If we were to choose tanks according to your standard, the top 10 tanks will be filled only with modern tanks and will leave out legends like tiger and t-34.

lol this calls itself "military" channel but they cant even get the first military use year right nor they call it right,ww1 tank lol. its called the mark 1, first use: 15 september 1916
@mafiokiller they never mentioned the first use year, so how can they've got the first use year wrong. There's not just the Mark I there were Mark II, III, IV, V etcetc. For the purpose of this show they were all too similar to be distinguished by exact name so they just called them WWI tank.
@imaddictedtowow112 You should read more about your facts before posting, the french weren't alone. And ww2 is highly irrelevant to the subject because this is WW1, you know, the one France won. And even after the "fall of France" in ww2, south france never actually surrendered and actually took part in the North Africa campaign.
Can anyone tell me if any of these tank, plane or navy vessals still survive in good working condition today? Is there one of these tanks in Indiana Jones? I think there is one on the last crusade.
On another topic, France hase one of the best military records in the entire world. On aceptions on fighting the Romans, and maybe a couplke of other wars, they were prety much top dog. France hase an ECELENT pre WW military history, EXCELENT. It's just a myth France are weak, thei foring legion is rival to even some American units. France have just been unlucky, Even poland hase hade a few great victories in it's time.
On 2:11 What will occur if you shoot with a machine gun or a pistol to the tank? I am not a native english speaker and sometimes I've problems understanding some expresions or speakers. Thanks for your help.
@IVLIVSCAESARAUGVSTUS when u shoot it with anything, pieces of armor would chip off and fly around the inside of the tank and could potentially injure or kill the crew
@Yora21 The engine was Daimler- the British Daimler Motor Company founded in Britain to exploit German Daimler patents. In 1910 it was was owned by BSA- (later known for motorcycles) but a big gun maker-they made the Dingo scout car in WW2 then the Ferret and the company was sold to Jaguar in 1960. A small number of cars are badged as Daimler instead of Jaguar- and the name Daimler is owned by Jaguar as well as Daimler-Benz of Germany. The British Royal Family used Daimler cars for decades.
Isn't this the MkV or something like that? There have been many different "WWI tanks." I don't know how to compare all the tanks from the beginning until now. It is sure that there are top tanks of every era itself. But to me it doesn't make sense to sort tanks from 1916 with tanks from 1942 and tanks from 1990 in a list from 10 to 1.
@potus170142 the program says that the "in November 1917, the tank finally proved it's worth. When the tanks were introduce at Comb*** (cause I can't spell) in 1917, it is the beginning of an evolution which will create armored warfare. " I tend to think they were talking more along the lines that tanks were being used correctly in mass rather than just having a battlefield debut.
@wyntje83 It was the first tank. You can't compare nearly hundred year old technology with more recent tech, it just doesn't work. You need to compare it with tech of World War One.
lol this tank is hilarious. I saw it IRL not a while ago and i gotta say thats its LOL ( there are three versions, Male, Female and Mixed[Male with cannons on side pylons, female with MGs, Mixed has cannons on left and mg on right]) and also they had long range communications. By the pigeons. And also, it was smoky and hot inside.
If you talk actually about the very first tank, it's not really appropriate to say it had a "Daimler 6-Cylinder" in it, because the first tank on battlefield was a british one, and I don't think that the Germans from Daimler would have been so nice to develop an engine for the british in ww1 ^^ anyhow in this video it sounds so. it's better to say "the engine was based on the "Daimler 6-Cylinder"
@omegapsi847 Prior to WW1 a British company assembled German Cars from Mercedes Benz. It later got the rights to manufacture them under license before producing it's own designs. It always called it's cars Daimler's and after being taken over by Jaguar both names were used quite often on the same models but with different grills. The 1st British 12cylinder aircraft engines of WW1 where copied straight out of a Mercedes Benz. The 1st BMW's were British supplied Austin 7's assembled under license
I like how he says it isn't big compared to modern tanks, sure it was allot lighter (28 tons vs the Abrams 70) but dimension wise, it was actually larger than most tanks in service today.
again this was 100 years ago, 200 years ago people waged wars with guns that fired 1 shot at the time and you could shoot 2 shots per minute if you where fast reloader, in 100 years from now someone will be watching videos of the technology we have today in history chanel and will be laughing out loud
Those 22 miles must been a very long trip. 1:11 Guy: Fuck this I'm walking. If this was WWI I would be shitting my self, not from fear, from laughter.
@TheFalconryFan you have to rember this was a war where gaining a mile of territory in a month was considered a success, anyway youre quite right its hilariously slow
At that time, even this slow speed machine was something that no one had ever seen before. Probably, the closest feeling we can come to that the German soldiers experienced would be like on one of those roller- coasters where the chain slowly pulls the cart to the highest point at the slow speed that makes everyone think what are they doing here before the hell- ride begins.
actually, the first mark tank was produced in 1916 and took part in the battle at the Somme. The "Royal Armored Division" had 50 of these babies in 1916, but only 24 of them were used in the Somme battle
Like the Sopwith Camel fighter plane, The tank was primitive and left much to be desired. But it worked in that it fulfilled a need and was revolutionary.
Yes, Aryeh Nusbacher is now a (slightly dodgy-looking) bird. So what? In this horrible series of glib programmes he - she - is consistently the best informed, most reliable contributor.
As uncomfortable as it may be for all the soldier-worshipping internet cadres, having your prong and 'nads chopped off is a far braver act than walking blindly into a roadside bomb that you didn't even fucking see, an act that is for some reason sufficient to elevate one to "hero" status today. 'Mon the tranny.
thats Stupid, the facts are so inaccurate! first that was the only allied tank and its name was the MK1 not "WWI Tank" the german had very few tanks because they were very techical compared to the MK1. And they were in service before 1917. the british version of this show is so much better because it not talking bullshit.

If you talk actually about the very first tank, it's not really appropriate to say it had a "Daimler 6-Cylinder" in it, because the first tank on battlefield was a british one, and I don't think that the Germans from Daimler would have been so nice to develop an engine for the british in ww1 ^^ anyhow in this video it sounds so. it's better to say "the engine was based on the "Daimler 6-Cylinder"
omegapsi847 1 year ago
@omegapsi847 Prior to WW1 a British company assembled German Cars from Mercedes Benz. It later got the rights to manufacture them under license before producing it's own designs. It always called it's cars Daimler's and after being taken over by Jaguar both names were used quite often on the same models but with different grills. The 1st British 12cylinder aircraft engines of WW1 where copied straight out of a Mercedes Benz. The 1st BMW's were British supplied Austin 7's assembled under license

I like how he says it isn't big compared to modern tanks, sure it was allot lighter (28 tons vs the Abrams 70) but dimension wise, it was actually larger than most tanks in service today.
wolfyys 1 year ago
again this was 100 years ago, 200 years ago people waged wars with guns that fired 1 shot at the time and you could shoot 2 shots per minute if you where fast reloader, in 100 years from now someone will be watching videos of the technology we have today in history chanel and will be laughing out loud

Those 22 miles must been a very long trip. 1:11 Guy: Fuck this I'm walking. If this was WWI I would be shitting my self, not from fear, from laughter.

Magmadragonogristvha 1 year ago
It was strong but the speed are too slow.

actually, the first mark tank was produced in 1916 and took part in the battle at the Somme. The "Royal Armored Division" had 50 of these babies in 1916, but only 24 of them were used in the Somme battle

Not vunerable to small arms fire - heavy machine guns, yes! NOT PISTOLS! The germans developed a special bullet called "K bullet".
Also the american voice over is really grating!

'Mon the tranny.

and yet it scored higher then other modern tanks.

@emperorzit They weren't comparing it to modern tanks they were comparing it to the weaponry back during that time.

metallord999 1 year ago
thats Stupid, the facts are so inaccurate! first that was the only allied tank and its name was the MK1 not "WWI Tank" the german had very few tanks because they were very techical compared to the MK1. And they were in service before 1917. the british version of this show is so much better because it not talking bullshit.
