  • yay, Mystical Adventures part III, love it! the head on this one is so classic (and classical), tasty guitar solo here, and on the album!

  • @jamesedwardtheobald thanks very much!!

  • And now with mister Ponty again!!.It was a pleasure to see you playing in my city,Concepcion-Chile last november 16.Love the sound of your guitar in cosmic messenger. And in elephants in love when you came in 1988.I hope to see you again in my city with Jean Luc Ponty and his friends,Griffin,Lecomte,Browne.

    God bless all of you.

  • @pegaso1088 thank you so very much!! We had a great time in Concepcion and on this tour

Hope to see you again!! my best Jamie

  • Yes, there is nothing like the tone of an Ibanez "Artist"...with the "Super 58" pickups in her. Not even a Gibson LP can touch it. Jamie you made her "sing like a siren"!

  • @jagdwerksdraago thank you so much...wish I still had that guitar ! It was a lot cooler than I gave it credit for .

Ibanez came to my rescue by giving that to me .. my es 335 was stolen by drug dealers at a show of ours

I saw Ibanez for the first time that day in a music store and called them.. In 4 hours 2 men were at the concert hall with 7 new guitars for me to try. I remember their kindness and that was my first endorsement ! Cheers jamie

  • I actually have the vinyl!

  • @Deborah1958ful that makes ONE of us

do you have something to play vinyl on?

by the way we came by your house...yep all three of us...didnt knock ...one car that didnt look like it was yours

long story... it wasnt a good time to knock

next time ... I will though

    xo

    jamie

  • Joaquin played the solo on Beach Girl. He also played the guitar solos on A Taste for Passion and Dreamy Eyes. Jamie played the solos on Sunset Drive and Life Cycles.

    Hope this helped!

(And I should know, right Jamie??!!)

    Petunia.

  • @Deborah1958ful she definitely should know and I may ask her myself in the future. I dont have the CD's here and sometimes I wonder what I played on. Thanks Debs

    hugs

    jamie

  • Do you still have that ibanez? Great clips! :)

  • @nylonsteel nope it was great though I will answer your PM as soon as I can...im in the studio 16 hours a day right now, thanks fellow Long islander

  • Hi Jamie: great work on this! BTW can you settle the debate on who the bassist on this... thanks!

  • @bgbyer thanks...

there should be no debate my friend... Its KEITH JONES as I put in the video description when this was posted

that always makes it easier LOL

    thanks again

    Jamie

  • @koza821 thank you!! ha ha I dont remember ...

live we used to trade solos and I dont have any of the albums here

sometimes I hear our old recordings and wonder whos doing what ..well sorta

let me know what you find out LOL

    Jamie

  • Very nice! I had the opportunity to see you guys a couple of times back in 1978 or so. At that time I was the guy making the electric violins at Barcus-Berry and was working with Jean-Luc on a couple of his fiddles. It was really my introduction to jazz fusion. It was you, JLP, Ralphe, Casey and Joaqin burning it up. I'll never forget it.....

P.S. What was that wicked bitchen effect on your guitar for the solo in this video?

  • @rubyfocus thanks for coming by,,,I appreciate it

this only had a DDL somewhere in the background

it was a Randall amp and the Ibanez

I never used lots of effects...thanks again

    jamie

  • Jamie, great performance! BTW, I went to religous school with your little brother for 5 years. He passed that whole time away drumming on his desk with his knuckles, lol. Saw you a few times at MY Father's Place back in the day opening up for the main act. Really dug your playing. Fusion got me through an otherwise rather boring period for music from '73 to '77. For people who really appreciated playing ability without being obsessed with whether or not it was dancable, lol. Keep rockin'!

  • @Howiebob57 wow...religious school..you mean in Hempstead

would he remember you? hes still on Long Island

    sure appreciate the nice comment

    thanks

    Jamie

    jamieglaser-com

  • @jglaser333 Yeah, that's where. I remember you a little from there as well. Would he remember me? I dunno. Tell him Howie T., the kid who used to hang out with tough guy Steven B. on the side of the building and smoked all the time. :-)

  • @Howiebob57 okie dokie Ill let him know Howie

    Happy New year

    jamie

  • Jamie: great work! That must have been a great feeling to play with such awesome musicians.

  • 2:07-2:12 - that's the stuff right there!

  • @JonP1961 thanks for taking the time to comment

    my best

    Jamie

  • Jaimie...the JLP era when you were his guitarist was my favorite period...saw many your shows during the late '70s-early '80s. Has anyone ever noticed how much Alan Zavod looked like Christopher Lloyd during the Reverend Jim era of "Taxi"??

  • @steelybob58

sure appreciate the message ,...thank u

ill pass your comment on to Alan and see what he says LOL

    my best

    Jamie

  • @jglaser333

    You're welcome Jaimie.

Tell Alan that I mean that comment in the most flattering way possible. :)

    Take care,

    Bob

  • Jamie looks real 70's here (hair style...LOL)........but looks mean nothing. His playing is light-years beyond his contemporaries at the time....and even NOW.

  • @bobmuse40 Bob

I still look like that....well maybe a little less hair

    heee heee

thanks for the kind comment brother

    Jamie

  • Hey Jamie: KILLER CHOPS & SUCH A HOTTIE!!!!!!! My guitarist sons ages 19 yrs and 17 yrs love you. My violinist daughter 12 yrs-listens to you, cause she "trusts" my taste in music. jamieglaser-com

  • @jglaser333

Yes, several guitars and pieces of equipment I wish I still had. I checked out your site.I had no idea all the things you have been doing. It looks like your doing some very worthwhile projects. Gander guitars are cool and Iloved your version of Hocus Pocus. I hope you realize how much of an influence you and some of your contemporaries in the 70's and 80's were to rock players like myself looking to branch out in their playing. Best of luck and continued success!

    Dave Iannopollo

  • @61SG

    thanks Dave

    I appreciate the note

    my best

    jamie

  • Love your music Jamie - you're truly talented - and what a groove you lay down on this song. This has actually inspired me to try to buy some JLP albums off iTunes. I hope they're available!

    jamie

  • @jglaser333 Hehehe I'm buying the albums from Amazon - saves a lot of time and effort, heh heh!

  • Great playing Jamie...this is the music that moves my soul...how awesome it must have been to play fusion with Jean-Luc Ponty in fusion's heyday!!

  • thanks...It was a blast! I loved playiung with him and the bands we had

    Jamie

  • Music was so exciting and different back then, but you couldn't really put a label on it. Right on man!

Saw you with JLP three times a number of years ago. All shows were amazing, but you guys w/ Yellowjackets was the best twin-bill ever!

    Regards,

    Kevin

  • jamie I was just lamenting missing JLP's recent show here in Va. when I came across this video. The last time I saw you play was in 89 at Lisner Auditorium, D.C. The whole band blew me away. I couldn't concentrate on Jean-Luc for all the talent on that stage. Your playing was so complimentary to Jean-Luc it's no wonder he wanted you in his band. I hope you are doing well and playing well. Rob in Va.

  • thanks Rob

I surely appreciate you taking time to write such a nice comment

JLP was and will always be my favorite gig of all time. I stay in touch with him and see him whenever he is in town.

  • Jamie,

Do you remember going to your local pool store in Granada Hills and this young guy behind the counter said, "Are you THE Jamie Glaser?". You looked up and was so shocked that anyone recognized you - this was in 1984 or so. That was a kick. Dang - where have the days gone!? I hope your musical life has been rich since then. All the best - L

    Jamie

  • Those guitar lines have a tone as fat as that of Allan Holdsworth! Delicious!

  • thank you!

Alan is a good friend,,and I took over for him with Ponty,,,used to be quite jealous of his beautiful tone

so much of it is his touch..his fingers

He is one of a kind

    thanks for your comment

    Jamie

    jamieglaser-com

  • I agree that Allan is one of a kind - but then again if you sounded exactly like him it wouldn't sound as interesting would it? You have your own personality in your playing, as does he. So Jean-Luc picking you as guitar player was an excellent choice.

  • thank you!!

  • Wow Jamie! Awesome. I have always been a huge fan. I play electric violin so I have always been a Ponty fan and love seeing these old vids. Now off to search for your new stuff.

  • Hi Jamie,

I'm a long time J.L.P. fan. Currently immersed in my own music making, I took a short break, turning for inspiration to a well worn copy of your awesomely spirited Montreaux performance posted here!

My best wishes regarding your current endeavours, and thanks for enhancing my days

  • Thanks very much!

I wish you great luck with your projects

    My best

    jamie

  • WOW!! Jamie Glaser!! We used to get high in a friend's basement way back when and listen to your recordings with Jean-Luc Ponty. We'd say: "Listen to Jamie Glaser, his sound is soooo cool..." You are still the BEST!! Thanks for all the great memories. And best of luck with the Chinchillas and all....

  • LOL,,,I started reading this and thought I GOT HIGH somewhere,,,man Im a pretty sober guy

    ha ha

Well high or not glad you enjoyed and enjoy the music.

Lots of fans have been surprised that I am alive... with my new CD Music for Pets and people. I get mail like where have you been ..all the time. I guess writing for TV and producing doesnt out my name out there like the Ponty days..but thank goodness Im as busy as ever.

  • I remeber seeing you with JLP on the TV back in the eighties! Amazing stuff - a really great band! I sure you played with JLP at Montreaux too?

    Jamie

  • now this is just some downright awesome guitar playing!! you rock!

  • thank you

  • cool stuff!

  • Thanks for watching

    Jamie

  • I'm glad I found your videos. We have similiar interests in guitar playing and chinchillas. I'm a HUGE fan of instrumental music, mainly guitars whether it be metal, rock, blues or jazz. As I get older (I'm only 26) but I appreciate jazz more and more.

I am amazed you went to Berkley with Mike Stern and Al Dimeola. Two great jazz guitarists. Plus you got to play with Steve Smith. Playing with Chick Corea and Jean Luc Ponty....my god you are a lucky man.

  • thanks...

I dont put too many music things on youtube

    I appreciate you watching!!

    your friend

    Jamie

  • You should put some more on. I would absolutely love to watch them. Are there any DVDs out with your playing?

  • Hi, I`m from venezuela, I do not speak very well English! Hahaha, sorry about the writing mistakes...but great video!, you and the other musicians are legendary,.. I have a question for you, ¿what keyboards and synthesizers are those that Allan Zavod was using in this video? I like to write to Allan Zavod , do you have his e-mail? Thank you!

  • Hi there

I dont really remember what Allan used..aside from the Synclavier and arp 2600 and a few other things. Im sorry I cant give you Allans email address...he's a pretty private person.

    And he's tough to find.

I appreciate you writing my friend

    Gracias

    Jamie

  • Godhead! I have seen you and Mr. Ponty many times and I am pleased that these are available. Didn't you technically replace Alan Holdsworth after Enigmatic Oceans? Or was it Daryl Sturmer? You're inspired playing is on a par with either of these gentlemen. Amazing stuff.

  • Thanks my friend

Yes..I replaced Alan Holdsworth and it was some big shoes to fill. he's still my fave
