Wow, lots of differences early on here -- even the contestants were screwing up! Plus, WTCN was a Metromedia station known for the creepy "Eleveneleveneleven" station ID here on YT.
THe pot in the maingame was replaced starting with week two by each game being worth a flat $500, with Sprints worth $1500(Pink and Blue bonus squares debuted on 10/15/84, which is the earliest episode USA reran). Jack went on to win the $20K on the next show, he was defeated after his sixth or seventh win IIRC.
I thought they added the audience pit right the exact moment they stopped straddling, but then I saw a clip from the end credits to a 1986 episode with straddling, and by that point, they had an audience pit.
@vnisanianisback they most likely added the audience pit a few eps. after the backwall on the set went from the pink backwall w/ blue circles and non-flashing Scrabble logo to the more familiar blue backwall w/ pink circles and flashing Scrabble logo.
@vnisanianisback no the main logo that hovered over the set. Watch the early episodes and compare the set to the set on the later episodes and there is a slight difference w/ the main Scrabble logo that hovered over the set.
compare the closing credits of the early episodes to the closing credits of some later episodes, like the 1986 Scrabble All-American Toruney episode and look very closely at the main Scrabble logo above the set and you'll see a slight difference.
@megamanj2004X Another thing I'd like to bring up. In the opening to these early episodes, there would be a shot of the set with fast chase-light sequences. But when Chuck makes his entrance, they're completely slow. That's because the first shot is from the pilot episode. When they brought in the audience pit, they stopped doing that.
Did you get this from Jon P?

Loved this show at the time ... and even at the time I knew it had a distinctly '80s feel!
I enjoy the bonus of hearing Jay Stewart of Let's Make a Deal!

Did they get rid of your channel other channel? Do you only have one channel now?

@tracy80sgirl Well, the NBA gave that channel the final deathblow. I have a couple other channels, but they're last resorts.
gamelover1949 2 months ago
@gamelover1949 or you can also use Dailymotion since their site is more copyright-friendly than YT is.

They're probably there, but this is the third episode, so maybe it just wasn't accentuated early in the run.
