  • i dont care if they have 1 drummer, 2, or a thousand! point is 38 special is a kick ass band who can rock any house they go to with as many instruments as they want! quit worrying about how they make their awesome music and enjoy it!

  • Don has a voice that goes with the songs he sings, this is real music. I still listen to the 70's an 80's bands, LS, Boston, ARS, journey, Bob Segar you get the message, is there any bands today that plays that kind of music? If not I will keep listen to all my favorite music from the early 70's. Did I mention the eagles? Almost gave away my age.

  • From a wild eyed southern girl who was there when this was on the air fresh, I miss you guys and Lynard of course. Jacksonville,Fla. and radio WAPE.1970's come alive again watching this.

  • @mississippi976 :-) From a wild eyed southern boy, I was there too. Graduated from Ed White H.S. in 1974. Skynyrd played at our Jr Sr prom in 73. And also at a lot of the dances at LakeShore Jr. Hi for 50 cents a head back in 68-70. Those were the good old days! Ronnie Donnie ahd Johnnys' folks lived about a 1/2 mile from the school. And who can forget WAPE (The Big APE). I won and still have 15 Beatle albums (Apple) in 1 of thier contests. Southern rock is timeless. .

  • @mississippi976 - I like your post and I feel EXACTLY the same way. I grew up in JAX and Callahan during the 70's and early/mid 80's. I remember the Greaseman when he was on 690 - AM, WAPE. Those were some fun days. :-)

  • I LOVE the high beams on the backup singer in the white top.

  • My first love gave me this album in 1981 - Many a party did this album travel! - Those tumultuous teenage nights - in the back seat of my 73' charger - man, I miss my youth!!!

  • Vocals=Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant...Great band and I loved Carlisi's riffs.

  • Gotta love it!!!!! one of the best southern bands ever!!!!...brings back thoughts of so many awesome summer nights!!!!

  • Jolynn751, Johnny was never in 38, he fronted the Johnny VanZant band. Brick Yard Rd was their biggest song. Donnie was always the lead for 38.

  • VEVO SUX

  • Umm yall thats Johnny Vanzant singing....Donnie Vanzant is in the back...

  • @Jolynn751

Sorry but that is Donnie singing Johnny was never a part of 38 special he had his own group before becoming the lead for Skynaryd.

  • @ppwers00 Im very aware of that but ive met both of them....and I live in Jax Fla so their image tends to be everywhere.....if you look in the back theres Donnie...

  • @Jolynn751 OK something got misunderstood here. Donnie is the one singing with Don here. Johnny is the one who sings with Skynaryd now.

  • yeap they still doin it. i saw them last night

  • everything about these guys in this gig they played for the videos they made from it rocked u can tell they put on a good show as well their albums rocked ..... hair guitars the look and lighting all awesome... .

  • The Van Zant brothers always make good music...

    van zant band....Lynyrd Skynyrd....etc etc...

    You gotta love it...

  • Wtf that dude looks just like Dimebag Darrell

  • Did Donnie ever serve any useful purpose? Why did he even have a guitar?

  • @missionaryridge 1) He was the original lead singer. 2) He co-wrote many of the songs. 3) He was the one who convinced Don Barnes to start singing some lead vocals (on the Rockin' Into the Night album).

  • They had so many great songs!

  • love this damn song 2 death!!! ROCK ON SOUTHERN BOYS!!!!

  • And the South shall rise again!

  • Jesus would be perplexed at best...I don't get it...

  • Boy, back in the day, Donnie sure looked like Ronnie's twin! Especially with the hat! Great video, great sound. Thanks

  • @TheHart241 They still could be twins, imo. To think that Donnie's what, 3 -4 years younger than Ronnie was?

  • @matteskes Wouldn't it be great for Donnie and Johnny to do a video like Hank Jr did with Hank Sr, with Ronnie, doing Free Bird. That would be the most awesome ever. I've always been a VanZant fan, in every form and fashion! Of course, I'm 50, so I've seen every lineup of everything to do with a VanZant. Love those wild-eyed Southern Boys!

  • @TheHart241 You mean Ronnie.
