Impressive. I was listening to a Phil Ochs playlist and you came up. I thought you were Ochs there for a bit. Since I cant think of a song of his that I don't love I can only say i'm more than pleasantly surprised to hear you sing this. You did an amazing job of it.
That was beautiful!! Great man. Perfect song for you. I grew up fighting my dad for playing Phil Ochs, but now I love his songs as much as my dad does.
WOW! Your rendition of this Phil Ochs song really resonated with me--literally. Your vocals and guitar are so beautiful harmony together that at times they actually made me shiver a little bit. Keep up the with the music! ~Ryan~
Jim and Jean did this song (I think Jim was a friend of Phil Ochs).I just checked--you can buy the CD on Amazon for $199. Wow. Anyway, Nate, I love your style and your repetoire--Phil Ochs, Kenny Rankin.... Do you know Tim Hardin? i think you would sing his stuff really well ("How can we hand on to a dream" "Misty Roses" Keep singing and playing and posting. You're great.
I love this song. It's tough to play, such a great song. Too bad the songwriter never got the credit he deserved. Hopefully you do one day, kid. You've got major potential. Peace & love, brother.
This is one of my favorite songs of all-time. I've been a Phil Ochs fan since the early 70s. You really did a terrific job here. You have an excellent voice. Your rendition was emotional and sincere. Nicely done.
My disappointment at the fact that the Phil Ochs version had been corrupted to have only the first 39 seconds available probably made my assesment a little harsh. Your voice and diction are admirable. Try to give more feeling to the song.
@NateJones1 This is the best cover of this song I have heard and better than what they have by Phil on YT (30 secs I think). You nailed it. Your playing and voice is stunning and I don't just hand out compliments easily.
good work! you're renditions are always really soulful. it's a little pitchy in places but other than that, great song. make sure to post if you're gonna do summer shows in cleveland!
well done nate

Not bad... I prefer the original by Ochs himself, but not a bad cover at all bro. Keep up the work.

Good voice and lots of feeling in the singing.
I also like the laid back style of guitar playing here.
Mostly the folky guitar picking disturbs me in other versions, even in the original Phil Ochs version.
Not here.
Great!

Phil would be proud of this one. Wonderful cover.
I once did a cover of "The Passing of My Life" at an open mic night at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, Calif. Those folks knew Phil Ochs well.
Incidentally, John Doe of X covered "Chords of Fame" during many concerts at McCabe's.

Great song that is unfortunately obscure. I remember some group had a hit with this. Chad and Jeremy? Anyone? Great rendition!!!
