(1)The 228 Massacre was an anti-government uprising in Taiwan that began on February 27, 1947 and was violently suppressed by the ROC KMT . Before the 228 massacre was broke out, the mood of the crowd, which had already been harboring many feelings of frustration from KMT rule, reached breaking point. The ROC garrison troops who came from mainland China were highly undisciplined, looting, stealing, and contributing to the overall breakdown of infrastructure and public services.

According to the New York Times on March 29, 1947, an American said, “Troops from China arrived at Taiwan on March 7 and indulged in three days of indiscriminate killing and looting. For a time everyone seen on the streets was shot at, homes were broken into and occupants killed. In the poorer sections the streets were said to have been littered with dead.

@kaito8209 The Three Alls Policy (Kill all, Burn all, Loot all) sanctioned by Hirohito was to massacre an entire village if they suspected an enemy hiding in the village, such as the Panjiayu Massacre in Hebei, China.

More than 100,000 civilians and POWs died in the construction of the Death Railway (or Thailand-Burma Railway), especially at Hellfire Pass.

After March 20, 1943, the Japanese Navy was under orders to execute all POWs taken at sea.

At least six different chemical and biological attacks were conducted in China, such as Changde chemical and biological weapon attack in Hunan, and twice Kaimingjie germ weapon attacks in Zhejiang, chemical weapons attack in Battle of Wuhan and Battle of Zaoyang-Yichang.

Cyanide gas was tested on Australian and Dutch POWs on Kai Islands of Indonesia.

@kaito8209 Thousands of POWs and captured civilians were transported to Japan, Taiwan, Indochina, Manchuria, or Korea to be used as forced labor perished in Hell ships such as Oryoku Maru, Junyo Maru, Dainichi Maru, Arisan Maru, and many more.

Only 52,000 of the 270,000 Javanese forced laborers being sent to other Japanese held areas survived after WWII, a death rate of 80%.

A tacit order from Hirohito to execute all Chinese POWs before the surrender of Japan, out of thousands of Chinese POWs, only 56 survived; and to eliminate evidences, all surviving human test subjects in Japanese Army’s chemical and biological research units were executed before the surrender of Japan.

Comfort women mostly from Korea and China, also Philippines, Taiwan, Burma, the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), Netherlands, and Australia were forced into sexual slavery in frontline Comfort Stations in China, Indochina and Indonesia.

Cannibalism in many parts of Asia and the Pacific against POWs, e.g. Chichi Jima and Bonin Islands, in some cases, flesh was cut from living people.

I was very disappointed that what consider the must powerful evidence to support the existence of Nanking Massacre is only a two minute presentation.They only show a few takes of deserted street and very depress people but no mounting dead corps.

@canman5060 I'm inclined to agree, it was anticlimatic, but the fact remains that it happened. There are the written diaries of the foreigners who stayed there, including the famous John Rabe, and the oral testimonies from both sides - Tamaki Matsuoka, the Japanese scholar shown in the beginning of this documentary, has recently filmed a documentary which includes a number of Japanese veterans admitting to the massacre.
