@TwoHeartsBornToRun yes you are right! Steve Perry is just the darn sexiest man, sorry Gregg Rollie, but you are best as a Keyboardist:) it's Always been about Steve Perry.
@koalajones88 Perry had a definitive style that appealed to women in general. That said, really it depends on who you asking. Rollie formed the original Journey post Santana, his style is more rock blues. Perry pandered to the radio pop songs, brought in by the record company. Rollie continued I suppose for the paycheck, never thought he embraced this genre. At any rate Good Memories.
after the NEXT album, there was sooo much anticipation for the #4....then ..BAM what the fuck happened to the music that was light years ahead of it's time...STILL...thank you original 4
Actually, ara572, Smith was a well established Jazz session player who was from what I heard, classically trained. Aynsley Dunbar was and is one of the all-time great session players as well. It's irrelevant which one someone thinks is better. They both made their contribution. If you check a lot of Jazz liner notes, you will find Smith there, and for a lot of big name, cross-genre artists.
@missbitch67 nope it makes no difference. The reason Perry feigned his talent in the area of playing any instrument. He actually had zero training formal/informal.
He wanted to draw attention to his desire to say look Im playing a cowbell....its funny tho because he should stick to vocals, and Gregg needs to sit down...while I don't mind watching him shake his stuff in those white pants :)
@tinkerbelle2630 Yeah our boy Greg filled out those pants WELL.He would have given a horse a run for his money. LOL !! But I agree, Greg's a cute guy, very talented but so not front man material.
@HMACDONALD69 ROTFLMAO.....you know this look for Gregg was par back in the day! Makes you wonder tho, seeing many photos he sometimes looked as if the horse had taken on a metamorphosis,.Not sure how hygienic[commando] that was either. Sigh....sure I would have dated this guy....:) Check out the clips from Chicago Soldier Field in 1978 you will see what I mean, Gregg climbs the stairs to perform. Another comment was about a endowment.
Are you kidding me.... Steve Smith is good in his own way, but put his accomplishments up against Aynsley's and see who has played with more bands, had more hits, launched more careers of singers and guitar players and Steve looks like he just started. Aynsley is one of the most under rated drummers of our era.
Personaly I think that the harmonizing was great. and my first thought was WOW Steve Perry can sing with anybody and sont only can he sound great but he can make the other person sound great as well.
antiverdun, Sure, SP was irrelevant to EVERYTHING that was put out before him...such as this song, especially since the lead singer of THIS song is STILL in the band at THIS Soundstage performance. Seriously, what could he do? It would be like taking the "Escape" line-up, have them play "Don't Stop Believin'", and throw G.Rolie in there. What in the world could he add to that? An accompanying piano piece? What a waste for such a talent!
waywardsmile, i take your point. mine was that the pre -perry journey was first and last an awesome hard rock band, one of the best ever, and the perry journey was a pop band, ok if you dig that kind of stuff. me, i just got "look into the future", in my mind one of the greatest rock albums of all time, and to see perry add his distracting pop harmonies and stand off in the corner hitting his cowbell only makes me shake my head and wonder what heights they might have reached
this comment about Greg "losing" to Steve is idiotic. Journey co-founders Greg & Neil HIRED Steve Perry, after hiring and firing another lead singer, Robert Fleischman. Clearly any real fan knows he was not competing with Perry for the lead vocals job.
lmafia, I'm definitely one of the biggest SP fans out there, but I assure you Gregg wasn't trying to "outdo" Steve. It's just that THIS song was a pre-Perry song, co-written by Gregg, so HE is actually the singer of it. Not to mention, he, along with Neal and Herbie (their manager), were the ones who formed Journey...5 yrs. prior to Steve's entering the band. I DO think you'd agree that Gregg's vocals stamped one of the most recognizable Santana songs, "Black Magic Woman".
This music is absolutely unbellievable. Journey should have grown some balls and went back to playing like this after Perry left. Now they're nothing but a circus side show act, too bad.
TRUTH BE TOLD THEY DID PLAY ALOT OF THEIR TRACKS WITH THE NEW FRONT MAN HOWEVER IT WAS REALLY PISSING OFF THE hard core steve perry fans, myself included.. sometimes things should be left alone and its right what you said circus side show. i am more than sure folks will disagree.. but i am speaking not as a fan .... i am speaking of career suicide...... imagine replacing glenn frey/henley nobody can sing like they do.... i have given up hope for a reunion... c
oh and how can one prove that? it is personal opinion, dude. Never said Steve Smith wasnt good, I just personally like Aynsley alot better. I think he had and has way more style
They should've re-released the first three albums with Steve's harmonies. That would sound totally killer!

I love ya too, but that's the Spanish version. Amo TE is the Portugese version. I asked my friend who is Spanish and that's what he told me.
Dixie1947 4 years ago 2
I love you in Portugues can be said in two ways;
"Eu te amo"...in this form te(you) is used when it precedes the verb or one can say "Eu amo você" (vo-say) when 'you'(você) follows the verb.
