Every culture has people of all color, I did some hunting and all I can say is all the pictures of Ancient Egypt show people as being very dark in complexion, could be is the skin color or the over exposure to sun, also Egypt is part of the African continent, so this might be why he merged the two.

Or quite simply it's Michael's take on video. Done for artistic reasons or he has visited and noted this trend who knows.
