  • in my lessons, in my attic schoolroom, I learn so many new words

from my governess Elizabeth, like 'honeymoonearth' , definition:

you're only young (in the gold dust rush) once, so enjoy it while

you can, it all has you fooled in the end like many a prospective

    husband. That's what she said.

  • @flaxlawna Thats so true, Ive learned totally new words from Liz,

not to mention a whole new way of singing lol, brilliant aint it :)

  • I mean 0:55?

  • Definitely a song words can't describe. What is that scary thing at 0.55?

  • hey shum :D, i've started covering the songs i know :D i responded to this vid with my acoustic cover of it. check it out and lemme know what you think bro :D!

  • @stoopiddub333 Hi there I sure will watch your video response my friend :)

    my gold dust rush.

  • @posypity Lol great comments my friend :-))

  • I'm a french fan of them. When i was a teenager i used to listen a radio who played this song but without saying who was playing. The song for a siren is being used for an adverstising in france and i still didn't know that was them. I finally, years after that, find them and i'm so glad to listen to their music very often. It is so damn good music !!

  • @azureoful Hi there great to hear from you my friend, hope all

is good over in France, my sister lives near Bergerac airport.

I so agree it is damn good music, Liz's vocals are so distinctive,

"Song To The Siren" is one of my all time faves also...

Great to hear from you azureoful..!!! :))

  • @gullwingtrucks Yeah it does have that horror like feel about this vid m8..

I used clips from the film "The Village" like Ure cheeky icon photo,, :)

  • @RHutton2710 Yeah, those amazing vocals from Liz are spell binding here,

I love her trade mark yodels..and the music is dreamy bliss... ;)

  • I fucking love this song and cocteau twins , I belive this sort of music is appreciated only by people who have real good taste in music and have listened to a lot of bands.... This song for me is like a " paradigma" of how goth - post punk music should be.... :)

song, its good to hear from you.......

  • Liz Fraser's voice is magic!!

  • @HarryPotter87 Your so right my friend, love her vocals here, esspecially that yodel.

  • @HarryPotter87 Elisabeth Fraser is the only female vocalist that no matter how many times I listen to a song by them, I never get tired of.

  • @Kotakai Well said my friend, I totally agree with you......!!!!

  • Agreed. it has been more than 25 years since I listened Cocteau Twins at first, but I've never get tired (ouch! my age will be exposed). I still love their songs so much. She is the originator of the style of singing like that, isn't she? And every parts are unique and amazing, I think they are the only one. True treasure.

  • Cool, intriguing video - but now I'll associate terror with this wonderful song!

  • Hi xensboy,It was such a good laugh doing

the video to this fantastic song, please dont

let my interpretation in anyway change your

own thoughts and feelings on it my friend!

The hammer going down, was a pun on digging for

    gold,the masked mad-man was only me,also the

face in the dark, was also me having a laugh!

Just enjoy the ride dear friend!!

  • Love the mix of images and scenes here! I hope there were no combustibles near the candle this time, shum! Jesus, that hammer is a shocker! Is someone about to done in, or it it just a bit of repair work inside the cathedral? Oh, nice ending credit pic, too!

  • Im getting good at the olde hammer thrusts?

A bit too good, looks like Im slightly getting

    carried away!!(in a straight jacket!!)

Yeah,no mishaps with the candle this time?-

whats a few singed eye brows amongst friends!!

Glad you liked the end part, its taken from the

film the Village, it just cried out for the -

end credits! a bit like me when I took the -

flame to my long lamented eye brows!!

  • Oh, I recently posted elsewhere that I've always had half an idea that this song was about cocaine... Gold Dust, or Fool's Gold?... kinda like Heaven, or only a tawdry, ephemeral Las Vegas?

  • Cheers bobby! I,ve never really thought about

the real meaning of this fab song, just love -

the fast moving pace of the beat!!

And that amazing yodeling voice from Liz!!

followed by the drums, and those ace guitars!!

Thanks bobby my dear friend! for taking the -

time to comment!!its Always a pleasure to hear

    from ya!!

  • Hey there, shum! I don't know what happened to my first comment about your vid. I was sure it successfully posted, before I went on to post a second comment about the possible meaning of the song, but it up and disappeared. Anyway, I tried to repost it from memory (not easy when one is on Ambien and about 8 hours have passed). Oh, your right about the yodeling voice - she sounds great doing that!

  • Cheers dear bobby!! Hey!you should hear me in

full yodeling flight? on the other hand, maybe

not!! it can sound acutely disturbing, and you

could well be traumatised for years 2 come!!

  • I think I could deal with it, and would probably enjoy it! I've always loved yodeling, though it's not a skill I possess. One of my favorite songs ever is Nina Hagen's African Reggae, from '79, in which she does a lot of yodeling to a strong reggae beat, and sings about a variety of interesting topics. It's like Heidi goes to Kingston. Also, I was just presented with a novelty electronic yodeling pickle toy - it sounds really good! I think yodeling is on the rebound - so practice up!

  • Well if you heard me yodeling, you,d realize

that its not a skill I excel in either!!

But like you,I love how it sounds, and would

really like to learn, with the right song!

Somehow,it would feel wrong yodeling say at

full throttle to "Abide with me" at someones

funeral!!(One of my fave hymns by the way)

A Novelty electronic yodeling pickle toy?!!
