Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa can't wait my laptop windows 7 home premium coming with 390GB new hard drive I got disk 1 / 2 home premium !!!
so windows 7 doesnt come with movie maker? is it free to download or do i have to buy it? and if i do buy it does it allow me to record video through the built in webcam? please lmk thanks
@northpaw2000 mainly because of security reasons, Also home editions can't get XP mode which you can use if your downloading/installing a program that you believe to have a virus, you can isolate the virtual machine from your computer so if the virtual machine "keels over" with viruses then you just delete it's hard drive xD
haha, your really funny, this is a awesome review, thanks, it helps more than others! "Yeah, i really love this computer, but no, not as much as my girlfriend, in case she's watching" 555
Xp was faster at games then Vista thats why Microsoft when back to the design board and made Win 7 its Vista under the hood but with a super charger and less weight.
Im using a win7 64bit computer as i write this and its nice but if you got vista which I already have and I see very little improvement. If you got vista stay put or you will be throwing money away.
yes this is home premium...and the reason you dont have aero(the glass effect) is becasue your computer is probably old and does not support this effect, i had the same problem on my old pc, so i got new laptop and it works great.
I torrented Windows 7 Utimate, is it possible, I lose ANY DATA. I mean I do lose ANYTHING . I really dont wanna lose any of my music....I have like 24GB of Music. And I dont wanna lose it , but I might still upgrade because, I;m getting a new 160GB iPod this week, and I can store my Music on it, and then later transfer it from my iPod back to my iTunes, if any music is lost. The rest I really dont care bout.
it should keep your data, as for example all of you installed programs. the work files should also be saved. if its from vista, cause its the same UI i believe. tell me if you still dont understand ;)
About 2 months ago I got a new monitor that can do 1920x1200. Back then I was still using vista x64, and going to this high resolution made COD MW and WAW run just a tad too slow to be able to game comfortable at all times in multiplayer. Going to windows 7 raised the average FSP of my 8800GTS by 10 to 12 frames/sec (which is a lot). I was going to upgrade my videocard, but I'll put it off a bit longer now, perhaps till Fermi arrives. This was exactly the amount I needed to play it properly.
Hey dude one way to get rid of the ManyCam watermark at the bottom is try going to my computer. then look for the screen cams files. then just look for png, jpg, or gif files preview them and try and see if u can find the one with the watermark. if u find it just delete it and it should be gone
VH, I'm glad you like the new Windows OS but I have to say that the apple operating system has had every one of the features you described here, since the start of MacOS 10. - which is about 8 years. Looks like its another microsoft ripoff of apple ingenuity. You should take a look at a mac system and note the similarities.
oh you mean like them both stealing all their ideas from xerox? also i mentioned gaming. also windows 7 is just an operating system for computers built from open standards. we could always have a conversation about open standards.
Those are nifty features, but what I really want is backward compatibility. I'd like to run XP games such as Deus Ex and Operation Flashpoint, and 95/98 games such as Thief and Alpha Centauri.
For some chenging desktop pics are great, for me they are completely useless things that interferes your consentrations and no doubt disturbs many apps, games and progs you are running.
Ive been using vista for about a year and i haven't had any problems with it so far, I might start using win7 just because everyone is saying its so much better than vista :) ..
My Netbook has Windows 7 it's pretty cool, finally caught up with all the stuff that Mac has been doing for years. Stickies, Spell check, the ability to keep programs in the Task Bar (IE The Mac's doc). Cycling desktops also a Mac feature
Still doesn't have screens though and it really should. The best Windows OS in a long time, probably ever but still nothing on Leopard.
I'm willing to bet your frame rate in GTAIV would have been even higher in XP. Unless you have more then 4gigs of ram; XP64 sucks. I'm sure I'll upgrade to Win7 when I build a new computer; but my humble rig is better off with XP.
What's the point? Ubuntu is free. Extremely customizable. It's open source. Can be configured right down to the kernel to function with your specific hardware. Did I mention it's free? It's far more secure then Windows or Macs. Better stability. Centralized software program installation. Ubuntu community support is incredible. Linux kernel takes up smaller footprint then Windows. Ubuntu boots up faster. Improved memory management. Oh, and one more thing, it's free!
I asked that very same question to a sales rep at BestBuy and they looked at me funny. He said prices ranged from $115 to $350 Canadian. That's a lot to pay for just game support. I got my copy of XP for free from an ex-girlfriend, other wise I'd probably still be playing only games on FreeDOS. That and my plethora of game consoles dating back to the Atari 2600.

it's a Trial BUT you can downgrade to the free version thru the uninstall menu
it's Free, unlimited use, and NO watermark or anything
you basically can't use audio While you record though....

Is 32 bit or 64 bit you use ?
KANESHIRO065321 2 years ago
I assebled a new machine, for my oldest daughter. And by a mistake I ordered the 32bit version of Win 7.
But after having tried it a bit, I realized, that she wont be needing the 64 bit version just yet.
As you mention it's real smooth.
I run 1080p vids from U-tube without any lag, or glitches at all. (I got a good line though. 12Mb.)
And that's with the onboard gfx card, the radeon 4200. It got 40 shaders, is it ?. Same as the 2400 series cards, and the 3450 cards.

Vista isn't so bad .. an many ideas in 7 are in vista.
7 is a refinement of vista, with better performance.
So if you love 7, you like vista.

VirtualHolocaust 2 years ago

COMPLETELY WRONG!
I HATED Vi$ta, it was slower than crap running down your windows after I throw it on there.
The layout of it was DREADFUL!
It just plain sucked.......
Sorry.
Love windows 7 though!
xmodalloy 2 years ago
@xmodalloy 7 is a refinement of vista. loving one and hating the other is a paradox.
like saying you hate office 2003, but love 2007.
Speaking of layout is, Windows layout is almost the same since windows 95.
From xp to vista they did a major rework of some components, but 7 and vista have exactly the same layout.
The big difference between the two is performance.
