Spoilers!!: The person in the basement was indeed Robin, he looked like that because (my take on it) around the 1960s Thalidomide was on the market, for those who don't know it was a medicine to relieve morning sickness and resulted in horrible disfigurements of the children, Blackwood likely believed his son was cursed and not the medicine being the cause. Blackwood or Milton is still alive and feeding robin those bits of meet you saw under the window.
So we just released an ancient evil god in the form of a disfigured old man free from his prison..... I see John Bell took the ADVANCED courses at 'Stupid Horror Protagonist U' and left the goddamn door open! -_-
Blackwood trapped his own son in the celler because he was (or Blackwood thought he was) evil hell spawn? What. The. Fuck. His father was probably feeding him before he died, and probably after. =/ Then Robin must have found other means of finding... sustenance. -_-
i was almost disappointed that it ended. It didn't have enough jump out scares. I think if they had put more into the game, it would have been better. but, it was still a great game none the less.
I've watched this whole LP and enjoyed it immensely, seeing that I own this game and played it only to get stuck and freak out at the noises in the gallery at the very beginning. Glad to have seen you get through it with just as much frustration as i had and get through it with no worries!
The question that had been bugging me all the time watching this whole LP is, how was Michael able to survive three days in that house without eating or drinking a single thing?! I mean srsly wtf?! lol <3
@NickjeG ok do it's basic a demon god who try to destroy the world but these tribes people stood up to it using an amulet they trap it in a mask to seal it for ever to keep the seal strong they did rituals but when he stole the mask the seal grew weaker then freeing it sadly the cat god seeking a new forum toke Robins body and soul as its own killing JB's wife JB and his friend the doctor try to find a way to seal it again sadly he died be for he could do any thing his friend----
@NickjeG --- fled leaving the cat god/Robin lock away Michael A. stumbles upon what was going on and trys stop the god god but gets scared and runs away the cat god after years of "scratching" gets free and well you can guess what happens to the near by Town (side note JB did NOT die of a heart attack he died from Robin that's his bones you see at the end not sure if the doctor died for sure if he indeed ran off or not) hope that helps this is off of a site just an FYI
i thought Robin was a fricken ghost till i watched ur last playthrough. It all made sense. Wow, beautiful game, now i can sleep in peace. My house is haunted. Xp
It's incredibly sad how, even though the curse has been removed from the house, the guy in the basement (Robin?) is beyond repair...and on the run as well. Shit has definitively hit the fan.
Great LP. How was the guy in the basement surviving? What was he eating exactly? And what was the case with Jerry? : / Well, usually the good ones leave some questions open..
@omvalta I'm assuming he was eating humans that happened to come by... I'd assume that the flesh of Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell if he was able to capture it, would be able to last him a while.
I'm glad you finished it, I certainly never had the guts to do it. From what I read, the guy in the basement is Robin, their son, which they pretended to be dead. They locked him away because he was cursed by the mask James stole the day he was born, that's why he's violent. The person that it still feeding Robin is Christopher, the old family doctor. That's all I really remember from the walk-through. Sorry if I stated anything you already knew. XD
It was golem! The strange thing is that there is no difference between the Director's Cut and the original version. Unless the expansion is in the game as well, in which case thats the difference. i hope you do indeed do the expansion then. I really enjoyed watching you LP this game, I never got to appreciate it when I was playing cause I was too busy being terrified. O_O Though the dispelling of the mask is pretty anti-climatic. XD
Hope to see you doing more indie horror game let's plays. There are so many out there, and it's interesting to watch you solve puzzles and deal with the scares. Kudos, and look forward to more!

The guy in the basement is Robin. The teddy bear was a big indicator to me. Maybe he was why James thought the curse was real. Robin has to be the one that killed Catherine because of the bites on the teddy bear show he was violent.
@Taybrian1 yes but he was ...what... 2 or 3 when Catherine died? how could he killed his mother at that age?......this is what i did not understood about the story......
1) the curse - real or not........after using the charm nothing happened so that is an indicator that the curse was a superstition...but when you made the charm, what is up with that evil laugh...i mean, was Robin laughing from the basement...and the strange dreams you have that tend to come real.....and the whispers
@Taybrian1 the whispers...if milton and james locked robin in the basement (at a very fragile age) then he would have known where they came from (he wrote in his journal that he dose not know from where the whispers are coming from)
2)Robin in the basement?...that is a very strange concept (im not saying that is right or wrong) we know that james is dead when we see him in his coffin...we can say that milton continued to feed Robin .....and one day he caught him and kill him and eat him after
@Taybrian1 buuuuuuuuuut....milton disappears in 1970...and you came in 1976....who feed him this six years....milton wasn't that fat was he?.....we can say that milton run away...and lived with the money from james account (as its hinted in a conversation with a bank agent that james account still exist and it has some banking activity)...but then again who feed that guy in the basement...yes the teddy bear is a very strong hint that the guy in the basement is Robin ....but i am still not sure.
what happens is that robin the guy in the basement became violent at a fragile age and james blackwood locked him up
milton is the guy in the coffin and i know it becose i read it in one of the letters so that clears that milton is indeed death
