@MiotaLee A remake was also on the SNES I beleive but I have never played it, apparently besides the graphics being slightly more updated people have said the music changed aswell.
This to me was the best NES music. Listening to it actually gives me goosebumps. Being a kid and playing this game all day long until my eyes were strained. Never giving up, but yet never beat it until the age of 25. Life was sure simply amazing!
You must be crazy to have the idea of putting an envelope and a jar of water inside a microwave in order to stick the stamps on the envelope......only one of the best games of all time can be beaten by that way :D
There's a freeware version of the game made with.... Adventure Game Studio, I believe it's called. The game uses an interface similar to that of it's sequel, Day of the Tentacle and the background music thereof as well. The interface is less convoluted, the visuals are around what one would expect from an early-ish nineties Lucasarts game. The only downside is that there's no personal themes as it's not natively an NES game and the original lacked those. Google Maniac Mansion Deluxe.
christ, i have beat this game 10000 times and it never gets old...i remember when this shit came out, i was obsessed, when i found out you could blow up weird ed's hamster in the microwave i was insane with glee
Actually, the NES conversion was developed by Realtime Associates under supervision of LucasFilm Games (a.k.a. LucasArts).
Here's an observation:
Another game developed by Realtime Associates, "The Rocketeer" published by Bandai, has instruments that sound very much alike, suggesting the same sound programmer for both games in addition to the same developing company.
@Stazmo2 There are 2 different versions of this game on pc (I'm not talking about deluxe version), v1 has simple intro theme ( search [Intro][Retro PC] Maniac Mansion ) , v2 - similar to NES (take a look Maniac Mansion Intro (PC/midi) ), and better then this
@rikkeeked I meant the old Lucasarts version that came with like 5 floppies and a write protection booklet. Damn that was like 1990? Then i got it for the NES by trading some kid Bad Dudes and RC Pro Am for it.
@Stazmo2 Hm, and I was about 1 year old=), but I remember how many hours i spent with comix zone and wrestlemania, and my first pc game was some space shooter, that my dad wrote about 1992!
Best pure NES rock.

@Stazmo2 lol, it's so true. The PC version has so much better gameplay and graphics, but the NES music is 8-bit gold.
