What if the sensor is mounted on a vibrating surface...? i would like to build a system such as the one u did to control a centrifugation process that vibrates a lot... I know it would cause some error in the measure, but the system would still work?
So, if I understand physics right. Thats not accurate always because speed of sound changes based on pressure and temperature. Am I right? Have you measured that distance to make sure its actually doing it right? DOes this robot also measure pressure and temperature?
You are correct pressure and temperature probably affect it... No this bot does not measure pressure and temperature although the sensors to do so can easily be added. For the most part this sensor from Parallax is quite accurate at close distances. This is the same type of sensor my Autonomous robot Diode use's to see while moving around.
I was going to use infrared light for this but decided to go ahead and use my ping sensor because i only had small range IR range sensors lol i need the big ones.

hi man, do you by any chance have the diagram of the circuit before the pic?, i guess you used a pic for the math xD

I mean, I am not sure how much temperature and pressure affect it. Thats probably why they use light for radar guns. LOL always accurate.
