Just because it has a saidi rhythm in the background doesn't mean it's meant for raks al assaya. Love this song, love the costume, and very cute presence... but misplaced.
my apologies, if I have duplicate replies to your comment, youtube has some bug today and it doesn't show up at all. But in case it does later,.... my apologies for the repetition!! anyway, thx for viewing and commenting... happy shimmies!
I understand your view regarding this modern arabic pop song and modern Egyptian Assaya movements, of course it is a modern interpretation, and it is very well placed, seeing as this song is so popular in Egypt. While I was at the Ahlan Wa Salan fest in 2009, Dina and Raqia were a couple of teachers who used modern Arabic Pop and some Modern Egyptian combinations, it is the style today. This is not folkloric style, but Cabaret/Oriental.
also if a Saidi rhythm is in a song of course it lends itself to Raks Assaya, Saiidi is Raks Assaya from Upper Egypt, when a Oriental Routine is playing and it changes to Saiidi, than it is time to do Saiidi movements with or without Cane.
ah thanks so I got two nice comments :-) so sweet of you.. these videos especially this one I am just mucking around and having fun working out a choreo... :-) xx
Very nice moves. Maybe it is the big experience you have dancing or just how much you love it, but it shows on how you enjoy it. It seems like you're doing you're favourite thing, happy and calm, very natural. And i loved you kept the smile on the whole dancing :D
By far one of the best dancers I've seen on YouTube. I love your style, you seem very comfortable and and natural in your moves. I just started teaching a class, I'm going to have them look at your videos! :) Do you have any footage of yourself dancing with an audience?? I'd love to see it!
thank you sweetie! :-) yes i am performing to an audience in my of my videos. Take a look at my profile channel and my improvised tabla solo to an audience on stage is on the front xx ishtar
guess you don't realise that your dance has been mixed with other dance forms that came from the west, by famous dancers such as Badia Masabni, Naima Akef, Samia Gamal etc, they learnt ballet etc, and it got incorporated with baladi making raks el sharki (and commercial in the clubs).. before that Romani gypsies influenced.. it is an ever evolving dance form and always will be to a great extent is that so bad? relax it is a free world and 3arabtv linked this video, so some like it, just not you.
yeah u r right ! I try to get people to think a bit deeper than what they know, that is why I bother to reply... trying to educate people, more to live love and let live rather than hate, discriminate and critize with nastiness.... here's hoping that people learn to really love & appreicate themselves so that no one else bothers them, cause they are happy with themselves... :-) thanks for commenting :-)
maybe if ur country try to commercialize the arts through women so they can feed them selves in decent ways instead of begging in the street of shobra. And if it was not for the carelessnes of ur government and the fear that those religious parties instill in the heart of dancers u would not find foreign dancers almost dominating this beautiful art.
In my opinion your comment, Rumbato, is just as ignorant as Missrefaats. The dances of the middle east do not belong to just one country, so to criticize her "government" presumably you mean Iraq or whatever is dumb, MANY Middle eastern nations DO allow dancers to dance. Look at Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, etc etc... Search youtube for the "LBC Dancer" videos. You will find a whole host of Arab girls dancing commercial versions of Raqs Beladi, in $1000 costumes, not "begging on the streets".
Also, it is false to say that "foreign" dancers dominate the market... Do a little research. Foreign girls only dominate the market HERE on this side of the world because DUH they live here. But some of the best dancers of this decade are STILL Arab girls. Sorry. Its true. Some of the more recognized women in belly dance are Arabs, who are dancing their version of a social dance. You are an ignorant idiot, rumbato. Bottom line is people can dance however they want. No matter where they live.
this is my home dance studio where I teach my classes PLUS where I do my own drill work & choreography work, preparation for shows etc. I do make an effort to ensure the environment is always pretty. thanks 4 ur interest !
thanks, hold the cane by pinching it between thumb and forefinger without making a fist. twist your wrist as you drop the cane from holding upright and than swing it back up... as u get better u get faster.. try buying a dvd to learn or take a bellydance class
Do you get stuck halfway? Because that's what happened to me. Then I realized I had to twist my wrist in when the cane got halfway to the bottom. Once you get that, it's pretty easy.
IshtarBellydancer... your dancing seems to flow fomr you and its nice to see a belly dancer actually enjoy themselves when they dance. I especially enjoy the way you are incorporating that cane.
I have one question what is the name of this song you are bellydancing too, I would really like to find a copy of it somewhere? Is it by chance Alabina's music? Thnx.
Salam Alekum! many thanks for your kind words!! the song is Allahalek Ya Sidi from album sensations orientales by Ishtar (singer/band). i have now made this into a beginner choreography of 2.3min u can see it on the cane &drum solo vid here...i hope to get some students to perform it on vid oneday...bye 4 now :-)
ah thank you very much, this is improvised but I have now made a 2.3min cane routine for my students with some of the moves from here. maybe i get a chance to post them dancing...
hello again... i tried to find this music to download but i can't... if you can send me this music i will be very apreciate and thankful for your help!!! Thank you!!!
i am sorry i don't copy music to send, you need to support the muscians/song writers so they get paid for their creations... it is only fair. good luck it is quite a common cd..
hi! the original song is allah aleek ya seede it is by ehab tawfik i believe for free you should find it on mazikanaDOTcom although ishtar is right with her concern regarding the authors.. the cover version she uses i dont know where to find
no problem, you re welcome love this song and also areef habibi by the same singer :) P.s. i was told arab songs have no copyright!! so it s not a crime what mazikana is doing :) still, musicians dont participate in spreading the music that s not fair..
thanks, the song is Allahalek Ya Sidi from album sensations orientales by Ishtar (singer/band). I will be selling these dance choreographies cheaply in the near future as a download from my website...watch out if u r interested... :-)
hi Zara, thanks for your very nice comments :-) that is my main focus... enjoying my dance and having fun! It is my kinda meditation, all worries and cares just melt away when u become one with the music!
Ahahaha ha, are you for real? Just because your arab doesnt mean s..t. I've seen some horrendous arab dancers, just as i have seen some beautiful very skilled ones. Its pretty obvious to me your jealous of Ishtar. It would be better for you to admire her. Jealousy is so ugly. I doubt very much you can dance. Post a video of your dancing so i can have a big laugh!
i know this for a fact as i made friends with egyptians who appreciate ishtar and aren't necessarily able to dance like that themselves. then again, of course that may be different for a sophisticated person like you...
shame on you two, sameerah and tikko21! you are sad representatives of your culture. i have lived in egypt and met many nice arab people, but you two have no manners and are rude for no reason. what are you gaining from making such derogatory comments? Suffice it to say that you obviously know nothing about bellydance as if you did you would know that not every arab can dance this complex form of dance -- maybe amature style.
Lastly it is my perogative to block who i don't need around me with their negative and nasty behaviour ... goodbye. I am happy to share with others who have manners.
???? what has this got to do with anything??? How about you and your friend upload some videos of yourselves dancing so we can all take a look at how good you are...
I have many Arab & Egyptian friends who are from Egypt and appreciate my dancing. I don't need angry, nasty people like you and your friend to pull your culture down by talking like this... so sad and shameful when you claim to read the bible and Quran - practise it instead.
LOL... you are a bit of a hard case!! Actually do you know much about dance? obviously not, you can dance at half the time... ask any musician to explain if you don't get it... but thanks for the laugh!!!
Hello fellow bellydancer! thanks for your comments. The costume is from Egypt - all hand made. Unfortunately, I was naughty and didn't change when doing these videos, as it is not the right costume for cane. I do have long balady dresses which are right for this dance but didn't change when doing these vids. Happy shimmies & sparkley sequins to you!!!
