shouldn't you use the heat deflector shield for indirect cooking? i just bought an egg and want to do a bird that size but i plan on cooking it using indirect head so does this increase cooking time?
I believe you might have cooked it at too high of temperature, try getting the Egg to the proper temp first then add the bird and monitor the temps. Another trick is to leave the lid closed the whole time, a common mistake for big green egg owners.
Ya i agree cooked it too hot... low and slow is the way ..keep temp about 250 or so max...

Set temp, leave closed = perfect bird. Good luck.
