I'm about to rip my skin off I'm dying to see Thrice live again... If they do this at the next concert I go to I might cry. Long live Thrice. times 5,000,000,0000,,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,
I wish they didn't stray away from the core side completely, because their 2nd, 3rd and 4th records where the best by far and still rival the quality of any of the larger "hard" rock bands today.
I remember seeing these guys play a show on Halloween of 1999 at a church in Irvine (security wouldn't let you mosh)... still one of the best shows I've ever seen besides the show at Chained Reaction when they retired T&C.
The teenage angst on Identity and Illusion are pretty much palpable, whereas the growth and maturity of thrice just show more and more through their new albums. I believe retiring the older songs is a way of completely separating themselves from that old angst. Deadbolt seems to be the only exception these days...
@TheBANDEMIC who's trolling anything.. i simply made an observation that only old song they play now is Deadbolt.. but its slow as shit and lacks any feeling in it...i dont even see why they play it anymore seeing that i doesnt fit into their new criteria of music.
@oneaware Torch's hopeful lyrics are proceeded by some pretty damn angsty ones... It's true that both albums do have quite a few hopeful moments, but all too often they're surrounded and laced with the bitter taste of reality. If you can't palpate the angst, there's something wrong with you, and "beyond hopeful" is a bit of an exxageration...T&C for example, "Let Our Passion's Bleed" is preceeded by a guy unable to express himself or his passions, but he's willing to do it just to feel alive...
@Alio15 Well we all see what we want to anyways. As an adult, life is still full of angst, struggles, and problems, and hope is all that keeps me sane. So, alas, always persist to try. If you disagree, good, it matters not to me.
cries i saw this and wanted to die till i saw how young they are.. and i was like oh ok cause well they ~RAWR~ they retired this sooong ...... ... anyone know why they wont play phoenix ignition anymore? like a real reason...
T&C was a surfing video game for NES. Supposedly the theme song of the game is the same as the riff to the song. I think Dustin just got frustrated with playing the game and wrote the song.
Definitely, I've been a fan since 2002, but I was still in Elementary School when they played this show, but it's been a long ways since then and they always have sold out crowds, considering they're not a big band but their fans are very dedicated.

How neat. One of their first epic performances was at the HoB, and their 17-track one is also at HoB. Goin back to where it all began.

@Alio15 I didn't palpate any teenage angst from the first 2. I got inspiration, encouragement, and edification... oh wait, I still do.
Come on... the words on "Phoenix Ignition", "Ultra Blue", "Torch To End All.." just to name a few, are beyond hopeful. "Let our passions bleed".
