  • The last pages are for you sam :'( </3 <3

  • I love this part SOOOOOO much... I cried really hard when I watched it.

  • One score to rule them all.

  • honestly if they did one of those hd 3d imax whatever and showed in theatres again id go

  • No other movie series has ever made me cry more than Lotr. And I mean, all three of them. When I was younger I only cared about the action scenes and the way theme going on, but now that I'm older I feel like I appreciate these movies the way it was intended. I care a lot about Frodo, Sam and the rest of the fellowship. I cried like a little bitch at the grey havens scene, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

  • @CENTRINOaki My brother always said nothing can move him to tears. Yet at the end we cried on each others shoulder when the boat started to slowly move away towards the sea. We were so sad but happy when the whole trilogy ended because of Frodo and others. There wasn't a single person in the cinema that did not cry or, at least, sob a bit. I've seen girls trying to calm down their dates.

Even after all these years it still makes me tear up.

  • I just can't stop listening to this song. It makes me feel like all the small problems i have don't matter. like all the evil in this world doesn't exist. it makes me feel safe, relaxed, and i can be on mars while i'm listening to it, it will always remind me of home.

  • @96elessar me too

  • The site you have the saddest cry ever since

  • lore-wise it's always heartening to think that the Grey Havens were not the place where Sam last saw Frodo, for they both shared the fate of being a ring-bearer :)

  • Can't... tear... self... away....

  • SO, if I should never see you again, know that I love you....I longed for you always...And, I sought your smile...Remember....You are....You are the song that I would sing

  • This Song Reminds Us All that there Will Always Be Goodbyes

  • "We set out to save The Shire, Sam.

And it has been saved, but not for me..."

  • till this very day i can't watch this part without crying, i can really understand how sam, merry and pepin must've felt when frodo told them his task wasn't finished

  • So I watched this movie last night, for no reason really, other then that I LOVE THE LORD OF THE RINGS WITH MY WHOLE HEART, and I cried like a baby at this part. It was just so perfect and sad and beautiful... I hated that it had to end, but what a way to end it :)

  • I remember when i got to this part of the book i cried, and when i came to the end of the movie even though i knew what was going to happen i cried again.

  • The LOTR soundtrack is and always will be Shore's masterpiece. Unfathomably beautiful.

  • 2:20-3:20, one of the most powerful parts in the entire trilogy.

  • 5.16 this bit is probably some of the most beautiful music i have ever heard. ever. <3

  • i remember being in the movie theater at the end of this movie and i was about to cry and i looked around at everyone else and they all had tears streaming down their face.

  • i really need to find more howard shore music

  • - Farewell, my brave hobbits. My work is now finished. Here at last, on the shores of the sea, comes the end of our Fellowship... I will not say 'Do not weep'. For not all tears are an evil...

    :'(

    <3

  • Goddamnit, this was the shittiest part of the whole trilogy

    because it ended.

  • 5:16 is when I lose it.......

  • Funny thing...I remember McKellen saying on Conan this scene was the first one he shot when he went to NZ. Dressed as Gandalf, went on set, and had to say goodbye to the hobbits. Before shooting pretty much the rest of the film.

  • They did good having Gandalf indirectly tell the audience that it was okay to cry. During this scene, when I could feel the lump growing in my throat, I sat there telling myself, "No, don't cry, it's just a movie, it's just a movie."

    But it wasn't.

  • Oh Sam :)

    ....T_T

  • I am buying all 3 albums. Probably the best investment I could make, besides tithing.

  • Why are you guys all angry about critics and reviews in regard to this movie? All three of the LOTR movies got 5 starts and Return won 11 academy awards...nobody is being harsh on the greatest series known to man.

  • We set out to save the Shire, Sam. And it has been saved.

  • @LethalShiteee but not for me

  • howard shore will go to hell, because God can't compete with him

  • "You can't leave..."

Sam literally made me bawl my eyes out when he said that.

  • @kman618 funny, when he said i was cheering cause hobbits to me, are little midgets running around with hairy feet

  • Just Epic! :)

  • 2:21 onwards is breathtaking

  • HOWARDS SHORE MOZART OF OUR TIME

  • "I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil."

And when I hear Gandalf's permission to weep... Weep I do.

  • and yet the road travels on, and i must follow it if i can....-Bilbo Baggins

  • When Frodo left to the Grey-Havens and Sam started criying and the other hobbits did too, I cried too. I felt like I was there, after everything they went through, especially Frodo and Sam, I felt very sad. Frodo was leaving, and I cried a bit too, my life would feel so empty if my best friend that I went to the edge of the earth with, had to leave.

  • This is the most heart felt music that I've ever heard. makes me want to cry every time i hear this song, or see the scene.

  • what makes a story epic is that it can make you laugh , cry , be happy , angry , worried and fearful all in the one story.... that is what lord of the rings has done. R.I.P tolken..... if only you knew your story would be as great as it was in your time :)

  • @TheRougeTech Dont worry, i'm sure he is watching it on white shores, and a far green country, under a swift sunrise.

  • @jestajared one day may we all do the same :)

  • Without Tolkien, without his beautiful realm, his heart-melting stories and unforgettable characters, a lot of what we now know would cease to exist. Without the Lord of the Rings, there would be no Skyrim, no World of Warcraft...there would be no legends to be whispered of beneath the stones of the world, no tales of glory and adventure to be told to loved ones at an open fire. Every new fantasy story that is written, or movie made, reflects the beauty of Tolkien's work. We thank thee..greatly.

  • 4:08

  • 2:19 goosebumps

  • I just finished reading the book. Both the book and the film are fantastic. Long live Tolkien, Long live Peter Jackson......

Long Live "The Lord of the Rings and Middle-earth!"

  • you know what? I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

  • @SkyrimScrolls Not with an arrow in your knee

  • @Trollingization If these names are set up... I hope you burn...

  • 5:18

    That's my favorite part.

  • I start instantly crying when I only hear this music...i can't even watch the damn ending without tears :D

  • Listening to this and reflecting on the decade since FOTR's release, and The Hobbit's trailer, released only several hours ago. It's been the greatest adventure. We've been there and now we get to go back again.

  • there is NOTHING wrong or bad about LOTR, it's just as spot on as one can get.

  • This IS the most beautiful peice of music ever made. I will never forget beeing 9 in the theater 2003 watching the ending of this magical peice of film. Incredible.

  • I don't know what would have been my life without Peter Jackson, Howard Shore and TLOTR... Totally sucking life i guess...

  • I cry whenever I hear those first few seconds of this song. So much of my life has been attached to this movie and the books that they were based on. I truly do LOVE LOTR!

  • from 2:19 to 3:12 is beyond words!!!

  • thumbs up if you cried at the end of this movie!!! :,)

  • @raywilliamfan2 mate, i cried when gandalf fell... i cried when boromir died... and yes, i cried when this movie ended.. ;)

  • 2:19 ;( beautiful....

  • @Dolian112

Gandalf: "Farewell.... Here at last on the shores of the sea, comes the end of our fellowship...."

MY TEARS! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE! ;~; I didn't want the movie to end....

  • @justin2793 The only LOTR fix I can hope for now is the Hobbit

  • para mi es la mejor que salio en toda la pelicula de todos los soundtracks :c

  • I guess that's the soundtrack when you go to heaven!

  • 3:55

  • 4:40 to 6:00 this is for you, Dad, Tiago, Carla, Rui, my heart miss you all so much

  • When the movies of LOTR came out, my personal life, unfortunatly, changed so much. I lost many things and people between 2001 and 2003 and still today, I feel so changed and empty. LOTR saved me for a bit in all of those events during that time, when I hear this I feel a mix of sadness and joy, because I really love LOTR. Sorry for bad english

  • Dammit it is time for a Lotr marathon, I just wish I had someone to watch it with :(

  • @DreamingRequiems Encore has been doing one for the past weeks.

  • @Kwenspi To bad I don't have cable...I only have netflix streamed on Xbox live and all of the movies are only available on dvd.

  • 4:40 onwards... just stunning, watched this film so many times and it still gives me goosebumps...

  • 2:20 : this song will be played at my funeral, definitely!

  • "It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."

  • Why can't everything in life be as. . . incredible, masterful, majestic, touching, joyful, saddening, and epic as Lord of the Rings?

  • "We set out to save the shire, Sam. And it has been saved - but not for me."

  • after listen this, im gonna have to watch all the movies again ! >_<

  • Brin back to cinemas LOTR, the best trilogy ever made!! This is more than trilogy, this is masterpiece of human kind

  • The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is one of the best set of films ever made, and that's sad because something like this will never happen again. There will never be another series like this, one that conjures up so much emotion, so much amazement, and so much meaning in the same way. So all we have are our memories, our feelings, and three truly amazing films.

  • 2:20, that is all that needs to be said.

  • Frodo: We set out to save the Shire. Now it has been saved.

    *hands book to Sam*

The last pages are for you ,Sam.

  • 2:20 and beyond......blissfulness

  • My father took me to see this movie when i was about 7 years old. He was a man who didnt cry at anything or i had never seen him cry at anything anyway. But i went and saw these films but i didnt understand that well, but when gandalf said to frodo " it is time frodo," i had tears running down my cheeks. I hid them because i didnt want to show my dad that i was crying, but when i looked at him he had tears running down his cheeks too. This film always reminds me of him. Havnt seen him in so long

  • really guys.. who disliked this epic song?

  • 0:1 - 0:18 the best part of the soundtrack

  • I just saw this scene again after hearing this song and I cried and sobbed during the entire scene. No movie has ever done that and even though it was sad I think having an experience like that is so moving and beautiful and it means the story in itself is just a beautiful work of art and a golden masterpiece for all those who see it.

  • Me and my best friend are die hard LOTR fans and every single time we see the whole trilogy (which we have already at least six times) we usually talk through it, poke jokes at some parts of the movie and stuff, but EVERY time the Grey Havens scene comes we fall absolutely SILENT. It's the best and most emotional scene in movie history, ever, period.

"My dear Sam you cannot always be torn in two, you will have to be one and whole for many years... your part in the story will go on"

  • Nice whistle intro to a beautiful piece.

  • I am longing for an embrace....a hint of grandeur....The clouds mask a grey sky...My God, I am yearning for Horns, Trumpets, and Strings!!!!!!! Sound Forth, Now, and Claim Your Stake!!

  • Frodo: "Why are we doing this Sam?"

Sam: "Because, Mr. Frodo, there's some good left in the world, and its worth fighting for!"

Remember that guys. We can still do it.

  • "MiddleEarth Has been saved but not for me"

  • "...The last pages are for you, Sam..."

  • I would have to define Tolkein as a god, for he created this world of Middle Earth and I'd rather live in it than this rotten one just saying.

  • @rafikiisking Me too, it just seems that friendship and nobility is so much more important in that world and that there is actually something worth fighting for. This movie and stories have taught me so much about life and have given me so much good moral lessons, they have just made me a better human being overall.

  • "Well, here at last, dear friends, on the shores of the sea comes the end of our fellowship on Middle-earth. Go in peace! Do not weep, for not all tears are in evil."

Then Frodo kissed Merry and Pippin, and last of all Sam.

"My time has come to an end Sam...But your time has just begun"

  • @sailingfreak3 have you heard christopher Tolkien Narrating this scene it is incredible!!!!! :)

  • "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."

"So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

  • lord of the rings,,, wat can i say the best mives ever made i thank god to j.r.r tolkien for imagining this and to peter who made it alive.... bad people can watch this and their lives could chnage to the right way.... i hope this story lives on forever it deserves to

  • @aries2894 I know I'm probably gonna sound really stupid here, but what exactly IS the message of the Lord of the Rings? I've read all three books, seen all three movies, but sometimes I don't think that the characters really gained anything from the experience. So what do you think the message was?

  • @ledhead504 The message was that people still can enjoy movies X]

  • @ledhead504 To quote a few very wise wizards, hobbits, and elves...

"There's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for."

"Who thought I'd die fighting side by side with an elf?" "How about side by side with a friend?"

"This is not the end. Death is but another path; one that we all must take."

It's a somber message, but it rings true; Terrible things happen, but in the end, the light shines out the clearer, a new day will come, even darkness must pass.

  • @ledhead504

The Difference between LotR and pretty much any other Fantasy Story is that Tolkien did not create a World to be able to tell the Story - he created a World for the Sake of creating a World, very simple. The Stories inside that World were made to give Depth and Insight to his Creation. Thats why I don't think that his first Goal was to bring a Message to us. BUT there are a lot of important Messages in LotR still, for Example: Even the Smallest can make a Difference.

  • @AdrianvonZiegler

    You're so right.

    Tolkien was such a genius.

He also created the whole world and the stories to have a background and to have explanations for the languages he invented.

  • @AdrianvonZiegler and everything happens for a reason...we just need to know what to do with it when the time comes...as gandalf says in the 1st movie

  • @AdrianvonZiegler and tolkein even mentioned that this story was just a small fraction of what he created overall... so he may have other lessons in other stories or just in his world that he created

  • @AdrianvonZiegler I think you made an important point that "literary analysts" worldwide ALWAYS overlook. An author does not always write a story just to make a political, social, or philosophical point. Sometimes, a story is written for just that purpose: to tell a riveting tale, to entertain.

  • @guilemaster147 I so agree!!!! I think people have lost that... People seems to think that the only reason movies, books, and music are made is so they can be torn apart by critics and those who can't find the beauty and creativity in anything.... I miss the days where people's opinions didn't matter. Why can't we go back to just being entertained?

  • Every time I listen this song I want to read again the books and then watch the movies. This makes me shiver!

  • didn't care too much for ROTK I didn't like the changes from the book and the pacing of the movie was all wrong, I didn't like the guy who played Denethor and I didn't like the way they portrayed his character, still the trilogy as a whole was awesome, and this music is amazing

  • I have shivers all over.

  • At least I am not the only one who cries at this ending!

Without fail I just break down when Gandalf says his piece abou 'the end of our fellowship'.

Shit I'm welling up just thinking about it !!

  • This made my life...

  • because of Books like Lord of the Rings, I'm writing my own novel series. I hope in my heart it will be as epic and heartfelt as JRR Tolkien's epic Masterpiece. Thank you, Tolkien and Peter Jackson.

  • before LotR i was a star wars fan all the way "(don't imagine me as a nerd, or somewhat, not that is something wrong with them, but i'm just a plain guy, average student)" but, after i've seen lotr...come ooon...you can not not be in love with it...i loved it, still love and always will...i rewatch the trilogy every 2-3 months(maniac:D)...oh, and the music is (...INSERT GREATEST WORD HERE...)

  • @stefanel666 Lol you know I was the same, and I still adore SW and there was a time when I didn't know which films were the greatest for me, but as this made me cry and have such amazing feelings and connections with the characters in the films I thought: Well SW characters are amazing and unlike no other films too, but this is just beyond words or thoughts. And as great and genius as John Williams is, Howard Shore is a mastermind, the music is what really does it for me.

  • Frodo: "The Shire has been saved Sam...But not for me."

  • Remember seeing this in the cinema. I was only 8 and although I didn't understand everything I cried in the end. I cried like a baby because this awesome trilogy was a part of my childhood and that it had to come to an end.

  • I cry too, and my best friend, who is also an LOTR maniac laugh about me. But it's so sad, when the elves abandon Middleearth

  • I cry

  • I know all is good. But I still cry like a helpless maniac. I cry because of all the memories I had growing up with this movie, I cry because It means so so much to me.. and it's over.. I cry because Frodo and Sam are split up! I CRY because I'm not an Elf! AND I REGRET NOTHING!

  • @mrAZcardinal Look to the east my friend, for The Hobbit comes soon..

  • @mrAZcardinal Me too, man. Me too.

  • I cry harder each time I watch this ending.

  • i know i may of posted befor but..

Lord of the Rings > Harry potter

  • @w0wnut3r Very true.

  • @w0wnut3r lord of the rings kicks harry potters ass any day

  • @w0wnut3r how could Lord not be better than Harry Potter. Lord is the lives work of an university teacher who devoted his live to language and writting. and Harry Potter are just a novel written by a highschool teacher dont get me wrong i like harry potter and i think there great but comparing those series is as comparing a cat to a lion. :) Rip JRR Tolkien genius of a generation.

  • @w0wnut3r they don't even compare...

  • @w0wnut3r nooooooooooooooooooooo

  • now i sit and wait for the hobbit the new movies/movie me and my friends on another adventure

  • When i watch this sence,i get a,a,idk a chock in me that says, its not a happy ending for myself

  • "My time has come to an end Sam... But yours is just beginning."

  • Every time I hear this I'm left in awe and with tears in my eyes. Simply amazing.

  • how can they go back to there lives???

  • I saw this in the theaters when I was 8 and when gandalf said "It is time Frodo" I just knew what he meant and broke into tears

  • @radec918 HA I did the excact same thing!!!!! Still do NOW!!!!! :')

  • I feel sick evry time I listen to this...

  • when watching movies you are transported to another world but when i watch lord of the rings it is different because i am venturing on a quest and seeing things beyond my wildest imagination thank you lotr for creating that power to bring me to another realm and go on so many adventures and i can not wait to return to middle earth in dec 2012 im calling it oscars 2013 best picture will go to the hobbit

  • Which is the song JUST before the breaking of the credits. In the final scene where we see sam closing the door, and we hear it... Anyone know?

  • @DoctorCheeseFood I think it's the final track, track 19 - Into The West

  • This trilogy has a special place in my childhood! I will never forget my happiness when i saw first movie.... something divine, pure happiness!

  • i typed the last word of my 1800 word essay just as this song hit the last few notes...and i cried :( i couldn't help it. it was so beautiful T.T now i think i'm gonna read the whole trilogy over again :D

  • @hitbycupidsarrow. Nicely said

  • "Here at last, on the shores of the sea, comes the end of our Fellowship." Definitely the saddest line in a movie ever...in fact, it just makes brings the Trilogy to an amazing end. Peter Jackson is a legend, Howard Shore is a genius...but J.R.R Tolkien is a GOD.

  • @hitbycupidsarrow YES! Someone understands my religion <3

  • @hitbycupidsarrow I agree to everything you just said however i also think that a very sad line in the film is "We set out to save the Shire Sam and it has been, but not from me..... :'( Heart breaking

  • @hitbycupidsarrow

in fact, he is Illuvatar himself :D

  • @hitbycupidsarrow I think Peter Jackson PERFECTED the story. The changes he made were not a problem at all and in fact, it made the story even better. the LOTR films were the first movie I have ever considered to be better than the book it came from, the second was JAWS.

  • Comment removed

  • @Maxweckl exactley. I mean there were MANY pages of just Frodo and Sam going in circles in the Two Towers and Jackson did the smart thing and just summarize it with Sam saying "we're lost." Nope, i read the books and I think he truly perfected it, especially with the third film. the scourging of the shire pissed me off and was as anti-climatic as gollum just simply falling by accident. having Frodo attack gollum and taking out the scourging of the shire was BRILLIANT and IMPROVED the film.

  • Comment removed

  • @Maxweckl according to jackon and his writers, they ALL agree that the reason to take out the scourging was because it was anti-climatic and they say this as well for having Frodo attack Gollum and for making the battle of Helm's deep longer. He took out the annoying chapters of just Sam and Frodo going in circles, he improved many parts. I only was angry that Aragon didnt fight Sauron face to face in the black gate battle. I recommend reading Jaws as well and comparing it to the film.

  • Comment removed

  • @Maxweckl Oh i understand the story and everything. I LOVE LOTR and the music was amazing, but so was the acting, screenwriting, everything. Uh, reading chapters of them just walking in a circle is annoying. the whole point of the journey was to destroy the ring, they did it and then have to fight another battle, what the heck? I just cant help but prefer the film more than the book.

  • Comment removed

  • @Maxweckl it made no sense because the point of the story was to destroy the damn ring. they do it, and go home just to find more hell? That's stupid and very anti-climatic. And gollum just tripping and falling? That's boring, i like seeing Frodo and Gollum fight over the ring.

  • @croc560 well i dont know what to say, i dont think you appreciated the books as they were meant to be appreciated, just plowing through to get to some action. And if you think in those terms your missing the point entirely. how old were you when you read them? probably too young to understand the greatness in them, correct me if im wrong. and moreover there is so much depth in the books, it's not just about the ring quest. think about Silmarillion for instance.and the Hobbit. it's not hollywood

  • @Maxweckl action? I actually was annoyed with some of the action in the book. there were several battles on their way to the black gate and I am glad Jackson took those out. I appreciate the book just as much as anyone. How am I all for the action if i am glad they also took out the scourging of the shire? too young? I read years after the films and was eighteen when i read them all. I know there is more, but the scourging chapter just felt too anti-climatic.

  • @croc560 maybe it was anti climactic and maybe it wasn't, andmaybe it was dragging on a bit, honestly im not that concerned with the last chapters..but you must understand that perhaps Tolkien had a really hard time finishing he's lifes work, he didn't planned for the movies to be fit perfectly for an dumbed down mainstream audience you know?..m certainly not accusing you, but people in general are pretty stupid and need everything to bee so obvious. and easy to get.

  • @Maxweckl Tolkien is dead, so i doubt he even thought about his books being made into films. I like deep m
