He rocked in the early days and was the reason why many kids started playing drums.
In fact, he put Pearl brand drums on the map!
Unfortunately, he had a difficult time playing on the later reunion tours due to tendonitis. He still remains one of the best Rock and Roll drummers ever!
im so glad everyone who finally started listening to KISS THE ORIGANALS, hears the FUCKN COOLNESS of the CAT.. PETER CRISS. for all you nah sayers go fuckyourselves you band wagon hoppers.. long live PETER. GENE. PAUL. AND ACE...
I don't know why people talk about Pete in such a negative light these days.........Back in the day people always talked about what a bad-ass drummer he was......
@66MrDonnie I think the only reason people diss his playing is because of how he played from '96 onward. He was a great drummer in the '70s, sadly drugs destroyed alot of his talent (see KISS '79). But like in this video, back in the day he could kick the shit out of the skins!
@66MrDonnie i STILL TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH OF A BAD ASS DRUMMER HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN, AND MAYBE ITS BEACAUSE EVERYONE WHO THINKS OTHERWISE swallows almost anything thrown there way. Remember GENES comment about drummer abilities, well he doesnt say shit now ever wonder why, ill tell ya if you want to know otherwise keep rockn to KISS
@36hcupsizeandgrowing Thats how I feel too.. I have been a fan of KISS since I was 10 years old(I am now 45) and anyone who knows anything about the band will agree the original line-up was by far the best...Peter Criss' solo on 100,000 years off Alive is all the proof one has to throw into the faces of his critics.......
@66MrDonnie YES you go with that origanal REALfeeling, thats what ive always felt about KISS since my first kiss in the 70s , and even through the 80s family dispute, 90s rise and since the second coming. LONG LIVE KISS.. and the KISSfamily,
Holy shit. This is AWESOME. Peter gave them that distinct KISS sound. It seems like most of the other American drummers from the mid 70's and on were going for the Bonham sound - which I dig, of course, because Zeppelin is great. But the KISS sound was unique in that it sounded like The Beatles or early Stones on steriods.
after about 77, Peter turned to shit. but in 75/76, he was unstoppable, he played with so much energy and balls, and his chops are just incredible here.
Criss is one of my main influences as a drummer. Any negativity toward his playing is ridiculous. He was the drummer during KISS' greatest output and added something very exciting and groovy to the sound.
Peter's drumming in the 70's was beyond cool!

This is awesome, shows that Peter was very important for the Kiss sound. The whole package, bad ass vocal and drums.
