Hey all - this was one of the first "On Location" videos we ever did, where we were still getting our setup together. As you can see, it was from more than three years ago! The amp was hidden under a table behind a curtain, and we weren't equipped with separate vocal and amp mics at that time. Boy, have we come a long way! We apologize that the quality isn't to par with what you've come to expect from our current videos.
Shitty compressed unmic'd sound. Muffled to shit too. What the fuck? He could play a strat or an EMG loaded Jackson and It'd sound exactly the same with this audio quality.
can anyone tell me how the p94's are made. a p90 has equal thickness of wiring but if u look at the p94 it looks like u can only go so wide with the wiring b4 running out of room on the sides so the pick up wont be as thick as a p90 due to size constrictions to fit an HB housing. so how big is this single coil inside is it just a damed Fender single? which is nothing like the sound or construction of a p90. this doubt is why i am hesitant about putting them into a Dot
Si encore c'était une Gibson. Mais c'est qu'une Epiphone. Elles sont bien mais l'électronique de ces guitares n'est vraiment pas génial. De plus jouer deux seconde sur chaque micro, sa suffit pas. .
what a waste of time. How about mic'ing the friggin amp instead of his mouth? The amp sounds like its in the next room. How could anyone possibly compare?
I have a, AY. and a BBpro in my flying V and they are f@#king awesome but i agree they sound like shit on all off these videos not a very good guide if your looking to get one
But at least he does confirm the rumor that the 490R is the same pickup as the 57 Classic, which is hilarious considering all the people who replace 490's with 57's and claim they sound worlds better.
you cant tell the difference because A-its all just alot of shit and he is talkin out of his arse, B-he hasnt got the amp turned up enough to be able to hear any significant difference
Pickups are probably one of the main costs in an Epiphone guitar, say a set is $400, thats around %30-%50 of an Epiphone guitars costs. *Note in my country pickups can be 200-400 dollars.
Well yeah I bought mine for NZD$699 but the prices of guitars went up. That conversion rate is about right?
I was saing if a set of pickups was around 200-NZD$400 (depending of quality) that means it is the main cost of an Epiphone which are maybe 400-$1500 for me. That probably means that they should be worth more a wireless cable at least.

It's impossible to compare a pickup in the bridge to a pickup in the neck.
Come on Gibson I thought you'd know this

Premier Guitar is one of the more thorough abd intelligently written gearhead guitar magazines, but these "on the scene" trade show demos are a joke.
This one was particularly useless.
She may as well have stood outside the building and told us to take her word for it.
NeoFauve 3 years ago
the p94 has a more tele-ish brighter sound..the classic 57 ang 490r are warmer, fatter, creamier but a bit muffled..

i know what an epiphone costs, and its only 300. wait what country are you talking about????
Doublejeebus 3 years ago
New Zealand. My G400 is 800 brand new.
hippy1490 3 years ago
oh but thats NZ currency, not dollars, right?
my g400 was about 350 US dollars.
Doublejeebus 3 years ago

ouch. Your prices are wayy overinflated.
Doublejeebus 3 years ago
No. It's the conversion rate. It's the same amount of money, but USD$1 is worth more than NZD$1.
hippy1490 3 years ago
oh. lol. when you put the dollar sign there, i thought it was US dollars. my bad.
