  • i love to eat Hummus :)

    i like

  • Hummus yummus! ;)

  • For people making this for the first time, you may want to only use 1 tablespoon of tahini, taste it, and then decide if you want more or not. Too much will make it taste bitter/sour.

  • Am egyptian and I love cooking all type of food...my favorite Indian food chicken bryani and tandori chicken ......thank you ladys

  • Hi, Why do you add the extra olive oil on top???

  • @franice01

    For undiluted flavor.

  • Mmm I love spicy hummus with pita bread & baked chicken -3

  • Can I add sesame seeds instead of Tahini?

  • @rxmusic1 : We know folks who have but we have never used it so really can't tell you if there is a difference in flavor or texture. If you do try it, pl. let us know how it worked out :)

  • Everyone has his own version of dishes, whatever tastes good is right for you... But PLEASE! - YOU ARE NOT GONNA GET FAT FROM ANOTHER TABLESPOON OF OIL! - It's an insult to make food that comes from a region of the world recognized as having a very healthy diet and imposing on it silly American values of calorie counting and fat percentegas. This isn't pig-fat or butter your'e talking about, it's olive oil and sesame paste! Make your food tasty and enjoy it!

  • I prefer the dried chickpeas cooked until soft with onion and garlic.

  • thank you girls i was looking for a light recipe for humus!! gona try this now. with my best poppy

  • its an heresy to use canned chick peas!

use fresh one and boil them with soda power. Tip from the middle east

  • You are absolutely right! We were just offering a quick shortcut, but if you have the time, soaking and boiling is the best way.

  • @babanaglis interesting. i tried both and there was absolutely zero difference.

  • @babanaglis dude did they even put garlic. i dont think they did. idians desgraved us midelleasterners and why are the Indians doing this recipe in the first place? lol

  • @TheEgyptianOne FYI they did put garlic in it at 0:58.And I don't think there is a law

against making dishes that are not from your country. My dad is from the Middle East

and I tried his Hummus and Hetal and Anuja's to me they tasted the SAME.And

thats not how u spell Indians!!

  • @TheEgyptianOne salaam, hmmmm thats a wierd comment, i didnt knw u had to be frm a certain country in order to teach others about the worlds delicious foods,im not indian or middle eastern, just a down to earth american muslim who enjoys food from all over,,,,great work ladies, love all of ur recipes, inchallah i will be making some for ramadan this yr :)

  • @babanaglis

Why is the soda powder used? We make a lot of hummus at home but never heard of this.

  • I always add cumin, paprika and cayenne. Extra garlic too!!! yum :)

  • sounds good!

  • i never heard of that joke. and i am glad i didn't.

  • I just made this..MMM thanks ladies!

  • I think Armolana needs to put out a video..........so we can judge her.

  • A Tip: I save the liquid from the can, so instead of water I add the liquid. It gives you a rich flavor and a creamer consistancy. Try it

  • Anuja-sweetie, are you pregnant? hehe

and btw love love love Hetal's top and the necklace too. PS: great recipe...

  • Not pregnant...but I know where that top is going...into the trash! - Anuja

    And a thanks from Hetal!

  • :D :D :D

dear girls, at this point your regular viewers are interested in your private life too. don't freak out, it's completely natural, considering, that you are celebrities now. :0) cheers.

  • are you two related?

  • Friends

  • I love the haircut Hetal!

  • Thanks!!

  • OMG i thought it was harder to make hummus. gonna make it today for sunday lunch. thanks again girls!

  • I want to dive in there! Looks great.

  • Love it - Thank you !

  • Tahini is just sesame seeds and olive oil. Since you are using a food processor anyway, couldn't you just toast sesame seeds in a skillet or in the oven and then just use that directly and just adjust the olive oil?

In the US, sesame seeds can be found in little packets from the Badia line starting at 50 cents a pop, and you wouldn't be paying extra for the word "tahini" on the label or the name of the store.

  • if you tried that i think you would just end up with whole or cracked sesame seeds in your hummus, i don't think a food processor will give you the same smooth result, tahini is usually stone ground. that being said however i think toasted sesame seeds in hummus might be yummy anyways.

  • Speaking of which, I wonder if the girls would consider doing a Tip Tuesday on using a mortar and pestle?

  • Perhaps a Q&A segment could be introduced so some questions can be answered briefly in video form like once every month or so. Videos such as these ShowMeTheCurry ones have been sooo educational. Chances are that if one person has the question, many more may as well and all can benefit.

  • Ain't that the truth!!!! Very educational, but the more I learn the more questions I have (and that I notice are missing)

I have come up with a question about maida. They have said that maida is all- purpose flour, but my "research" would imply that it is finer than regular all-purpose flour, so would what is called "cake flour" in the US, be closer to what maida is supposed to be?

Also, a few things that are missing that I expect on an Indian site. Vindaloo, Naan jalebis from scratch.

  • A trick I do on a new jar of tahini is turn it upside down for a while, ideally the day before you begin to use it.

  • Yup, this trick works great! thanks for the hint.

  • Great tip! Thanks!

  • Do you live in the US?

  • They're from Dallas, TX!! Just like me!!

  • Your top is nice hetal :)

  • You guys don't have low-fat tahini over there? Here in the UK you can get low-fat tahini - it's just as tasty and it's pretty much "hah! I'm not feeling guilty now!" A great way to serve this is with paprika stirred into it and then with some paprika sprinkled on top, with a lemon wedge to squeeze over.

  • Wow...we'll definitely be on the lookout for low-fat tahini.

  • YUM!

How long will it keep? Does it freeze?

BTW- want to thank you big time for your chilli advice - came at the perfect time. You would be amazed at my gigantic chilli plants!

  • I love hummus! So glad you guys did this...it looks really easy!
