  • Beautiful song

  • In the spirit of doowop, no musical instruments necessary for obvious reason: these guys are so damn good!

  • Why is this song called Sukiyaki?

  • @DLeeGriff The original song was in Japanese and was titled Ue o muite aruko, recorded by Kyu Sakamoto in 1964. When it was released in English-speaking regions, they (the powers that be) wanted a shorter name that was easy for those who didn't speak Japanese to remember. So they called it Sukiyaki, which is a "hot pot" dish.

  • @123456skylar jajaja i know huh!!

  • love the 90's, when U actually had to have a voice to sing... unlike most of the crap today. jhs and hs days.. lots of memories

  • @bellazara20 This song was originally done in the 60s by the Japanese singer Skamoto. It was the first non-English song ever to make the top ten.

  • I agree this is like a time capsule for me... wow . Im sure there are a handful of good voices out there but you would never know it with all the crap they have them hooked up to.

    Great Upload

    Thank you

  • Its sad that the past 2 maybe 3 generations just dont get it. I maybe only 33 but I'm old school and old fashioned to my core. I grew up in the 90's and will always love the music and the days of that era. This was and always will be real music. Damn!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome, nice to see these guys do nothing but take the tune from one of my favorite songs and change out what was once depressing lyrics with generic ones.

  • I remember I grew up with this, After 7, IV Xample, Portrait, All 4 One, Jodeci, Boyz II Men. I remember it was every month there would be another good album of doo-wop harmonies in the 90's. Now there is nothing. Come on guys, I want this new generation to actually know what good music is.

  • wish people would watch their language and act like grown-ups instead of children on the internet.

  • I love this but Kyu Sakamoto's original was a powerful meditation on mourning and grief (and one of my favorite songs, ever) and with the new lyrics this is just a very good break up song.

  • @eddyjackson its a cover to a song dick! of course its gonna have the title of the song its coverng. the lyrics were chosen cuz they are tell the same story as the japanese. its a horrible thing to wish death on ppl just because you dont like the song they sing

  • Beautiful rendition of the first non-English song to ever make it onto the charts in the USA, back in the early 60s. Nice job, guys!

  • This is a cover of a great song from the early 60s by Sakamoto Kyu :)

  • where is this band now?

  • There are no more black boy bands anymore, this decade sucks so far!

  • @MrHeineken32 no black boybands, or any other boybands really...just solo guys like Bieber. Blarg.

  • @MrHeineken32 ... actually 3 of these dudes are latino (2 are brothers), I knew them before they were famous :-) Great group of guys ...

  • @MrHeineken32

    b2k was the last one

  • @dudeyy399 One just got signed, Ahmir.

  • @MrHeineken32 cuz now all the black boys think they can rap

  • @MrHeineken32 I know, they all branched off and became individual artists, who rap about getting drunk, g-g-getting drunk in hurr!!

  • @MrHeineken32 Well Boyz II Men are getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame... Theres that at least.

  • @TBonne29 They definitely deserve it bro

  • @MrHeineken32

There are no good black musicians at all anymore......

Prince is a great guitarist but I feel Ray Charles and James Brown were the last greatest black musicians that were alive, oh yea, stevie wonder is still alive, but NEW black musicians DO NOT EXIST !

sad sad world in music these days

  • @MrHeineken32 umm you should check out Ahmir there a really good group of black sings that do R and B i like em

  • @MrHeineken32 they are not a black boy band. they are a black boy group. Bands play instruments.

  • barack you are the best american president

  • great song

  • real good song. thanks for posting

  • Lol...."gangster tears..." -nice one....

  • Good music stands the test of time.

I like the original that came out in 1963 and I like this version, and the Taste of Honey version too.

Too bad it's called "Sukiyaki" because that food seems to have nothing to do with the song or its lyrics.

  • @PowlettJones45 look up the origional song...

  • Powerful Music !!!!! Why can't music of today be like this ?

  • @Abama811 It's all about the money.

  • A very nice version of Kyu Sakamoto's Sukiyaki. Love this song since a kid. The original lyrics are about a guy having to face up toward the sky so that his tears will not drop after being dumped by his girlfriend. I got to know this only recently. Sukiyaki, the English name of the song, is a style of Japanese food and is used because it is easier to pronounce and remember by English audience.

  • Both the original and newer versions of Sukiyaki makes me want to cry.

  • they just adapted the tune of the original sukiyaki song which is japanese... the lyrics don't have the same meaning... the japanese version is about a journey... while this one is about love, romance, and the like...

  • Selena's Version of this tops all versions.

  • You probably mean Taste of Honey's version, which was released in '81. Kyu Sakamoto's Japanese version, the original, was out in late Spring '63. While this version is superb,Taste of Honey's will always be my sentimental favorite.

  • why were they called sukiyaki? nice song though

  • because originally it was a Japanese song and it was in Japanese

  • they were called 4p.m the song is called sukiyaki

  • ugh! Idk if i love this version better or the Japanese version! ugh! Both are such beautiful versions!

  • This is one of my favorite song!

  • flashback to 17 again. Love this song!!

  • These are old friends Larry and rey from over 20 years ago ... choke ... I used to have singing contests with them in the parking lot of a nightclub we went to, LOL! Seriously the guys have skills and are really decent, humble good human beings ;-)

  • i love this version!

  • This reminds me of BACK IN THA DAY.

  • This is the golden era of R&B; when MTV actually had music, too!

  • I remember this jam. This song and that one rap version of Bohemian Rhapsody when homegirl sang it on the bus.

  • OMG.....

    Love it so Much.........

  • Reminds me of the '80s group The Deele.

  • 1:06 Obama sighting! :P

  • the orginal person who sang and wrote this song was Japaneasse and that was in 1962. That is a fact. Now that 4pm came out with it in a english version god bless them.

  • Actually, the American R&B group, Taste of Honey, came up with the English song first, on which this cover is based.

  • this was good wen it came out we need a good group to represent RnB again

  • Great song! Reminds me of a time when Mtv actually played music.

  • @vincentdeltoro Yeah, those days in the 80s were the best, when the videos told a story that might or might not follow the song...New Country videos still do that.

  • makes blashbacks alot better lol

  • There isn't anybody this good anymore.

  • aww i still remember the lyrics

  • this was one of my all time fave songs

  • What a bittersweet love song. Loving this version. 4PM did a wonderful job.

  • music like this isn't made anymore - now it's all electronically altered to sound "better"...Britney spears is a perfect example.

  • Yeah, blame the computer software program Auto-Tune. Any nice looking girl or guy can become a singer if he/she sings through the song 8-10 times and they take the good parts from each time and put them together. They need a best no Auto-Tuned Artist and a best no Auto-Tuned album at the People's Choice Awards and the Grammy Awards. Problem is that most of today's singers are probably not eligible.

  • dis ma jam!!!

  • Dang this song was popular the year I graduated high school. Dang I feel old.

  • no offence but thats a mean dad or whatever at the end of the song >=(

    i hate him >=(

  • thanks for posting this! this version seems to have been forgotten in favor of a taste of honey's version.

  • Thanks for posting this excellent version of a great melody. Those who like this English acappella version may also like the Japanese acappella version by the group the VariAsians.

  • i feel very peaceful everytime i hear this song.. <3

  • Simple, yet a very soulful piece. Love it !

  • my mates sang this at there mums funeral it was so sad

  • WOW!! Loved it! I hate MTV but this was excellent!

  • WHO are they????

  • 4 p.m

  • i was 10 years old ..still it make me shiver hear it...

  • damn it makes me wish music went back to days like this before there were beefs and disputes and talented musicians. i'm sorry young musicians are feeling themselves way to goddamn much and the music is suffering.

  • These arent rappers tho ^.^

  • lol nowadays rappers be singing about guns, drugs, women, and sex
