saw them yesterday in eugene and hot damn they're good. i'm so sad that it was only my second show of theirs that i've seen. definitely see them live though these videos don't do them any justice whatsoever.
PLEASE. When you see Floater, yell any out other song but this one. I love it and can't think of a time when they haven't played it, they know that much of the crowd are there to see it. Yell out "Thin Skin" or "Centerfold", or "Clean Plastic Babies" Show some depth, eh?!?
I know what you're saying WOW. But, going to a Floater concert without DannyBoy, is like going to a Led Zepplin concert without Stairway to Heaven..lol. Now everyone knows about how old I am...lol. Looking forward to seeing Floater in Grants Pass on March 6th ! ! Peace all ! !
One night in Seattle these drunk college idiots were chatting about the show before one song had been played. Went like this, " well, all I know is that once they play, um, that song you told me about called, uh 'Danny Boy', I Am OUTTA here!"
'Danny Boy' was the last song Floater played that night!-)
I'm sorry, but I like Floater's first two albums and have for over a decade... and yes, they sound like Primus. Anyone who disagrees has never listened to one or the other. I had this argument over a decade ago. They almost duplicate Primus, minus Les' vocals. Guitar, drums and especially bass...Primus.
Besides this one and Alcoholic, the moved away from it enough to get a unique sound in my opinion. Still having that Primus influence, but sounding then like Floater.
To recap...The singer/bassist has talent and good lyrics. The guitarists style is aweful and sounds way too much like U2 (i hate U2). They seem like a pretty good live band and I wouldn't mind paying a cover charge to see them...I would say they seem like they have a large cult type of following in the northwest and only dozens of fans east of Nevada, as this video has only 3.8k hits at the time of this comment. Overrall good. Pink Floyd, Tool, and Primus are all much better at this style.
well, i'v listened to about 10 Floater songs, and while that isn't really enough to give a fair assessment I'll say this...they have talent, particularly the front man, the guitar player is nothing special and a complete U2 wannabe. I agree with the Floater fans that they sound nothing like Primus (Primus is much better). Overrall I give them a 7/10...and it's only that high because there is sooooo many crap bands out there that anything remotely decent gets an automatic higher grade from me.
I suggest seeing them live and using the cd's to rate instead of the mid to poor quality videos you see on youtube. They are fantastic.Any album will stand up to scrutiny. If you want recent and topical, do "Stone by Stone". If you want classics, do "Burning Sosobra" or "Alter". They are truly a fantastic band. I wait here patiently in Utah for them to return.
haha gotta love the dude in the red beanie not even looking at the band. and the 40 year old dude wearing his hat like a tard. only at a floater show.
Floater, just heard about them... nothing too impressive, they sound a lot like Primus. Of course I couldn't dream to play this well (yet) but I think they could do better.
Ok I listened to it again, one year later. Its pretty cool, they have an interesting sound, but maybe its more the sound of the crowd drowning out the music (so it sounds shittier than it is) I'll look up a better video.
Yep... just a shitty recording with obnoxious audience talking over the music. I dig their music, could be that I'm more into progressive than previous years.
@shizzka55 They dig the band for no good reason to dig the band? Why not see Justin Beiber instead then? Or maybe you're trying to say something else and I'm not understanding you?
I saw them yesterday in Chico I got a pint signed :) (:
