  • @RuleNr34 so are bowties :)

  • Fuck me this guy got about... one minute he's trying to kill Sherlock Holmes and the next he's trying to sell me Barratt Homes... at least he kinda rhymed.

  • "Mrs Hudson leave Baker Street? England would fall!"

Can't wait for them to update this for Sherlock. I mean, they have to! The fandom has already started tagging things - SM!

Also, who else thinks Moran looks like Alexander Armstrong?

  • (6:10-6:26) Sherlock looks handsome posed against that air gun. I'd screen save 6:14 - My god, how we miss Jeremy Brett... we fans miss, love, adore this man!

  • "THIS EMPTY HOUSE IS MY TREE AND YOU ARE MY TIGER!!!" nuff said... :))

  • this moran is a relative of dr grimbsy roylott

    the speckled band

  • Well, now that Watson is a Timelord.........

  • @RekaTheAlchemist hahaha yes!!! ;)

  • He's wearing a fez!

  • COl.Moran must be a man of great strength o.o...dear Holmes was nearly strangled...but thanks to him we saw Holmes in his raffle hair which made him even more gorgeous ^^

  • i love jeremy but his sherlock's character is so effeminate. imagine if he was james bond

  • Comment removed

  • @ultramagellan

honestly, he's the fanciest sherlock. no offense. but i do love him in rebecca. if you're so good, maybe you can tell me about my gender and social status, ultima maggallanes?

  • I love how she just shoves the tray at him while she gets the bullit out of her pocket! GO MRS HUDSON!

  • Colonel Moran hates campers.

  • THE PARALLEL IS EXACT!!!!!! always loved it when Holmes said that!

  • This empty house is my tree, and YOU R My TIGER!

Wow I love the snapping of Holmes here :)

  • Lestrade's voice when he says 'Mister Holmes! etc' is so cuuuuute :))

  • I would love to have that gun!

  • "You may have the right to arrest me, but I don't have to sit here and listen to you talk crap!!!" Okay, I paraphrased that, but the gist is there.

    LOL!!!

  • Perhaps the fez was a subliminal farewell to famed comic Tommy Cooper, who died the year of this material's production. Just a thought.

  • fighting scene is ridiculous

  • I like it... I stumbled upon this when I searched for the books... Obviously not as good as the book itself, but it is the first TV adaptation that comes closest to it. Too bad it never aired in germany, as far as I know... Still, it is rather interesting stuff...

  • Resting the barrel on the ledge of the windowsill would have changed the harmonics of the trajectory and thus the liklihood of "a miss." So, the point is: don't rest the barrel on a window....rest the forearm!

  • @RuleNr34 So are bow ties ;)

  • Watson's wearing a fez now. Fezes are cool.

  • 2:22 !!! AWESOME scream ! :)

  • despite being a huge fan of granada series I have to admit that fight scenes are not the strongest part of it...I always LOL at them! But oh well, still Brett /Holmes is gorgeous though I really miss Burke/Watson!

  • Even "a *blind* German mechanic" can produce such a weapon. What a funny cliché, isn't it?

  • WATSON IS WEARING A FEZ!!! -writhes around in delight- :DDD

  • I seem to have developed a kink for Holmes being manhandled/getting beaten up/choked. XD Maybe because he is usually so composed and aloof it's unusual to see him being weak and if only for a couple of seconds. Or just because of the hurt/comfort factor. Sometimes I creepy mself out. *lol*

  • I think I saw this one in The Lady In Green.

  • Best incarnation of Mrs. Hudson ever, y/y?

  • watson looks so funny in that hat

  • 'such an ingenious contraption he fashioned to kill me! i feel so loved' holmes thinks while taking his gloves and hat off and seeing the man build the weapon. but come on, who ever stays staring outside a window without moving?

brett does quite a show with the tiger and bait story XD

'matthews! *smacks lips* who knocked out my left canine'. wait, say what? smile. let me see that hole.

and brett sitting on that couch at 8:31. i dunno, he looks so pwetty.

    persian slipper/smoke-case ftw!!

  • the hunter has become the hunted, by the great sherlock holmes

  • That or he was a serial killer. They said India was too hot for him. Why?

  • @Songsmirth coz Moran shot someone in India and there was pressure to put him behind bars in India...

  • 9:07 and 9:18 adorable, like a giddy school boy!!!!

  • Colonel Moran uses headbutt! It's super effective! 2:54

  • Homes, can fly, Homes, can fly, Homes can fly!

  • @TheLadyRed Holmes can do everything. :-D

  • AND YOU ARE MY TIGER!

  • Apparently Holmes spent The Great Hiatus learning to fly. 8D

And I love Lestrade's sort of "omgyay!" and apparently willing attitude to follow directions on a note from a man who he wasn't entirely sure was alive. Oh, my dear Lestrade, I love you so. <3

  • shikari.. lol i love it when brits copy hindi words..

  • That battle with Moran!!

"This empty house is my tree, and YOU ARE MY TIGER! THE PARALLEL IS EXACT!"

    SHERLOCK HOLMES ROCKS!!!

  • They let Holmes keep the rifle?! That's a new one on me lol. I guess he won't be needing Watson's service revolver anymore XD And omg Watson in a fez.... I can't take him seriously rofl

  • @regenlief7 Yeah in the original story Holmes in convinced that "The bullets alone are evidence enough to put his head in the noose" but it seems that wasn't the case in two future stories 'The Adventure Of The Illustrious Client'

which takes place in 1902 Moran is refered to as 'The Living Colonel Sebastian Moran' and in 'The Last Bow'

(Holmes's last recorded case) which takes place in 1914 Moran is mentioned as still being alive.

  • loving the hat in 9:27 watson!!!

  • Watson's smoking cap.

  • Is it just me, or did Holmes rather FLY at Moran? Watson + Fez = JUST PLAIN AWESOME.

  • Love the way Mrs Hudson thrusts the tea tray into Holmes' hands. Great character. Love her reaction to Holmes turning up from the dead also.

  • Love the way Holmes manages to make "shikari" sound like a rude word.

And seeing Watson in a fes has made my world forever a slightly better place.

  • watson in a fez... now that is funny

  • Up in the sky! Its a bird! Its a plane! Its Super Holmes!

  • THIS HOUSE IS MY TREE.

    It makes me laugh.

  • i would rather own it than deal w spammers!

  • Ang Watson saves the day. Hooray!!!!

  • Woo Hoo!

  • @swollower is it just me, or does moran look kinda proud that Holmes recognized him?

  • cool airgun with a weapon like that you could scare the local yobs lol

  • Well, what a fantastic fight.

PS: I notice that both Holmes and the Colonel tried to attack each other's neck. What do you think?

  • THE PARALLEL IS EXACT!

  • Holmes' stretch is awesome! Thats how im gonna do it from now on.

  • "This empty house is my tree...and you are my tiger!" Love it, Holmes just amazes me :)

  • lol 2:22 holmes can fly???

  • hes batman!

  • @Banminator well he certainly does look like batman in that shot lmao!

  • Annnd judo chop. He he. He

  • Col. Sebastian Moran.......I love that part

  • Too bad "Watson this is EXCELLENT" is cut... but it's nobody's fault! This reflexion of Watson shows how keenly he tried to acquire Holmes's way of reasoning.

  • when holmes holds up his hand towards his "Tiger" it's as if he's saying "hi there!"

  • i would literally kill for that air rifle

  • Fantastic! Thank you so much for putting this episode on Youtube. I have enjoyed it enormously. I am a Brit living in Denmark so the opportunity to enjoy english TV let alone outstanding series such as this are very limited. Thanks again.

  • So Col. Moran must be to Moriarty like Watson is to Holmes. Explains why Moran held onto revenge for 3 years. Watson would not stop until vengence was satisfied if the roles were reversed.

  • Exactly. :) You should read Neil Gaiman's "A Study In Emerald", which is an excellent pastiche that plays on that very idea.

  • I will certainly do that. Thank you for the referal.

  • You're welcome! Hope you enjoy it. The twist at the end certainly threw me for a loop!

  • I love Holmes's ruffled hair!

  • @ericthefrootbat same here

  • Crockyoshighty, if you recall Col Moran served in India. The term Sherlock Holmes used, SHIKARI, is a term in an Indian language(Hindi) meaning hunter.

India in the 1800 had many dense forests and hunting was a famous pastime for kings, noblemen and British officials of the East India company.

  • Shekrara I believe, is Hebrew for strong drink. So is Sherlock calling the Col. a drunk? Witty if he is. Also a Kid is not a child for those that may think so. He is referring to a young goat. Though the idea of one tying a child by a piece of rope to lure a tiger, is far more villainous to say nothing of amusing! You rotter! People in India wear face masks on the back of their heads while walking in the jungle. This is because a tiger is loathed to attack head on.

  • Nice post, thank you

  • "Shochra" (שוכרה - with ch like in the Scottish loch, like the sound produced by the throat before one spits) means something like intoxication; it does not, as far as I know, refer to any drink in particular. The word "Shekrara" is not familiar to me.

  • Ta for that! I have heard of "Shochra", I can't even remember how I came up with,"Shekrara". (?) Perhaps I was just going the phonetic route, albeit badly. Still all and all, I think old Sherlock is, calling the Col., a washed out drunk. :o) LOL And once more, thank you for your excellent reply. Cheers!

  • You are most welcome.

  • Chinkyraj is right. In the story, Moran was the best tiger hunter that her Majesty's eastern empire had produced and his bag of tigers remained unrivaled. Holmes says that a "shikari" (hunter in Hindi) such as Moran was fooled by the bait (Holmes' statue). Tiger hunters tied goats (kid) under a tree and sat on a machan (a platform on top of the tree) waiting for the tiger. Holmes says he did the same to capture Moran, his tiger, and the parallel is exact.

  • I am a big fan of Sherlock Holmes. But He's always reminded me of Dracula lol

  • Dracula?

    how?

  • I dunno. i just always imagined when he turns aroud really fast like he always does, that he would have fangs, that would be pretty cool. I dunno why though. I thought of that when i was like 5 so when ur that young everything is weird. Don't get me wrong Sherlock Holmes is one of my most favorite shows and Jeremy Brett is the best Sherlock of them all, in my opinion.

  • Maybe you'll like to know that Jeremy Brett has played Dracula ^^ There are pictures of him as Dracula on the net. Search long enough and you'll find them =)

  • Thats awesome! Im gonna go look at those pics right now.

  • In that case, his hair'line' "Widow's Peak" will SERVE him V-E-D-D-E-E WEHL !!

YAY! And, THANX 2-U, 'our Dear "ThreePipeProblem" [3 months ago]!!'

    Luv'th'Net! //^_^\\

  • LOL, In that case, you should watch "The Last Vampyre" it's here on youtube, and it has a scene exactly like the one you described! Holmes does it to scare Watson. It worked, needless to say. :'D

  • Shortly after this episode Watson got into a go-kart and drove around in a parade as a shriner. (Joke)

  • YOU ARE MY TIGER

    lol so feisty Holmes

  • Okay, WHAT has Watson got on his head? It looks like a red, upside-down flower pot! I just so wanted Holmes to go, "Watson, will you take that ridiculous (with the accent on ridiculous) thing off." Ha! Love this story!

  • Why is he wearing a Fez? I believe that is what he is wearing...

  • probably a souvenir Holmes brought him

  • It IS a Fez; they're manufactured in Turkey and the middle east. Watson was once a British army doctor sent to Afghanistan. It was probably a souvenier he brought back to London after his wartime experiences.

  • Excellent and spot on!

  • The fight scenes are so corny in this series, actually they are almost funny.

  • I know! I think that it is hysterical that everything in the series is fantastic except the fight scenes which are so cheesy they make me laugh.

  • Seem to recall ol' Sherlock was a pretty accomplished boxer - not to mention skills in other martial arts. So why didn't he simply throw Colonel Moran an old-fashioned straight right? (Or perhaps that "cross-hit under the jaw" mentioned in "The Sign of Four".)
