they should be testing you the way you were trained. If they are doing it by NREMT standards, the skill sheet should say "takes or verbalizes BSI". That being the case, you better do one or the other.
DE protocols have changed for this. we apply pressure,and if bleeding continues, we apply a tourniquet, then position them for shock. its more like a 1 minute station now.
what if someone got shot in the chest and blood is coming out of there mouth profusely. what would you do then?

not a part of the tested skill. Not all EMT-Bs are trained in venipuncture.

The treatment has changed now. You apply pressure and the Evaluator advises the wound continues to bleed. Then you apply a tourniquet.
