  • I will probably order one of these in the next few days. 8-12 hours a day for 9 years sitting your behind in that chair... rocking, leaning, moving, slouching and that is the extent of the damage and they sent you a new arm for free? Naturally this must be one heck of a comfortable seat to want to sit there that long.. Sign me up buddy.

  • I wonder how many hours you have logged in this thing over that 9 years? I am about to buy one of these things if that has lasted you 9 years and that's all that's wrong with it... wow Super Chair

  • @neoblood3d 6 hours a day, minimum; probably more commonly 8-12.

  • @neoblood3d To clarify one thing. The right arm did snap off once and was replaced by a Herman Miller Dealer at no charge. He sent me the arm (With Tools) and I had to do the replacement myself. It took about an hour. That was a few years ago. I just figured out the other day that the two arms are slightly different in that one can be adjusted lower than the other now.

  • Good job: you have pointed out 3 of the minor failings of the Aeron: the foam disintegrates under the "waterfall edge" better stuff can be purchased at your building supply store: buy a piece of pipe insulation and get gummy good stuff: better than HM's original.the lumbars Always rip after a few years: you're better off squirting some black silicon schmoo in there and it's stronger than new. As for the rip in the stitch...live with it or buy a cheap replacement on ebay: 10 screws and you're new

  • @bobknobsky Thanks for the comments. Is "Black Silicon Schmoo" a formal name? I'm clueless on such things and am not entirely sure what I'd be looking for there.

  • Schmoo = RTV sealant, common at auto parts stores: typically 1.5 oz squeeze tube . Spread the crack, squirt some in, Close the gap with rubber bands and try to wipe off the excess: It dries like rubber and can be cleaned up afterwards. This area should have been reenforced from the factory...

  • @bobknobsky For the record; I tried this and it worked out a lot better than I expected. Thanks for the suggestion. About a month later, the whole lumbar support broke; clean through the middle. It was a surprise; and I'm not even sure when it happened. So, I am lumbar-support-;less again. But thanks for the wonderful suggestion.
