i was blessed enough to hear him speak at a seminole pow wow. some people left ,but i was so mesmerized by his speach i actually experianced out of body. he said let the indian teach you! ive been stagnant for a while, but plan to get back to where i belong attending medicine wheel and moon ceremony, because i have never felt the spirit so much or felt more at home then there. I know there is much to learn and lets face it time is running out. thank you red crow safe and peacefull journey.post 1
Thank you my hero. You are immortal now to us and the earth. You climbed into many minds and turned the light on for those in the dark. I am grateful.
"There is an ancient Indian saying that something lives only as long as the last person who remembers it. My people have come to trust memory over history. Memory, like fire, is radiant and immutable while history serves only those who seek to control it, those who douse the flame of memory in order to put out the dangerous fire of truth. Beware these men - they are dangerous themselves + unwise. Their false history is written in the blood of those who might remember of those who seek the truth"
Kia ora for posting. I was reflecting on the memories of my own kaumatua (elders) and this came to mind regarding current imbalances. "Just because you can HAVE something, the highest form of respect is to leave it for those who actually need it MORE THAN YOU". It is aligned to this proverb; Na te rourou, naku te rourou ka ora ai te Iwi. With your basket and my basket the people will be sustained. Nga mihi to the whanau (relatives and kin) of Red Crow for sharing. Mauri Ora!
...to our last meeting at the Lesh/Dylan concert at Del Mar Fairgrounds. To look in your eyes once more & hug you my heart brother Red Crow- Maybe only the Dalai Lama has toured more to speak for Human Rights & the Mother Earth. This month October, 2008 (on the gregorian calendar), the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights I bow to your spirit in gratitude for all your guidance for my family, for the human race & the Mother Earth- Mitakweahsun
Red Crow has had a Good Transition to the Other Side, and is singing with the Elders eternally now with the Kachina Sky People.
I first met him in the late 70's at the Troubador WLA at an AIM benefit, and was able many times after that to share the sacred space & sacred herbs with him... Golden Gate Park concerts, the Hopi/Dine Friendship meeting in AZ, walking with him & John Trudell to meet Sting at the Save the Amazon Rainforest Press Conference downtown Lost Angeles, etc.
I am sorrowed to see him pass. This nation had much to learn from him. He represented his people and all Native Americans in the best way. He is missed..
I discovered the Red Crow only last night in YouTube... and I am so touched by everything he IS. It is really too overwhelming for me to able to speak more.... Just thank you all who are posting these videos.....
So much love and respect i have for this brother Floyd Red Crow !!!may we breath in the beauty and wisdom of his words ! thank you for sharing this my friend !many blessings to you now and always ~
Something I forgot to add was that if anyone that does'nt understand what the Lakota people try to teach they should read a book by Joesph M. Marshall the third called
"The Lakota Way"
Great reading and it gives insight to a people that was deemed savages by the white man; but if you read the book you will learn something much different.
My closest friend is 3/4 Lakota and an active member of aim. His name is Siyotanka Weitkei as known by his people or Crazy Flute as known by the white tounge. He is an active member of AIM and I have much respect for him and his people. The hardships endured by the Native American people is sad. A type of American genocide at the least. His loss is a sad one. My heart goes out to all the Native peoples.
The day Red Crow died, I didn't know and found myself looking for videos of him. It was then that I came across a video calling for prayers, saying that he was ill. A little more checking, I came a cross an "In Memory" video. My heart felt as though a piece had been taken out. Very strange. I met him only once. It certainly was enough for an imprint. But, that was how he was in Spirit. A powerful resonater. I feel the loss knowing that he's left this plane. I wish him peaceful rest.
I think it should be noted that the republic of Lakota runs right in the middle of the nafta super highway. I do not see this going down without a fight. So I implore the people of the states of, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri & Iowa Support the Lakota in their quest to be their own nation as it will stop to the new world orders plan. We have to stand up now & support these people.
We should all support the Lakota people in their effort to become a free, independent & sovereign Nation. The biggest reason I sight is because The United States Supports Israel's right to be recognized as a state in Palestine. I think if the United states feels that Israel has a right to exist The republic of Lakota should as well. After all These people's lands were taken from them at the barrel of a gun. It is time the USA recognizes their mistake & restores honor to our government.
Thank you Carlos for this beautiful tribute to a Great Warrior.
The Red Crow flies with eagles now and is with the Great Spirit. We will hear his songs in the wind, the earth song, and see him in the trees and the sun for all eternity. Although we know we will see each other again, we cry for the walk we take without him on the red road. I love you Floyd, and Rosie and the dogs and send all our love to your family. All My Relations. Toby & Honey Olympia, WA
