Great scene. . . and sadly, a biting indictment on the condescending 'status' accorded all writers. . . "just like our house. . . I work, and my husband putters around the house." This scene infuriated one of my English college professors- 29 years later, now I know why.
ROFL! The guy crashes his plane into their house and then has the balls to ask to use the phone! Garp is a nicer guy than me. I would have said no ,get out of here you dickhead! lol! funny.
Great book. This piece of film tells me not to bother seeing the movie because as usual Hollywood has turned something tasty into something lukewarm and insipid.
i know, i did, it just pissed me off that they had the hunter shoot at her in this rally, and i got a bit confused as i hadn't seen the movie in two years so yeah... lol
I just finished it like two days ago. Picked it up for $1.21 at a thrift store. I devoured it and I don't normally like fiction - it was like someone's life story, or rather, all the odd things/events about the various people we know in one person. Remarkable.
SUPER!!!

Oh, and typical of many real estate agents. . . . .hustlers who are totally clueless.

You might try reading A Prayer for Owen Meany, another great John Irving book. I loved it!

Garp's father is a ball turett gunner. Considering he serves but one purpose in the novel, visualize....
Enjoy.

Wasn't this movie SUPPOSED to be a comedy?
What's with the serious drama and blood violence?

Now if that had been a properly built brick house in England, the pilot would have been killed and the house hardly damaged.
