You have to be very old... in YouTube terms. Up until a few months ago, you could apply for a director status. You had to explain what kind of videos you're making and 'sign' another declaration that you wouldn't upload anything copyrighted. Then you had to WAIT. Then you were able to upload videos over ten minutes.
They don't have this option anymore. I'd give you mine but that's not possible either, I'm afraid.
I don't know if it's still possible, but at least up until recently you could apply for an old-school directors account (videos over 11 minutes) at longform (at) youtube (dot) com. It might be worth a try.
And - no, I think we all hugged those free-huggers, except from Tonia who wasn't (and still isn't) too much into those kind of physical Web 2.0 activities.
