But why pay the same for less? The Evora is quicker, more economical for a start. Really it beats the Cayman in almost every way you can think off. Also any Lotus buy will almost certainly be more exclusive than it's rival.

to be honest, I`d have preferred it if lotus had stuck a 3.5L turbocharged engine in the elise, and refined that chassis and suspension. these changes to the elise would still make it lighter than the evora.

The cayman has more development and updates behind it, whereas the evora is a new car. the cayman looks far better

Lotus cant only have the elise it's just not a viable business plan. They need a maturer car than the Elise and the Evora fits the bill perfectly. Still i think there will be hotter Elises in the future maybe even something along the lines of what you suggested. As for the looks the Evora isn't the greatest car ever but it seems to grow on me all the. Porsche styling has been boring for about 9 years but the Cayman is the best looking Porsche. Still neither is a patch on the old Esprit.

I don't know about you, but my Elise without super charger is quick enough for me. I can hang with Nissan GTR in all turns. If you want to go fast on straight, buy a Vett or something with large engine. If you want to enjoy corning and G - force, buy Lotus.

British cars aren't generally sound compared to German cars, but I wouldn't compare a Cayman to an Elise. Two totally different things. Honestly, if you had a 4x4 Porsche, would you really go off roading in it anyway?? If you want to compare cars, I guess you would have to compare an Elise to a Boxster. Porsche still wins in that category.

My family owned two boxster (basically Cayman w/o roof), Turbo, and now Carrea S4. We think Porsches are nice car but they are "boring" to look at. I also have Lotus Elise and I get 500% more attentions from people.  Porsches are just another good cars. To me they are very fast MB.

Have you driven latest Porshes? Interior, smell, feels are almost identical to MB! Of course Porshe handles, breaks and communicate with driver better than MB. But general feel is still German (like MB). it doesn't have "exotic" feel. Newer Ferrari and Lambo are becoming more German car like (after all Lambo is owned by Audi). This leaves Lotus as the only ture hard core sports car manufacture left on the Earth.

The Elise and Exige use an engine co-developed with Yamaha. It's not a Toyota only engine. The Evora uses a Toyota only engine which was not designed for sportscars. It's just a standard V6 engine you get in a Camry.

I would love a Honda or well-tuned Ford V-6 as well, but the Toyota 3.5L is a superb engine. They're torquey, very powerful, and silky smooth (more than the any Ford Duratec and maybe even any Honda J-Series).

All it really needs here is maybe a slightly higher redline and a snortier exhaust. The Toyota factory supercharged 3.5L would've been nice for the price, too.

I prefer the exige. this evora is still a really good car I think, but it doesn't appear to be as aggressive and besides it doesn't have so much more power considering how much more it weighs compared to an Elise or Exige. So it's not the best Lotus, but it's still really good compared to the many boring "sports cars" which are way too quite and definitely too heavy!

This wasn't designed to be in the same category as Exige. The Evora has a boot big enough to fit golfing clubs, full leather interior, air conditioning etc all these just tell you its market is going against the Porsche Cayman. I would prefer the Evora as the interior looks good and quiet when you drive at high speeds :))
