The sniping duel is likely the easiest thing to do during the whole game. All you have to do is avoid getting shot by the German sniper and you'll be fine. Seriously, how hard is it to not take cover? By the way, love this tutorial.
Just avoid staying out of cover once the German sniper appears. Stay out too long and he's surely going to kill you in one shot. You just have to be faster, not camp out.

very good method A++ but the way i did it was take cover behind the couch so you can only see the middle window.. there's also some gr8 elbow shots you can get on him from there, but what you do is fire, crouch, and move right behind the couch so he doesn't hit you
Done this too on vet. Best way to do it is to go to the downstairs window where the only window you can see is the one on the far right. Therefore the sniper can't hit you from any other windows except the one, when he comes near it, boom!!!
another statergy is when hes up top from behind the sofa you can see just part of his sholder sticking out. Just hold your breath so he doesn't pop out and shoot, do it three times and vola. Its very easy to pull off, if hes not there draw his fire till he ends up there simple.
If you get in the multipliers then it would really go.
2 head shots kill him
1 head shot and 1 body shot kill him.
3 body shots kill him.
I don't know why anyone is blatantly lying about their kills from rookie and regular mode. Then again this is youtube, thank the others for their kind responses.
That's a load of shit. I killed him with 2 shots to the body on Veteran. I shot him once and the guy say "You only grazed him" and then I shot him again and he said "well done, but the soldiers would of heard the shots."
People you should really stop lying, if your one shot killing him your obviously not playing on Veteran difficulty. It takes between 2-3 shots to take him out. I know, I have nailed him right in the head and it still takes an additional 1 to 2 shots to kill him.

The star on your compass always points you to exactly the window he will be in--it's not just a generic pointer to the building. I could even see it working in this video.
See I kept trying to get ONE perfect headshot on him and I didn't care if I died in the process. I didn't know you had to hit him MULTIPLE TIMES. On hardened when I killed him it seemed random that that was the right shot. THIS explains it. I've never seen him in those top windows btw, veteran either.

OK I'm doing veteran right now and its impossible to kill him!!!! I shot him but it keeps saying " U just grazed him" or some other stupid nonsense.

yeah it takes two or three bullets to kill him, depending on where you shoot.

Remember how COD 4 and 5 take from movies? well, i KNOW WHY THAT SNIPER takes so many "head shots"
he watched the movie "enemy at the gates" before he fights you
he raises his HELMET, but not his head..
THAT head trick, he mentions in this movie, is WHAT the sniper does
he raises it o na stick or something, then wtf pawns you after you shoot it...
DO NOT fall for this" enemy at the gates" trick

i mut have tried this 50 times and ended up shooting sgt.Ramonz he is sooo annoying! when trying to kill a sniper you require scilence and concereation not "you only grazed him" !!

i did this after about an hour and a half on veteran, it took forever, but i didnt use this way..you have to be patient is the golden rule for this mission. HES A FCUKIN DICK lol, also i did it later on recruit within 15 seconds, because i needed to try and do the gunslinger achievment. lol

Much easier way... if you keep switching positions every time the sniper shoots at you... it is programmed to make him miss the next time.

The star on your compass always points you to exactly the window he will be in--it's not just a generic pointer to the building. I could even see it working in this video.
See I kept trying to get ONE perfect headshot on him and I didn't care if I died in the process. I didn't know you had to hit him MULTIPLE TIMES. On hardened when I killed him it seemed random that that was the right shot. THIS explains it. I've never seen him in those top windows btw, veteran either.

When I did it on Veteren he was in the windows Below that level he was on. Made it easier to kill him as he only had 3 windows to choose from.

I owned him in the first time, i.e. when he goes for Reznov, and that was on veteran.
Just go to the couch, and look at the window on the right of where he is.
