@TheKourosh1990 Rameau wrote this opera informed by the Persian Zoroastre story, however it is a portrayal of Freemasonry as the librettist, Louis de Cahusac, was a leading French mason.
I attended this performance in Drottningholm some years ago, and my impressions were much better than now of this video fragment. The production was very modest but very nice.
I bought this video. It is the ONLY Rameau on DVD that I cannot recommend. The chief liability of the set, not so evident in this chorus, is the male singers: intonation problems, horribly aspirated passagework, exaggerated portrayals. The audio versions by Minkowski and (especially) Christie are much to be preferred.
Zoroastre is the best opera ever written. The orchestra is brilliant, the choruses are breathtaking and the baroque music ornamentations are sublime ! Viva Rameau para siempre !
son of a bitch, it's because of the sound of the recording... I know Christophe, and i can say to you that his orchestra is one of the best. And this recording has been made because i heard this opera and it's 100 % better in concerts
I'm an Iranian Zoroastrian. Im so proud of it.
Zoroaster was the first and only monotheist faith in human history which later this faith influenced Judiaism, Christianity and even Buddiasim

As usual, whatever faults or production difficulties exist cannot detract from or hide the utter magnificence of Rameau's music.

No it sounds shite. Rameau is amazing, but imagine hours of horrible singing and shrill playing like this! Is this really Rousset?

Does the title refers to the religion which was founded by Zoroatre? In French it's le Zoroastrisme, but I don't know in english...

Nietzsche thus spoke of the mountains and the journey of the maji dominion, modern iranian name; sardasht, (birthplace of z).

Son of a bitch?
Thats not paticularly friendly! I though a Rameau messageboard would be free of the personal insults commonly found elsewhere on Youtube.
Yes, Rousset and his orchestra are top notch!

The orchestra sounds horribly out of tune.
scruffycritter 4 years ago
I think its just the not so good quality of the sound. I dont hear any tuning problems, just a raw edge sound quality. Id love to see this. :)
