You guys don't know what you're talking about. Occasionally a team will switch out a scout for a sniper on certain parts of a map. For example, points 2&4 of badlands, since it is so open and snipers can do so much for the team in situations like that. Some teams always have a sniper in place of a scout, and some snipers can be as/more useful than other classes would be.

Are engineers ever seen in 6v6 matches? Standard turtlers woudl do nothing for the team, but a ninjaneer / level 1 teleport from point 2 to near point 4 would be helpful indeed.

It's rare but yeah they are. The maps engineers are chosen are very limited though, I know some teams will run an engineer on freight (mainly to defend last point) and also turbine seems to be popular for them (in europe) You're right about the standard turtle engi being useless. The sentry is used to help defend the flag in turbine but the real use of the engi is the teleporters. Heavies, sipers, pyros, engineers, and spies have all been seen in comp play, but they are rare to see.

Snipers are generally useless and not needed for game progress. On ANY map, may it be PL, CP, even DM.

Everything a sniper can do, other classes can do better.

Yes, but defending in a PL??? A sniper would be more useful than 1 of your scout in a slandered 6's form. Then again, those that scrim PL'l in GA and alike generally have a better sniper to slut or play in their team than 2 good scouts.
