I believe Moawya was a munafiq, and I am a Sunni. The Shia explanation of the Quranic verses trying to make it fit Imam Ali as the appointed Calipha is a weak explanation.
@AskaMuslim21 go to a salafi scholar and tell him that you will be labeled like us a raafidi kaafir. cause apparently you guys claim that the companions are not infallibles but your scholars sure treat them like on as if islam revolves around the companions. Brother many and many verses of the quraan refer to imam ali and the ahl al bayt. it is very important to research..
@Aloosh12 There are two sunni views on how to define a companion. My view is that of the fuqaha, it doesn't encompass the people who became Muslims after the Opening of Mecca i.e Mouawyah and abu sufyan etc.
Do you speak arabic?
I have searched more than you think. The Quran and hadith refer to imam Ali as the wali that we should follow in religion, there is no mention of him as the political leader after the prophet. The word "wali" is mentioned in the Quran countless times look at the mentions
I counsel you to have taqwaa (fear) of Allaah, and to listen and obey [your leader], even if a slave were to become your Ameer. Verily he among you who lives long will see great controversy, so you must keep to my Sunnah and to the Sunnah of the Khulafaa' ar-Raashideen (the Rightly Guided Caliphs), those who guide to the right way. Cling to it stubbornly.
It was related by Abu Dawood and at-Tirmidhee, who said that it was a good and sound Hadeeth
On the authority of Abu Najeeh al-'Irbaad ibn Saariyah (radiAllaahu anhu) who said :
The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) gave us a sermon by which our hearts were filled with fear and tears came to our eyes. So we said : "O Messenger of Allaah ! It is as though this is a farewell sermon, so counsel us".
