  • Often I wonder what I’m actually doing and why-then I see these videos and it all comes flooding back to me in tears. It’s a great gift/perspective-the lives we have the privilege to touch each day. Thanks Natalie Merchant for your gifts and reminding all who worked with individuals with disabilities of the gift they give us when we take time to be present in the moment while working alongside them. All 3 videos you did at Perkins School for the Blind are incredible-true treasures. THANK YOU!!!

  • This is what makes YouTube worth checking out. Natalie and John (am I right?) nail the great harmonies. Cryin tears of happiness.

  • search "pirate guitar"

  • When Natalie Merchant tells you you have a beautiful voice that damn you have a beautiful voice.

Stunning... Thanks for much for uploading it.

  • This is simply very very moving. This music is music of the soul and heart. Natalie Merchant, with her wonderful song, provides the framework for a very strong happening: so strong a moment of experience that even as simple a banal a medium as Youtube is somehow able to convey some of its power.

  • That guy has an awesome voice. It would be nice to hear more of his songs.

  • People who wear their heart on their sleeve express their emotions freely and openly, for all to see. Example: "She is kind of player who never hides how she's feeling. One look at her and you know if she's winning or losing." Reply: "She wears her heart on her sleeve."

  • Serving 100'00 people a year? I imagine 100,000 blind people traversing an antic complex,,,"Keep your heart of your sleave" Give me an explanation..

  • This is so beautiful! Tears in my eyes....

  • This is so pure it's holy.............:)

  • .........sehr berührend,wunderschön!!

  • Motherland remains my favorite Natalie Merchant album. I generally think they just get better with each new album. I liked House Carpenter's Daughter but I like the fuller arrangements from Motherland better than the stripped down folk songs that were on the most recent one. I am really looking forward to this upcoming album and hope she has a little more variation in her sounds and arrangements. She's one of about three artists I actively look forward to getting their music consistently.

  • Beautiful, absolutely moving and beautiful...Calmness for the heart...

  • Oh my God this is breautiful and I thought Christy Moore did a deadly version....look at the amazing talent on stage from all walks of life......brilliant

  • Natalie Merchant is an incredible human being....and most touching is that she remain human.

  • first time i have listen that song i was near the ocean ,and i first met my wife in the same time, she was asking me about who sing that song and we're still together

    thanks life thanks nathalie

  • I was moved to tears!

  • ♥Mother land is speaking about all of our life 's to the blind living and dead ♥

  • I only noticed at the end it was Livingston Taylor..James brother..was to taken by natalie as usual...Its so good to know she is busy doing a few things more important than making me a new CD that I long fro..I can only imagine her next release..I hear later this year(2009)

"Peace whenever possible, Anything is..." Medley

  • Hi, do you know something about a new album of Natalie??? please tell me..I'm from Italy....Why did she "stopped" her work?

    Thanks

    Simon

  • I was born in Italy too, my parents were passing through. Natalie Merchant Is finishing up her New CD RIGHT NOW, It should be out around Oct. her website says, Motherland was 2001, Then The House Carpenters Daughter 2003,now the new one coming in 2009, she likes to do 1 about every 5 years,And when asked as to why the long time in between CDs this time she said she couldnt give the time she always devotes to a new project of her own while her children were young, but now shes ready. I cant wait!

  • Check out my youtube page I have some more of her Rare stuff..I have undiluted respect for her. She is such a beautiful person and the lives she affects, mine included. she is a Very special woman who while singing, moves like my soulmate would, free, realistic, honest caring, passion, even in her few rage songs passion, passion of caring, passion of betrayal, passion of pain, passion of love and that always coupled with Positiveness, its all I see come from her, her man is a VERY fortunate guy.

  • 1787patriot, kind of young to be James Taylor's brother don't yah think? Maybe James Taylor's son, but not brother. James Taylor is in his 50's, may even be over 60 now for all I know. That boy is what? 18?

Either way, absolutely beautiful voice the boy has! He should put out a cd!

  • Livingston Taylor is in fact the GUITAR player, not the young boy singing...

  • OH! Well don't I feel stupid now. yeah I thought he was talking about the singer. Never mind then LOL!

  • Well, wait a minute alas1223, that guitar player looks way to old to be James Taylor's son, honestly.

  • Read again: not James Taylor's son: James Taylor's BROTHER !!

    Honestly.

  • what a great performance. This guy is great and we all love natalie.

  • Had me in tears. Beautiful performance.

  • I just saw/heard John Castillo tonight for the first time at the Summer Revels in Watertown, MA. AWESOME voice! His dad told me about THIS youtube with Natalie, and I'm even more blown away. I hope someone out there records a cd with/for/of John: I'll buy a bunch!
