I think its more of a traditional style choice, i dont march at PHS i march but i am in a band that sees parkersburg a few times through the year. and I honestly think its just their traditional style of marching.
It's ok for a band camp item, especially after the group went through such pain to get ready for this TitleTown thing from ESPN. It really threw everything off kilter scheduling wise. Given the fact that you guys had a late start, it means you have to work doubly hard and have the DISCIPLINE of the Big Red Band (please take the advice seriously about discipline--it's what makes you that band, nothing else).
No it's not. I think all the extra stuff makes it more exciting. My band doesn't really use military, and we're not bad.

I am not in the band this year I graduated in 08, but I agree fully with what you said discipline is the key of military marching.
