I have both and I just picked up a program yesterday. I like them both fairly equally, but I do love the convenience of the program mode. I shot a couple of rolls today and they came out fantastic. I shot for years with the original AE-1 and this is a welcome addition to the collection.
This commercial was spoofed on NBC's "Saturday Night Live", with Stevie Wonder as the photographer and Joe Piscopo as John Newcombe, a former tennis player.
"So advanced - it's simple!"
Today: "So advanced - you don't have to do anything"

This is another commercial. The Kannon AE-1 (as advertised on SNL), was a spoof of the famous Canon AE-1 Program.
