@StefanJato, it's true that the we believe in Jesus Christ because of what the Bible says, but Jesus also tells US to make disciples of all nations. How many nonbelievers are going to sit down and read the word and just become believers? I admit, it does happen. However, what is more likely to happen is through the leading of the Holy Spirit, one person will share with another and there interest is piqued. I can definitely identify more than a few people who led me to the Lord.
I dont like that people say xyz are their "reasons for being a christian". Our reason for being Christians should be nothing other than that what the Bible declares is truth. We need to stop thinking of the bible as a storybook and realize its just as true as any history book, if not truer.
@StefanJato I'm pretty sure they mean the influence not there Christian because of this this and this. They are saying that their fathers passion lead them to the Lord
I wish more people that profess themselves to be Christians were more like Francis Chan. I hate legalism, like for example one woman claiming to be Christian said to me regarding an issue that it is wrong for us today to cut our hair or to shave our heads bald, and she was refferring to guys. I mean it's people like her that don't know the Scriptures that can bring alot of discouragement and alienation within the Church and can lead to people leaving due to feeling unloved which is tragic.
Watch that video again on Erasing Hell. I watched the video at least twice to ensure that I got the context of what he was attempting to convey through his usage of specific words & scriptural text. Unlike you, I don't feel or believe he's still working through his belief concerning the issue of hell. Everything he presented in that video reflects a GOD who DOES as He pleases & we as fallen beings lack the ability (& infinitely so) to understand the MIND OF GOD.
@forhisglory700 I've read the book. I meant from his book it felt like he was still working through the issue and he even admits he wasn't completely sure.

I like Chan but Erasing Hell was brutal. It felt like he was still working through his beliefs and should have waited to write the book.
