this is definitely one of those showboat tinikling routines. These stick tricks are really nice, but look sloppy on stage. People just jumping everywhere. You cannot even tell what is going on in the dance. I do like the rotations, now those are nice.
oh my god...what choreography...very intricate...this is the best tinikling ive seen so far...very good transition...the blockings are sick and the changing of the bamboo poles are outstanding...i love this dance...by the way im a choreographer here in the philippines im very surprised that you gave our tinikling a new and fresh look to how to dance and perform this piece...hope our bayanihan see this...congratulations KABA you guys are truly the best.
what a fantastic performance! too bad about the yelling in the crowd (i thought i was listening to the football crowd ~ cringe). i hope there's another video of this floating around with better quality and audio dubbed over the annoying crowd...it would be 100 times more enjoyable to watch then.
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS!!!!! in 1964 13 year old Elisa Johnson was raped and murdered in North Carolina, her body was found with multiple stab wounds, and now that you've read this, every night she will come to your house and hang from your closet with glowing red eyes, the only way to stop this is to post this to 10 other videos.
great video. i was a folkdancer back home in the philippines. thanks for posting this. brings back memories. i'd like to see an aerial shot of this dance. that would be cool.

the most heartpounding tinikling i everseen in my life, you have surpassed my imagination and i salute you for entertaining the world! it is the best ever.
no offense to anyone out there. But we do not view PCN as a competition where year after year we have to "beat" other routines. To us it is merely an expression of ourselves and our culture, because in essence we're tlaking about the same culture and to say that santa clara or any other schoolshow their culture better goes against the whole point of what PCN should be about
WAY TOO THEATRICAL, now thats both a good thing and a bad thing. good=eye candy for the uneducated masses. bad=doesnt keep up with tradition, as our 'foremother of folkdancing said',''let folkdance be as that, dances of the folk''. however i do applaud for the difficulty of execution
Thank you all very much for your Comments. We took an abstract look at the dance. The dance in traditional story form are the tikling birds escaping the traps set from farmers to capture them. Throughout Filipino literature the bird has come to represent the PHillipines and its people i.e. Bayan Ko. Our rationale for the "showiness" and theatrics was that struggle is not just linear it comes at you from every way shape and form and that no matter what you could not put our people down.
The Tinikling itself was great, considering you properly blended Theatrical dance with Traditional. But you guys deserve more props for that whole thing with the background. That was pure Barrio.
that is the longest tinikling ever. a lot of tricks. reminds me of when my sister choreo graphed for tinikling at pcn in 2004? or 2003? it was her freshman year. blind folds reminded me of her senior year in high school.
i liked it, but i was also kinda hoping for traditional tinikling as well, like the jumping jacks move or the dosi-do.
makes me feel like joining my old filipino dance group. good job everyone!
i've seen a lot of tiniking performances and hands down that's the most sickest one i've ever seen. props. when PCN season comes along in 2007, i'll be looking on youtube to see Kaba's tiniking again. =)

I'm pretty sure it's the larger group that Kaba Modern branches off from. That's why it's Kababayan, or just Kaba for short.
