  • Steve was offered a tour with the new Searchers, but had to turn it down due to back problems from years of drumming (and dodgy drum stools). He does indeed live in the East Midlands and is working as a solo singer predominantly, as well as a drum tutor.

  • Hearts In Her Eyes is a great song written by John Wicks of The Records. The Searchers recorded Hearts In Her Eyes for Sire. Mike sometimes plays Hearts, I know that John Wicks still performs it with his new group The Records featuring John Wicks. The Searchers and The Records are both British bands, but Wicks now resides in the U.S.

  • So pleased Mike's still in excellent form these days!

I saw him twice in 2010 and will see him in March with MPS!

  • The biggest loss to MPS was when the drummer Steve Carlisle called it a day. He was a good drummer and a great singer. Mike Jnr is ok on the drums ,but he cannot sing.

  • @Palandy33. You're dead right, Steve was 1st class drummer and singer. MPS used to cover the, Gerry Rafferty, song, City to City, Steve, sang it, top drawer.

  • @leeroysilk Yeah it was one of my favourite songs they did in their set, along with Tulsa Time. Pity Mike has wound down doing shows with his own band, sad loss.

  • @Palandy33

    What happened to Steve Carlisle?

I saw these guys the other night with Mike jnr on drums and they sounded excellent!!!

  • @rich88b Glad you enjoyed them. Steve Carlisle simply had enough of all the travel, he lives on the east coast, near Skegness i think. As far as I recall he is performing on his own around the area. he is also a good guitarist apart from drummer and singer. he did have his own website.

  • Mike is sounding on good form and full of his usual friendly banter... nice hearing him do Hearts in her Eyes too! I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he put on a great show, helped by Vanity Fare in the 25th Anniversary of the Solid SIlver 60s show.
