Tension is through a winch at the bottom, attached to a tree. It's the only way to get enough force on the rope. I tried counterweights but there's so much weight across the length of the rope you need something anchored.
this is one of the better ones ive seen on here, theres alot of poorly built / unsafe ones. im building one this winter too, hoping to use a 6.5 hp gas engine.

questions about the rope, how much was it per foot ($)? how long is it? what kind and thickness of the rope? and whats powering it?
